Chapter 362 Gabriel in the Bathroom
The promo activities for the past couple of days were super intense.
Last week, Jessica was with the "Shadow Kill" crew, shooting car chases and fight scenes non-stop. She barely had a moment to breathe after getting back to Xyleria before jumping into the promo tour.
She was flying to at least two cities a day, sometimes even three. She could only take a break on the plane, and as soon as she landed, it was straight to promo events.
Yesterday, she landed in City S and had to fly to Stellaria City before dawn.
Jessica napped on the plane, feeling sore all over. After arriving in Stellaria City, she jumped right into promo activities. She was supposed to fly out at 4 PM, but a heavy rainstorm delayed and eventually canceled the flight.
Stuck in Stellaria City for the night, they decided to stay at a nearby hotel. The crew wanted to book an entire floor, but the hotel was packed with wealthy and notable guests. So, they had to find their own rooms.
Before Jessica got to the hotel, the crew's organizer called Lynn to say her room was booked on the 22nd floor, and she could pick up her room card at the front desk.
Not everyone had arrived at the hotel yet, so with no evening plans, they decided to explore the local area.
Jessica, Zoey, and Lynn found a restaurant and enjoyed a rare leisurely dinner. After too many airplane meals, a proper sit-down meal was a real treat.
After dinner, it was still raining, so they stayed nearby.
By the time they got to the hotel, it was 9 PM. For convenience, the manager and assistant also stayed there, but Lynn and Zoey shared a room while Jessica had her own.
At the front desk, Jessica was about to show her ID and passport, but the staff member, who was on a call, glanced at her, hung up, and said, "You're already checked in. No need to register again. Here's your spare room card and breakfast voucher for tomorrow. Keep them safe."
Jessica was puzzled. 'A spare room card? What does that mean?' she wondered. 'Maybe people in Stellaria City speak differently?'
Since the crew booked the hotel, they must have registered for her.
Jessica took the room card without asking more questions. Seeing it was for the 22nd floor, she headed to the elevator.
Fifteen minutes later, a local Stellaria City taxi pulled up to the hotel. A young woman in a white chiffon blouse and light purple skirt walked in. She approached the front desk and said, "Hi, my mom booked a room for me here. She said I could check in directly."
The front desk staff looked at her clothes and was momentarily stunned.
It was a white top, light purple skirt.
Didn't someone just come in wearing the same thing?
Seeing the staff's hesitation, the young woman added, "I just flew in from Country Y today. The rain delayed my arrival, and the car was slow, so I'm a bit late. Do I need to show my ID again?"
Thinking the staff didn't understand her, the young woman repeated herself, mentioning her mom made the reservation from Country Y.
The staff took her ID and said, "I'm sorry, Miss Harriman. At 9 PM, a lady in the same outfit came in, and I gave her your room card by mistake."
Kimberly's face froze, and she frowned.
During her year as an exchange student, Gabriel rarely visited the Harriman family. She never got a chance to be alone with him. After returning to Country Y, she finally got another opportunity to come back, this time with a professor for a lecture in Stellaria City. How long she could stay depended on the professor.
Gabriel was on a business trip in Stellaria City, and Imogen booked this hotel for Kimberly from Country Y.
She was only fifteen minutes late, but the room card was given to someone else?
"Can you get the room card back?" Kimberly asked, looking anxious.
The staff apologized, "We'll call to check. We didn't take her ID or phone number earlier. She might be with the film crew from the afternoon. I'll ask her colleagues. I'm really sorry."
Jessica didn't go back to her room right away.
She went to Lynn and Zoey's room on the 18th floor. They had bought some snacks on the way back. Though she wasn't very hungry, she wanted to try some.
After eating a bit, she felt too full and quickly put down the snacks, leaving them for the others. She then headed back to the 22nd floor.
Jessica stepped out of the elevator, glanced at the room number sign, and walked to the right. The hotel's corridors were like a maze—grand and beautiful, but not very practical. It was easy to get lost trying find the room.
Passing by a sunroom with a view of the rain outside, she saw it was still pouring and thought it might be tough to fly out tomorrow.
Reaching her room, Jessica used the card to open the door. As she entered, her pocket vibrated with a WhatsApp message. At the same moment, thunder roared outside, and she glanced out the window, marveling at the heavy rainstorm in almost October.
She placed her bag on the cabinet by the door, too tired to notice the lights were already on. All she saw was the large bed, and she had only one thought - to lie down and sleep.
She unbuttoned two buttons of her blouse, knowing she couldn't go to bed without showering. She turned to head to the sofa, unbuttoning as she walked, but suddenly stopped and looked towards the bathroom.
Jessica thought, 'Was that the sound of water? Not the rain outside?'
She suddenly saw a tall figure in the bathroom doorway—a man!
Jessica, on guard, quickly grabbed her blouse's collar and took a few steps back, ready to run to the door.
At the same time, the bathroom door opened.
The room was brightly lit, and the rain outside was continuous. As the man stepped out of the bathroom, Jessica instinctively glanced at him, her eyes widening in shock!
Her steps slowed, and she stared in astonishment at the man who came out from the shower and was now only wearing a towel around his waist.
