Chapter 602 Sweet Extra of Couple Variety Show 87
After leaving the highway rest area, the bus hit the road again. It was already nighttime, and everyone was pretty much drained. The bus was quiet, except for the occasional snores from a few male guests, including Marshall.
As the bus entered the Majestic City beltway, there were faint signs of people trying to wake up.
In the back, a male guest stretched and opened the curtain on the window to look outside. All he could see were the streetlights and the dark night.
"This really is the city with the most water bodies in the country. We haven't even reached the coastal area or Mantanani Island yet, and there are lakes on both sides of the road. Must have been quite a task to build this highway," Brent said, peering out the window.
Hearing his voice, everyone else looked outside too.
"We're almost there, right? Better get ourselves together. Once we get to the island, there's no way we'll be able to sleep for the rest of the night," Clayton said, rubbing his sore shoulder and then giving Cindy's shoulders a quick massage.
Cindy swatted his hand away and pulled out some mentholated cream from her travel bag, applying it to her forehead to stay awake.
"Where'd you get the mentholated cream?" Debra asked, turning around from the front, catching a whiff of the scent and looking towards Cindy.
Cindy held up the cream. "I bought it in Milton City, Harmony City. It's for motion sickness or when I'm too tired. Do you want some, Debra?"
"Sure, I'll take a bit." Debra got up to go over.
Cindy quickly stood up and brought it to her.
"Mentholated cream can also stop itching, right? How many did you buy? We might need it for mosquito bites on the island," Clayton said, rummaging through the travel bag and finding two or three more.
"There are two or three left. Anyone who needs it can use it," Cindy said, glancing at Jessica as she walked to the back.
Jessica hadn't said much during the trip. Cindy had been worried she might get motion sickness since she had shown some symptoms earlier.
Jessica was half-asleep, resting on Gabriel's shoulder, unaware of Cindy's concerned look.
Gabriel glanced back at Cindy, his calm eyes signaling that there was no need to worry.
Cindy nodded and returned to her seat.
An hour later, the bus arrived at the dock for Mantanani Island. The guests needed to take a speedboat, which would get them to their destination in ten minutes.
Once everyone was wearing life jackets and on the island, they found it pitch black, with only a few lights from the production crew for filming. There was no other light.
Amy yawned and checked her phone.
1:30 AM.
"Wow, this really is a survival challenge on a deserted island," Lester said, looking back at the production crew.
The staff, expressionless, held their cameras towards the guests, not responding. Marshall was talking to the producer. They needed some simple preparations before starting the official recording of the second episode.
The live broadcast had been cut off, so the guests were technically in a rest state in front of the cameras.
"Did the director say we have to sleep in caves tonight?" Melissa asked, catching up to Jessica with her small backpack.
"That's what it sounded like. It just rained here, so there's no place to put our stuff on the beach, let alone rest. Let's find the caves first, find a clean spot to put our luggage, and then figure it out," Jessica said, looking ahead.
