Chapter 307 This Man Clearly Knows How to...

Cherry shot Jessica a frosty glare. "Jessica, I don't care how undisciplined Mackenzie was with you. Now that you're under my management, you need to keep your private life clean. No more running around with different guys. If it gets out, it'll be embarrassing for both of us."

Jessica smirked. "I didn't think Ms. Wallace could feel embarrassed." It sounded innocent enough, but the sarcasm was clear.

Cherry's face tightened. She got the hint. Without another word, she stormed out, tossing a parting shot over her shoulder. "Not interested in arguing. Get ready and head to the set."

That afternoon, they had one more scene to shoot before wrapping up and heading back to Xyleria.

Jessica was rehearsing lines with some actors when Zoey suddenly put down her phone and gave her a look.

Jessica nodded to the actors, turned around, and checked her phone. Zoey had sent her a screenshot on Facebook via WhatsApp.

Cherry had tagged Jessica's personal Facebook account using the studio's official page. She announced she was now Jessica's manager and invited friends, investors, and collaborators to contact her directly. The post was full of formalities, basically saying all business inquiries should go through her now.

Jessica checked Facebook and saw Cherry's post had over eight thousand comments. Her fans were naively hoping Cherry would help her career take off. Cherry had highlighted a few flattering comments.

Cherry's tone suggested that managing Jessica would make her one of the top agents in the industry.

"Cherry just wants to be famous, huh? Never seen a manager announce herself on Facebook," Zoey muttered.

Scrolling through the comments, some fans questioned why Cherry was making such a public announcement instead of working behind the scenes. They suspected she was trying to ride Jessica's coattails, but those comments were quickly deleted, leaving only the positive ones.

Jessica didn't share or like Cherry's post. After reading it, she logged off.

Fans noticed Jessica had been online but didn't acknowledge the post, sparking discussions in fan groups about why she hadn't responded.

Later, the fans' discussions shifted, but Jessica ignored it, focusing on finishing her last scene in H City.

On the drive back, Zoey kept Jessica updated on the exploding Facebook situation. Fans questioned Cherry's announcement, especially Jessica's silence hours later.

Cherry couldn't keep up with deleting comments, so she responded to a less critical one, saying Jessica was busy filming and that they had a good relationship privately.

Jessica leaned back in her seat and said calmly, "I have a perfume endorsement that's currently stuck with her."

Zoey knew Jessica was considering terminating her contract but was unsure how far along she was. Regardless, Zoey would follow Jessica wherever she went. If Jessica left Star Entertainment, she would too, not wanting to stay in such a parasitic company.

"Cherry is really lucky. She just got here and landed your perfume endorsement. This brand's salon fragrance is quite famous here, considered mid-luxury," Zoey said, resting her chin on her hand. "It would be a pity to lose it."

"Yeah." Jessica closed her eyes. "The CEO of the perfume company is hosting a meeting tomorrow night. After that, it should be settled."

However, it was rumored that the CEO and the head of marketing had some connections with Cherry, which was why it was so easily stuck with her.

This made Jessica more cautious.

Tonight was New Year's Eve, and the traffic was heavy. They arrived in Xyleria after 7 PM.

Jessica got off the RV and drove back to Blue Bay Apartments. As soon as she got home, Danielle jumped into her arms, showering her with kisses and hugs. They had just had a late-night snack together in H City less than 24 hours ago, but Danielle sweetly said she missed her mommy.

Caroline's foot injury hadn't healed yet, so Jessica gave her a few more days off.

After rushing back, Jessica saw it was still early and took a bath with Danielle at home.

At 9 PM, she sent a Whatsapp message to Gabriel.

Jessica: [Your little baby suddenly appears.]

Jessica: [Sugar Daddy, are you off work?]

Gabriel didn't reply on Whatsapp but called her directly.

Jessica answered the call, and before she could speak, Danielle peeked at her phone from her lap.

Jessica smiled and moved her head away from Danielle's, answering the call, "Isn't Whatsapp convenient? Why call?"

Gabriel seemed to be driving. "I just went to the airport, still driving, and was not convenient to reply on Whatsapp."

"I thought you were at the office. Why the sudden trip to the airport? Which partner is so important?" Jessica said as she got up with Danielle, planning to go to the 32nd floor to wait for Gabriel. "It's New Year's Eve, and Mr. Harriman is personally driving to pick someone up. Is it a VIP?"

"Who could be more important than you? You're the VIP," Gabriel's deep, seductive voice came through the phone.

Jessica chuckled, feeling flattered. Who said Gabriel was always serious?

Gabriel was quite charming.

A simple phone call, with less than ten words, could make her heart race.

"Drive safely. I'll go upstairs with Danielle to wait for you."

After Jessica finished talking, she was ready to leave but then recalled the gift she had prepared. She quickly went back to get it, putting the black velvet box with a gentleman's bow tie in her pocket, then took Danielle to the 32nd floor.
