Chapter 288 Not Suitable For Children

The little girl in the photo wasn't facing the camera, but even from the side, it was clear she looked a lot like Jessica.

Trinity‘s words recame to his mind.

Keegan zoomed in on the little girl's side profile, taking in her round, adorable face. Then he glanced at Jessica's expression while holding the girl's hand. It was a look he'd never seen on her face in all the years they were together.

Maybe it wasn't just the resilience and clarity of a mother. Jessica now had something unbreakable in her life, something he couldn't touch anymore after five years.

After hanging up, Jessica immediately called Mackenzie, but there was no answer.

She then texted Mackenzie, asking when she could talk, but Mackenzie didn't reply right away.

Since Trinity was already suspicious, Jessica had to warn Mackenzie about the worst-case scenario. She didn't have to hide Danielle's existence, but her contract with Mackenzie stated that her work shouldn't be affected by Danielle, and Danielle had to stay hidden. If Trinity wanted to blow this up, even without proof, it would cause a lot of suspicion. Jessica needed to explain this to Mackenzie.

But with Mackenzie not answering, she had to wait until she was free.

From the moment Jessica's tone changed after the call, Gabriel's attention shifted from the keypad at the door to her.

"What happened?" Gabriel asked, walking over and closing the door behind him.

"Trinity suspects I had a child, but she doesn't have solid proof. It's just a suspicion for now. I don't know what other evidence she might have, but my career is on the rise, and the last few months have been high-profile. If news about my daughter gets out, Danielle's safety and freedom will be at risk, and I won't be able to explain it to my company and studio." Jessica looked up at Gabriel as he approached. "If it were anyone else, I might find a way to keep them quiet, but it's Trinity."

After a moment of silence, Gabriel stared at her and said slowly, "Don't panic. You still have me, don't you?"

Jessica's heart skipped a beat.

His voice was calm, a soothing balm to Jessica's anxiety, as if his words alone could restore her equilibrium.

"I know you care about Danielle, but this is complicated. I've never wanted to deny her existence, but my job is special. I can't let Danielle be exposed to the public too soon; it would impact her too much. But Danielle's situation with you..."

"Once I considered you mine, Danielle was included in that." Gabriel reached out and pinched her cheek. "From now on, you don't need to worry about this. Leave it to me, okay?"

"How will you handle it?"

Gabriel pinched her soft, pink cheek, then suddenly wrapped an arm around her waist, pulling her from the side of the couch into his embrace, not letting go. He smiled and said, "Marry me first, and then I'll tell you."

She raised her hand to swat away his hand pinching her cheek, but she couldn't escape his embrace. She was still in her indoor slippers. She looked up to speak, but Gabriel kissed her directly. Shefelt  her face burning. Even though they had done this and that last night, kissing openly at home felt too natural and intimate, making it hard for her, who had been single for twenty-four years, to adapt immediately.

"I'm discussing Danielle's issue with you," Jessica tried to be serious.

Gabriel wrapped an arm around her waist. "I'm also talking about our issue. Danielle is part of us."

Jessica pulled away from his embrace. "I didn't plan to do anything about the Jenner family so soon, but Eugene's actions last time really pissed me off. I've lost all patience with them. Cynthia has also been secretly helping me stir things up. Now the Jenner family is in chaos, and Trinity might act like a mad dog, biting indiscriminately. It's hard to control someone who doesn't play by the rules."

Gabriel looked down at her. "Even a mad dog wants to stay alive."

Jessica fell silent.

Gabriel glanced at her again. "Not going out?"

Right, he had taken the rare opportunity to spend the whole day with her. They had planned to go on a date today!

Jessica snapped back to reality and quickly checked the time. "Ah, where are we going?"

"Put on your shoes."

"Oh."

She quickly put her phone back in her bag, turned around, and walked to the door to change her shoes. While changing, she asked, "Are you staying on the thirty-first floor tonight to have dinner with Danielle and me? I'll let Caroline know to make an extra portion for you."

Gabriel had already walked over at some point. Jessica was still struggling with her shoes, about to bend down to adjust their angle, when suddenly her waist tightened, and her feet left the ground. Before she could cry out, Gabriel had lifted her and placed her on the shoe cabinet by the door.

The cabinet wasn't very high. She looked up at Gabriel's face from a rare angle, only to be pressed down by him and kissed heavily for a long time. The kiss had a strange sense of warning and punishment.

Jessica was a bit dazed, her eyes wide open, until Gabriel kissed her again and said in a husky voice, "I thought you planned to move to the thirty-second floor tonight."

Jessica fell silent.

She quickly tried to sit up straight, but Gabriel held her by the back of her neck, making it impossible to avoid him. She could only hide her shy face and say, "That's not appropriate. It's not like the flu from a few days ago when we had to be apart. Wherever I go, Danielle will follow. What if Danielle sees somethings inappropriate ?"

Gabriel pressed her neck down a bit more, bringing her face close to his, their breaths mingling.

"We've lived together before. What inappropriate things would she see?"

He repeatedly turned her blushing face back to him. "Hmm? Tell me."

Jessica was speechless.

"Are you planning to do inappropriate things every moment after we live together?"

"No! I didn't say that! I didn't think that!" Jessica's neck gave up resisting. Pressed by him, their foreheads almost touching, she firmly refused to be led astray.

"I do," Gabriel whispered huskily against her lips.
