Chapter 377 Indeed, It Doesn't Look Like He's Been Injured.
When Gabriel got serious, he was like the peak of a snow-capped mountain at the edge of the world, untouchable.
However, when he became such a pain, he was truly annoying.
Gabriel remained silent as Jessica took care of him and helped him lie back down. After all, even the slightest movement would tug at his wound. Although he could endure the pain, it didn't mean he didn't feel it.
When Jessica was wiping his body, her movements were rough, but when she helped him lie back down, she was very gentle and slow, afraid of pulling his wound again.
In the afternoon, Lynn called Jessica.
Stellaria City Airport had returned to normal, and the film crew was preparing to fly back to Xyleria tonight.
Jessica's promotional period with them was almost over. Knowing that Jessica had been quite frightened at the Golden Orchid Hotel, the film crew didn't force her to return immediately for further promotions. Instead, they asked Lynn to check on her current situation and see if she planned to fly back with them tonight or stay in Stellaria City for a couple of days to rest.
Jessica had taken leave from the "Shadow Kill" crew until her current movie "Against the Flow" was released, which meant she had to return in a few days to continue filming, or it would affect everyone's shooting schedule, which would be a breach of contract.
There were still two days left until the agreed time.
When Jessica answered the phone, Gabriel had just taken his pain medication and was resting with his eyes closed. She glanced back at Gabriel, who was quietly sleeping. After a moment of hesitation, she said, "I haven't settled things at the hospital yet, so I can't leave for now."
"Alright. I'll inform the film crew that we won't leave tonight," Lynn said, ready to hang up, but then added, "Your pass and documents have been found. I'll bring them to you later."
"No need, I've been at the hospital for two days and need to go back to get a change of clothes. The hospital isn't far from the hotel, so I'll just take a cab. You can keep the documents for now."
Lynn replied, "Okay."
After hanging up, Jessica put down her phone and went out to find a nurse. After asking about Gabriel's current condition and confirming that he was fine as long as he stayed still and rested, she decided to take advantage of Gabriel's sleep to head back to the hotel.
When Jessica arrived at the hotel, the film crew hadn't left yet. Seeing her return, they all came up to ask about her injury and if she was scared or needed anything. Jessica lifted her bandaged foot, still clad in slippers, and showed them. "Just a minor injury. What doesn't you makes you stronger. The box office will definitely be a hit!"
The film crew's leader laughed and arranged for someone help her into the elevator.
Back in her room, Jessica faced a dilemma - she couldn't take a shower because of her foot injury, but she also couldn't waste too much time since Gabriel was still in the hospital. While she was hesitating about how to take a shower, Zoey came to her room to deliver her documents.
So Zoey was roped into the bathroom to help hold her leg to avoid getting her foot wet. After a quick shower, Jessica felt refreshed, packed some essentials, changed clothes, and hurried back to the hospital.
In the late afternoon, it wasn't easy to get a cab in Stellaria City. Jessica didn't ask the hotel to call a cab but went to a nearby shopping street to buy a comfortable pillow for Gabriel. After leaving the mall, she tried to hail a cab, but the streets were crowded, and there were hardly any empty cabs.
Standing by the street for a while, she was about to use Lynn's spare phone to see if she could download a local cab app when a car that had just passed by circled back and stopped in front of her.
Jessica paused and looked up to see a gray Ferrari.
Daniel was in the car. After rolling down the window, he looked Jessica up and down several times. With one hand on the steering wheel and the other patting the passenger seat, he said, "Where do you wanna go? I can give you a ride."
'The business between the Jenners and the Stellaria City Stock Exchange hasn't been settled yet? Why is this jinx still here?' Jessica thought.
Jessica, standing by the roadside, took a step back and continued looking down at her phone to find a cab app, ignoring him.
Unexpectedly, Daniel got out of the car, closed the door, and walked over with his hands in his pockets.
"Jessica, don't be ungrateful. When I show you kindness, you should accept it. If it weren't for Mr. Jenner, do you think I'd be willing to smile at you?" Daniel whispered in her ear, lowering his voice.
As he leaned in, he even sniffed near Jessica's ear. When Jessica warily stepped back, he smiled, touched his nose, and raised an eyebrow, saying, "Did you just take a shower? Why shower in the middle of the day? Where did you go to 'play'? I'm familiar with all the elite circles in Stellaria City. If you need anything, don't go out 'playing' by yourself. You can come to me. I don't mind introducing you to a few people."
Daniel gave Jessica a meaningful look, as if expecting her to understand his implication.
Jessica had changed into more comfortable shoes after returning to the hotel, and now she walked freely, not looking like she was injured.
But given the big incident at the Golden Orchid Hotel, even if Daniel wasn't there that day, he must have heard about her near-miss. His boastful demeanor clearly aimed to probe her thoughts on the feud and murder within the Stellaria City elite families, to see if she was scared.
Jessica tapped her phone screen a couple more times, called a local cab through the newly downloaded app, and then turned to give him a cold glance. "I can shower whenever I want. Even God can't control that. But you, no amount of cologne can cover up the stench of a scumbag. Why are you standing so close? Take your filthy habits learned from those rich kids in City W and get away from me. Don't disgust me."
Daniel licked his cheek and suddenly laughed. "Do you remember Mr. Lawrence? He's quite fond of you. Even if you don't return to the Jenner family, with that face, you could still attract many rich kids in the entertainment industry. After all, beauty is something everyone desires, even I..."
Before he could finish, Jessica grabbed a half-empty cup of milk tea from a nearby trash can and dumped it on his head. Without a word, she shook her hand in disgust and walked away.
She needed to cross the street to meet the cab she had just called, which would be arriving in a minute.
