Chapter 215 Gabriel's Hand on the Back of Her Head, Pressing Her

Milton was panting heavily, his waist bent downward, and his hands weakly propped on his knees, struggling to catch his breath. He looked disheveled as he stared at the indifferent man. The next second, he suddenly turned and ran in the opposite direction.

As expected, he was immediately blocked by the traffic police who had already formed a perimeter behind him.

Milton coughed forcefully, trying to struggle, occasionally turning his head to see where that Jessica had escaped to. But all around him were traffic cops and Sunshine Bay City police officers who had gotten out of their cars and approached.

The man who had stepped out of the black Bentley walked over.

Milton's heart raced, knowing he was completely trapped. He looked around with a cold, sinister gaze, feeling as if a cage was closing in on him from all sides.

Milton had never expected that these people were coming directly for him and were not going after Jessica.

"Who are you ?"

"Why are you helping that bitch?"

"She just crashed into a lot of public property with her car, and you're not chasing her!"

"Are you in cahoots with Jessica?"

"Don't move!"

Milton shouted and struggled violently, but the police had already moved in and cuffed his wrists, quickly finding two knives and a container of ether gas in his jacket pocket.

However, he clearly hadn't had a chance to use them. His eyes were bloodshot, obviously having been sprayed with a lot of pepper spray.

"Mr. Harriman."

A traffic cop rode up on a motorcycle and spoke quietly to Gabriel in the black trench coat, "That lady was stopped by a police car, but she's very agitated and in bad condition. She has a head injury and seems severely traumatized, not allowing anyone to touch her."

"Wayne." Gabriel turned his head.

Wayne, who had come with the Bentley, quickly stepped forward.

Usually, Landon handled these external matters for the company alongside Gabriel. It was Wayne's first time involved in such an incident, and his blood was boiling with excitement. He had heard some of Gabriel's lesser-known exploits in the U.S. , and even the current situation of surrounding and blocking a minor thug in Z City, a small place, was exciting enough for him. He couldn't imagine what it was like for Landon to follow Gabriel in the U.S. all those years.

"You go to the police station."

Upon hearing the order, Wayne quickly nodded. "I'll keep a close watch on this guy the whole time."

Gabriel glanced at Wayne, who looked excited as if he was finally being given an important task. Without much expression, Gabriel turned and headed to the other exit of the alley.

Jessica stumbled around in the alley, blocked on both sides by police officers. The sound of sirens blared in her ears. Her mind was in chaos. Ultimately, she clutched her bag helplessly, holding a can of pepper spray in her other hand, scanning her surroundings in panic and vigilance. Her eyes, usually clear and bright, were now red and swollen. The blood on her forehead had not yet dried, and a trickle of blood still flowed down her cheek, rolling down her face, and dripping onto her shoulder.

Gabriel walked around the corner of the alley and saw Jessica squatting in the middle, her eyes filled with confusion and fear as she looked around.

Jessica's eyes seemed to hold immense terror, clouding all her rational thoughts. It was as if years of nightmares and fears had completely engulfed her, immersing her in an even more terrifying nightmare that escaped from reality. He walked towards her.

Jessica heard the footsteps and suddenly looked up, but it seemed she didn't recognize him. Her eyes were filled with vigilance and fear as she clutched the pepper spray tightly, hoarsely shouting, "Don't come any closer!"

"Jessica."

Gabriel didn't stop walking. As he got closer, Jessica quickly stood up and backed away, raising the pepper spray to use it on him.

Gabriel's arm moved faster than hers. As the pepper spray was about to be released, he dodged to the side and grabbed her wrist, snatching the spray from her hand and throwing it to the ground. At the same time, he pulled her into his arms as she screamed and struggled desperately.

"Jessica, calm down, look at who I am!"

Jessica in his arms struggled desperately, devoid of any rationality, her mouth emitting desperate cries drowned in immense fear.

Gabriel had thought that seeing Jessica in the middle of the night looking for medicine after a nightmare was an extreme but rare occurrence in her otherwise calm and stable personality. However, he hadn't expected her to be so devastated.

What kind of nightmare had pushed her to this point?

What kind of shock had thrown her into such an inescapable state of despair?

A realization that he could roughly guess formed in his mind.

"Jessica!" Gabriel held her tightly, preventing her from breaking free and ensuring she didn't hurt herself.

He looked down and saw the blood on her shoulder.

Jessica had left the house wearing a cream-colored shearling coat, now stained with blood.

The wound on her forehead was equally shocking.

The sky had already darkened, and the temperature in Sunshine Bay City had dropped below freezing. To make it easier to change clothes at the set, she had worn only a thin layer under her coat.

Gabriel held her close, freeing one hand to remove his trench coat. Without giving her a chance to struggle or refuse, he wrapped it around her firmly. He then looked down at Jessica, cupping her cold face and soothing her softly, "I'm here. It's me, Jessica. There's no one else. Look at me. It's me! Calm down! Jessica!"

Jessica couldn't break free from him. Her struggles gradually weakened as his words sank in, her eyes almost vacant as she stared at him.

She took several deep breaths, trembling all over as she looked at him.

But she couldn't utter a single word.

"Do you recognize me?" Gabriel held her tightly, shielding her from the cold wind in the alley by pressing her against the wall. He looked into her eyes. "Listen to me. You did well. No matter what the person who tried to hurt you today wanted, he didn't succeed. The police have taken him away. You're safe now, very safe. Trust me."

Jessica took a long time to calm down. She saw blood on Gabriel's white shirt collar and his hands, clearly from her struggles. Her blood had smeared onto him.

She leaned weakly against the wall, or perhaps she didn't lean at all, as Gabriel's arm was behind her, preventing her from touching the cold wall.

Seeing her still shaken and clearly not yet recovered from the fright, Gabriel placed his hand on the back of her head, pressing her against his shoulder, holding her tightly, and gently stroking her head.

He leaned close to her ear and said in a deep, husky voice, "You did well. You were brave. It's all over now. Don't be afraid."
