Chapter 169 Gabriel's Difficult Words
While Mackenzie's words 'You're not right' barely fazed Jessica, Gabriel's identical phrase struck her with tenfold intensity, leaving her breath slightly irregular.
Indeed, something was off.
Jessica quickly took back the thermometer, hurriedly passed by him, and ran from the bedroom into the kitchen to calm down.
She placed the stomach-nourishing soup she had been simmering for a long time on the dining table.
Gabriel, giving face, took a few sips, realizing that it tasted good, but it seemed like she had added a lot of things to it.
Jessica thought to herself, 'rumors outside about Gabriel being noble, aloof, mysterious, and difficult to approach, weren't he quite easy to serve?'
Almost causing him to have a stomach bleed, yet he didn't fly into a rage. Just a bowl of stomach-nourishing soup from her seemed to appease him.
Jessica asked, "Is it delicious?"
"Not bad. What did you put in it?"
"The things I brought back from your family last time, the supplements Michael gave me." Jessica smiled slyly. "Since I can't eat those things anyway, I ground a few slices of ginseng and deer antler into powder and put them in."
Upon hearing this, Gabriel suddenly set down his spoon.
Jessica blinked. "What's wrong? I thought you said it was delicious?"
Gabriel replied, "One bowl is enough; too much will cause heaviness."
Jessica didn't believe it. She had sincerely simmered a whole morning's medicinal stomach-nourishing soup for him, and she didn't put too much, just ground a few slices into powder.
She had intended to take advantage of the opportunity to nourish his stomach since the doctor had mentioned that his physical condition was always good, except for his stomach issues.
Since she couldn't finish the good things brought out by the Harriman family, she just happened not to have lunch, so she served herself some. She drank two bowls of stomach-nourishing soup without hesitation, saying, "It's indeed delicious. Are you sure you don't want another bowl?"
Before she could finish her sentence, she suddenly felt a heat in her nose. She instinctively raised her hand to cover her bleeding nose, then looked at Gabriel, sitting calmly at the dining table, with a face of astonishment.
Seeing Jessica anxiously covering her bleeding nose and rushing towards the bathroom, the sound of rushing water filled the air.
While rinsing her nose with cold water, Jessica loudly asked him, "Why didn't you stop me from drinking the second bowl of stomach-nourishing soup?"
Gabriel found it hard to put his feelings into words.
Mackenzie dragged Jessica out to choose a dress. Jessica had never attended any formal award ceremonies or dinners before, and the studio had never arranged a fixed-fitting location for her.
Now suddenly facing Tilans's banquet, Mackenzie seemed to be on edge. Fortunately, as the spokesperson for the entire line, Tilans was responsible for everything that evening, including the dress and accessories, including the vehicle. Many exclusive dress high-end centers in the city, which were usually not open to the public, also opened their doors upon hearing the news.
Jessica remembered that the clothes at the image design center Gabriel had taken her to last time were quite good.
Although she changed on the first floor at that time, she noticed that the second and third floors were probably places specifically for custom-made dresses, so she decided to take Mackenzie there.
Although the brand party was in charge of everything, the visit was sudden, and there was no appointment.
The store manager they had met last time was not in the store today.
Instead, a young and pretty clerk with a professional smile on her face led them to the second floor.
Several sets of dresses they tried on were very nice. It was no wonder that this store was the clothing styling place used by the Harriman Group for the annual meeting.
Even the less popular dress designs were beautiful, either graceful and generous, playful and lively, or noble and dignified.
Jessica could handle any style, so every dress she put on looked great on her.
Mackenzie, meanwhile, was having trouble deciding. She didn't know which one to choose.
A style that was elegant and generous would be better for the role of Tilans spokesperson. But should she choose the gold one or the blue one?
The clerk serving them had good manners and didn't rush them, giving them quiet space to hesitate. She went out to make them lemon water.
"I like the gold one." Mackenzie always liked things with a royal flair, and she couldn't resist gold items. Seeing Jessica in it looked really good. She really wanted Jessica to wear the gold dress to outshine the others.
Jessica smirked. "If it were an awards ceremony, I would definitely make the same choice as you."
After a moment of contemplation, Mackenzie agreed. This was the beauty and makeup awards exhibition dinner arranged by Tilans. Even as a spokesperson, she shouldn't be overly ostentatious.
"But although the blue one looks good on you, it's a bit too ordinary. If the aura of the Tilans spokesperson isn't held up, those in the industry who are watching you might be gossiping behind your back," Mackenzie said.
At this moment, faint footsteps could be heard outside, and another clerk's voice sounded eagerly, "Mrs. Jenner, Miss Trinity, please come this way."
Jessica, in her dress, paused slightly as she fixed her hair, looking through the glass mirror towards the closed door.
"Last time, Miss Trinity tried on several dresses and reserved some evening gifts and dresses for business events, but the wedding dresses haven't been finalized yet."
"Miss Trinity has made an appointment with our chief designer, Mr. Leken, from our F country, to tailor her wedding dress. However, he won't be available until the end of next month. Miss Trinity and Mr. Chloe's wedding is still a few months away, so there's plenty of time."
Jessica and Mackenzie were in the VIP room, while Trinity and her mother were invited to another VIP room next door.
Since the Twitter incident where Mackenzie, who was once a fan of that movie, lost all favor for Trinity, she didn't want to hear about Trinity. When she heard that Trinity had arrived, she pretended not to hear and continued to look through the catalog, helping Jessica choose a dress.
The clerk brought in a cup of lemon water and a pot of fine coffee for them to choose from, providing service to Jessica.
Just as Mackenzie saw a few other sets of dresses in the catalog and wanted Jessica to try them on, the clerk said those sets were in another fitting room and asked Jessica to try them on there.
Jessica changed out of the dress and followed the clerk out. The clerk was quick and had already gone to the other fitting room to find the dresses. Mackenzie received a phone call and went to the other side.
As Jessica passed by the VIP fitting room next door since the clerk inside had also gone out to make coffee, the door wasn't completely closed, leaving a gap. The conversation between Trinity and her mother could be heard outside.
"Why didn't Keegan accompany you this time?" Mrs. Jenner's voice was not very loud, almost deliberately lowered, but it was clear in the quiet corridor.
