Chapter 135 When to Bring the Granddaughter-in-law Back

A black Bentley drove into the Harriman family's old mansion.
Nicholas rarely sat in the passenger seat of Gabriel's car, humming a tune as he got out.
Gabriel took the time to return to the old mansion after the last incident because Nicholas mentioned Michael's recent health issues. Nicholas went to great lengths to cooperate with Michael and managed to persuade Gabriel to come back, who had been extremely busy. If Gabriel did return, Michael would definitely praise Nicholas for his clever and capable.
Gabriel was busy, but his real reason for not returning to the Harriman family mansion was Michael's phone query about when Gabriel would bring his wife home. The misunderstanding Nicholas had created out of fear of death had almost become a sore spot for Michael, who kept mentioning it incessantly.
Sure enough, as soon as he entered the main hall, He was met with warm gazes.
Nicholas stood with folded arms to the side and asked, "Grandpa, now that Gabriel is back, can you lift the restrictions on my cards?"
Gabriel knew from the start that Nicholas was deliberately playing him, but he hadn't intended to expose Nicholas.
However, Nicholas was becoming bolder and dared to bargain directly in front of him, using himself as the bargaining chip.
Facing Gabriel's cold gaze, Nicholas quickly turned his head as if he hadn't seen it, then leaned in next to Michael, patting his shoulder and massaging his leg, pleading with Michael not to restrict the balance on his card anymore.
However, Michael completely ignored Nicholas's attempts to please him, focusing solely on Gabriel standing at the door. Without any intention of beating around the bush, he asked directly, "Got a girlfriend?"
"Why didn't you tell the family?"
"When are you bringing her for me to see?"
"Did you bring her today? Invite her in to sit!"
"Nicholas said she's a very pretty girl. Clean and straightforward, the kind that people like at first sight."
Nicholas, who was busily massaging Michael's shoulders, quickly chimed in, "Grandpa, my future sister-in-law is a very good girl! You'll definitely be pleased!"
"As long as she's a good girl, I won't force you into a marriage like I did back then. You're not someone I can force. Look at me now, how laid-back I am!"
"So , since you have a girlfriend, why haven't you brought her home yet?"
"Which family is she from? What's her name? You really haven't brought her here."
"When are you planning to get married? When will you give me a great-grandchild? Boy or girl is OK; I don't mind; I love them all! Hurry up and have a few more while I can still move. I'll help you take care of the children!"
Gabriel cast a casual glance at Nicholas, who was massaging Michael's back, so light that it was hard to discern any emotion. Nicholas, however, suddenly felt a chill down his spine and sensed he was about to be punished.
He quickly made up an excuse about a stomach ache and rushed off to the restroom, leaving Gabriel alone to face Michael's interrogation.
Jessica was indeed close to wrapping up on the set of "Charles II."  In order to get some additional shots, she had to put in a few more night scenes. She ended up filming non-stop for two full days and a night, only catching a few hours of sleep in the nanny car before continuing, finally returning to rest the next evening.
The nanny car stopped in front of her old neighborhood, and when Jessica woke up in the car and saw where they were, she realized she had forgotten to tell the driver her current address.
However, she wasn't in a rush to go back to Blue Bay Apartments; instead, she had the driver take her to Mackenzie's studio.
Upon arriving at the studio, Mackenzie had just finished a few phone calls. Seeing Jessica arrive directly after completing filming, she quickly pulled her into a small meeting room inside.
"Are we wrapping up next week? Can you spare some time to shoot promotional videos these two days?" Mackenzie noticed Jessica looking tired and made her a cup of coffee.
Jessica took the coffee and said, "Yes, we're in the final stages of touching up some key scenes. Time might be a bit tight, so if the filming team from Tilans can't adjust their arrival time, I can take a two-day leave from the production."
"Alright, I'll talk to the production team. We're almost done anyway, so we'll try not to delay both the filming and the endorsement."
Jessica nodded, holding the coffee cup and looking at Mackenzie. "How did the negotiation with Tilans go? My background has been hyped up outside, with all sorts of identities attributed to me. In their eyes, I'm almost becoming the Thanos set to control the entertainment industry."
Pointing to herself, Jessica continued, "See, the Thanos of the entertainment industry is right in front of you. Why don't you come clean with me?"
Mackenzie chuckled, "Enjoy your coffee. You've been up all night, so go back and rest early. Your health is important."
Jessica sat in the studio, exchanging banter with Mackenzie, but in the end, she didn't get much information. She only knew that the endorsement offer from Tilans was a done deal, with a lot of sincerity and great benefits, and there was no second choice but Jessica.
Back at Blue Bay Apartments, after taking a shower without blow-drying her hair, Jessica took out her phone to check if there was any connection between Tilans and the Harriman Group.
The search results were limited; there was no direct relationship between the two companies. However, the Harriman Group had participated in Tilans' Series B financing years ago, rescuing the then newly established and somewhat famous Tilans brand, and in recent years had become the largest financier behind Tilans.
Jessica quickly texted Gabriel, who saw the message as he sat in the car. Jessica: [Mr. Harriman, next time you want to help me vent, just give me a simple opportunity to retaliate. There is no need to make it so grand. Being the spokesperson for a brand like Tilans is very prestigious. Are you really at ease with all these great benefits being given to me?]
Then, she quickly followed up with another message.
Jessica: [Of course, I am very aware of my current position. I'm afraid of holding you back. This is just an immature suggestion, but I am deeply grateful for your help!]
After sending the messages, Jessica ran her hand through her still-damp hair.
While it felt great to have the backing of a benefactor, she couldn't bring herself to be so complacent. What if she didn't perform well and embarrassed Gabriel? That would be truly humiliating!
On the other end, she received Gabriel's reply.
Gabriel: [Tilans doesn't need celebrity influencers; I trust in your abilities.]
Jessica: [I am deeply grateful for your great kindness!]
Gabriel fell silent.
After a moment, he sent a message.
Gabriel: [Then it's your turn to return the favor! Come to the office to see me at 4 p.m. on Sunday.]
