Chapter 484 What? Who's pregnant?
Jessica was originally lying on the sofa, but she vaguely heard Jimmy's voice on Gabriel's phone.
She turned her head and glanced, peeking in Gabriel's direction over the back of the sofa.
Gabriel had just come out of the shower, holding his phone in one hand and draping a towel over his shoulder with the other. She couldn't hear clearly, but it seemed like Jimmy's voice, though the content was unclear.
Gabriel said, "I understand."
After hanging up, he turned around to see Jessica pressing her face against the back of the sofa, only her eyes showing as she blinked a few times and asked, "Is there something in the Country M that needs your attention? Didn't Landon go there a while ago?"
"just some leftover issues from a financial case we funded years ago." Gabriel put down his phone and came over to touch Jessica's already dry hair. "It's almost eleven, why don't you go to bed?"
Jessica leaned her face into his hand, closed her eyes, and sighed, "Eugene called again just now, asking to meet me tomorrow. His intentions are obvious, but given the current situation, I can't refuse him. "
"Where's the meeting?" Gabriel asked.
Jessica took out her phone, found the map location, and showed it to him.
Gabriel glanced at it, then continued to dry his hair as he walked around the sofa and sat down, "I'll go with you tomorrow."
Jessica leaned into his arms. "I feel like you're really busy. You can't leave the company, and there's stuff in the Country M that needs handling, but you still stay in Washington with me."
"Don't want me to stay with?" Gabriel raised an eyebrow.
"Not at all. I feel safe with you around." Jessica smiled, snuggling into his arms, rubbing her head against his chest, and inhaling the scent of his body wash with a contented sigh. "Life is good like this. I don't want it to change."
If the situation with the Jenner family changed, she would be forced into a position where she couldn't escape , and this peaceful, easy life would be far from her.
Gabriel stroked her hair, soothing her like a child. "If you don't want it to change, it won't."
Jessica hummed in his arms with her eyes closed. "Actually, not acting, being in the entertainment industry, working behind the scenes, and going back to the Jenner family, just being a rich wife in the Harriman family in Xyleria, isn't bad. Danielle often says she's the little princess and I'm the big princess. A princess shouldn't live such a tiring life."
Suddenly, Jessica was lifted into the air and thrown onto the bed.
She instinctively grabbed Gabriel's neck and said, "Being thrown onto the bed is not how a princess should be treated. At next time, you should put me down gently and slowly."
Gabriel's eyes were filled with visible desire. His voice was low and husky as he pressed close to her lips. "Okay. But first, let me taste what a princess is like."
Recently, although Jessica had many trivial matters to deal with in Washington, she didn't have to get up early for work, and Gabriel also had a rare few days off.
So, when she was being tasted at night, the intensity and duration were somewhat strong.
With plenty of time, Jessica was thoroughly exhausted before finally falling asleep in the latter half of the night.
At dawn, Jessica woke up and found Gabriel was not by her side.
She wasn't very full from last night's dinner and felt a bit hungry. She got up to find some snacks, remembering that there was a fridge in the small kitchen of the hotel suite with plenty of free high-end snacks and drinks.
As she was about to go over, she noticed Gabriel in the small study of the hotel suite, video chatting with someone. The door was open, and as she walked by, she caught a glimpse of a map of some place in the Country M on the screen, with several red dots marked on it, and Jimmy's voice coming from the computer.
Jessica only took a quick look and didn't disturb him. She opened the fridge, intending to grab a snack, but since Gabriel probably hadn't eaten much at last night either, she decided to make two bowls of instant noodles.
Just as she finished making the noodles and was about to take them to the study, Gabriel came over. "It's not even light out yet. Why aren't you sleeping?"
"A bit hungry. I made you a bowl too." Jessica pointed to the instant noodles and then headed to the sofa, indicating they should eat together at the coffee table.
In order to carry two bowls of noodles steadily, she almost had to bend over as she came out of the kitchen, looking sneaky as she brought the noodles to the sofa and carefully placed them on the coffee table, sitting down and waiting to eat as if it were a grand feast.
Gabriel chuckled and walked over, not minding at all. He picked up his bowl, used the small fork inside to scoop some noodles, and saw Jessica already eating, holding the fork in one hand and pushing her long hair back with the other, eating with great relish.
After eating some noodles with her, Gabriel suddenly said, "Cynthia is pregnant."
Jessica choked on her noodles and almost coughed them up. After coughing for a while, she looked up, shocked. "What? Who's pregnant?"
Gabriel, holding his bowl of noodles, looked at her with a calm expression, watching her shocked reaction.
Gabriel sitting on the sofa eating instant noodles with her still looked so good.
Jessica pulled out a tissue to wipe her mouth, coughed twice more, and then asked incredulously, "Cynthia is pregnant? Who did it?"
Gabriel gave her a "you're stating the obvious" look.
Cynthia and Jimmy?
Did Jimmy finally come around or get bold enough to actually get Cynthia...
Didn't he cut ties with her back then to avoid her "unconventional feelings"?
Jessica put down her fork and picked up her phone several times but put it down again, finally finishing the broth in her bowl to show her frustration.
In the next afternoon, at Washington's Golden Fortune Restaurant. Eugene had booked this restaurant, which, although styled like an old establishment, had actually been open for less than two years.
Jessica and Gabriel got out of the car and glanced at the sign, then they followed the waiter inside.
Just before entering, Jessica looked around and noticed that it wasn't a bustling area. Many of the surrounding shops were large but somewhat desolate, and there weren't many people on the street ahead.
Gabriel squeezed her hand, signaling her to stay quiet, and quickly sent out their location from both their phones.
Jessica glanced at the first-floor lobby of the Golden Fortune Restaurant and casually asked the waiter, "It's almost dinner time. Why is the first floor so empty?"
