Chapter 508 Shut out by Gabriel

Jessica didn't pay much attention to the inheritance issues. When she learned that Aaron had been arrested, she was lying in a hospital room, watching the variety show she had participated in a few days ago. The team she assisted had won first place.

The turmoil in the Jenner family wasn't an entertainment industry event, so only a few small media outlets speculated about Jessica's so-called topic: [Not acting well, she possibly has to inherit billions of dollars.] However, as other contestants' companies increased their marketing for the show, and since Jessica was just a guest performer, she and her studio intentionally avoided bringing the Jenner family's issues online. This topic gradually faded away, and no one specifically discussed Jessica's background.

Many people believed that she had been on the rise in the industry for the past two years, and with the strong backing of both families, she would undoubtedly dominate the entertainment industry for at least the next ten years. In the coming years, she would be a leading actress in many TV dramas and movies.

But none of these things stirred any emotions in Jessica.

She missed the old days when she was in that small house, looking disheveled, and Gabriel questioned her, "A movie star?"

He said she didn't look like one at all.

Jessica lay in bed. After watching the show, she picked up her phone and stared at Gabriel's name on Facebook.

After being anxious for so many days, she just wanted to know when Gabriel planned to contact her.

Jessica had an old injury on her neck from a car accident years ago on the Xyleria Bridge. Although it didn't have a significant impact, every time she experienced a severe impact or was suspended in the air carelessly, her neck would hurt for several days, making it difficult to move.

This time, the car first hit the guardrail, and she was thrown against the windshield without wearing a seatbelt. In such a situation, it was a miracle that she managed to hold on. Later, when the car fell, her injuries were severe, especially her neck, which hurt so much that even watching a show on her phone made her clench her teeth in pain.

The doctor found that her desire to get out of bed was too strong. To prevent her from further injuring her neck, the doctor put a cervical collar on her. The large device around her neck forced Jessica to walk sideways like a crab just to get to the bathroom.

Finally, it was dark, and Rebecca had just called to say that police cars had gone to the Jenner Mansion and taken away several old servants. At tht time, Donald, who was sitting in a wheelchair, heard the commotion, and opened his eyes, albeit just a small slit. It seemed that Donald had already anticipated this.

Eugene wanted to contact her, but Jessica didn't answer the phone. She was in such a state that her whole body was in pain. She couldn't deal with the Jenner family's leftover issues.

After resting in bed, she wanted to look outside when the room was temporarily empty. She struggled to the window and saw that it was snowing again in Washington. She heard what sounded like a car downstairs and tried to look down.

But this attempt made her cervical collar get stuck in the window.

The excruciating pain almost made Jessica cry out. She tried to move the device from the window, but every attempt caused her so much pain that she barely endured it.

She screamed in her heart, 'Help, help, help! What should she do?'

Her phone was still on the bed, so she couldn't even call for help!

Mackenzie had gone to the convenience store. Given her usual slow pace, it would be at least twenty minutes before she returned. Twenty minutes could be too long!

Jessica slowly bent her waist, trying to angle the cervical collar to free it from the window. But after struggling for a long time, her whole body was in pain, especially her neck, which hurt so much that her nerves were twitching. She still couldn't get free.

"Ouch. It hurts!"

Gabriel walked into the hospital room and saw this scene.

Jessica was bent over, twisting her body in front of the window, with the large cervical collar stuck in the window. She was in pain, quietly crying out. Every time the pain became unbearable, her feet, clad in hospital slippers, would kick the floor, and her butt would stick out as if she believed she could free herself with more effort.

Landon, who was following behind, was about to enter but first noticed the empty bed. He then saw Jessica struggling by the window. As he was about to speak, the door suddenly closed, blocking his view.

Landon, who was quickly shut out by Gabriel, was speechless.

Jessica heard someone come in and thought it was Mackenzie. She quickly waved her hand behind her. "Mackenzie, help. I can't take it anymore."

Hearing the approaching footsteps, Jessica was too anxious to care if the footsteps were familiar. She just wanted to get free from the window.

"Hurry, Mackenzie. I can't take it anymore!" she cried out in pain. If it weren't for the device stuck there, she would have jumped up from the pain.

Then she felt a pair of hands behind her, gently moving the stuck part of the cervical collar, avoiding her neck injury. The expected pain didn't come, and the device was smoothly removed from the window.

Jessica let out a long sigh of relief, quickly raised her hand to support the large device on her neck, and instinctively turned to look back.

Gabriel was wearing a light gray coat with a black sweater underneath. Because of her sudden turn, he raised his hand slightly to avoid the device. With this motion, his long neck, sexy Adam's apple, and defined jawline all came into her view.

Jessica's stunned expression lasted too long and the quiet hospital room had no one else but them. Gabriel lowered his hand, a half-smile playing on his lips, and with a teasing note in his deep, husky voice, said, "Are you out of your mind?"
