Chapter 103 Don't Smash Me with Money

Jessica and Mackenzie arranged to discuss future cooperation with the advertising party. Just as they entered a pleasant conversation, Jessica's cellphone went silent, and she missed a message.
In the afternoon, after finishing her tasks around 2 o'clock, she sat in the car and finally saw Gabriel's WhatsApp message.
Gabriel: [What time will you be home tonight?]
The message was sent at 9:45 in the morning.
Gabriel: [Transfer: $27,000.]
Gabriel: [Transfered$27,000.]
Gabriel: [Transfered$27,000.]
Jessica saw a row of transfer messages and couldn't help but twitch her mouth, quickly replying to him on WhatsApp.
Jessica: [I was busy just now and didn't check my cellphone. Even if I didn't respond to your WhatsApp, you don't have to smash me with money!]
After replying, she put down her cellphone and saw Mackenzie coming out with the responsible person from the advertising party, chatting and laughing. After saying goodbye, Mackenzie knocked on Jessica's car door. "Do you have a performance in the afternoon? Will you ride with me or drive by yourself?"
Just as Jessica was about to speak, her cellphone on her lap lit up. She glanced down and then said, "It will probably be dark by the time I get home tonight, so I'll drive myself."
"Alright, I'll head back to the studio. Don't forget the time we arranged with them. Come for makeup and fittings on Saturday afternoon."
"Okay."
Jessica picked up her cellphone again.
Gabriel: [I'm just confirming if I've been blocked.]
Jessica: [Your way of confirmation is quite unique!]
Seeing the row of transfers, she knew without counting that it was at least overone hundred thousand dollars , but she didn't accept them.
Suddenly, her cellphone rang again, and Gabriel asked again.
Gabriel: [What time will you be home tonight?]
Thinking that he had been spending time with Danielle for a while and was a bit concerned about Danielle, worried that no one would pick up the child, she checked the time and replied.
Jessica: [I have two-night scenes today, so I probably won't be home until late at nine. Danielle stays at the kindergarten; she's used to it, so she'll be fine.]
There was no further reply from Gabriel.
On the set of 'Charles II'.
Director Joseph had just finished reviewing the morning shots when his assistant brought him water. As he sipped, he looked at the afternoon script. Suddenly, Murdock, the producer, called and said that the leader from Harriman Entertainment had arrived.
Joseph almost spit out his drink.
Wasn't it said that there was a sudden change in leadership at Harriman Entertainment?
It was said that Nicholas from the Harriman family, who hadn't even attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony, had no intention of overseeing their production.
Today was his first visit.
Director Joseph wiped his mouth, got up quickly, and went out to greet Nicholas.
But as Joseph walked all the way to the parking lot near the set, all he saw was a strange Ferrari parked there, with no sign of its owner.
"Wasn't Nicholas supposed to be here? Where is he?"
"He was here just now, but I don't know what he saw. He suddenly said he had something to do and went straight into the shooting area."
Nicholas didn't make a big fuss about his visit. He just drove over alone to see what level of production this show was.
He hadn't planned to see Jessica today to avoid raising her suspicions accidentally, but as soon as he parked his car, he noticed Jessica's white Audi parked in front.
This car was too familiar to him!
Knowing that she was filming inside, he became interested and walked over to take a look.
Jessica didn't have many scenes in the afternoon. She mainly followed the lead actors as a background with few lines. Most of the time, she just needed to be captured from the back for the shot under the direction of the assistant director.
While on set, she spotted Director Joseph rushing her way, scanning the crowd. Suddenly, he broke into a smile and strolled over to shake hands with someone. There was a machine blocking her view, so she couldn't see who it was.
After finishing the scene, Jessica went back to her nannycar to rest.
Nicholas had just seen Jessica's back, and Director Joseph had arrived. Joseph warmly greeted Nicholas and introduced himself while Murdock, came over from the other side.
Joseph and Murdock discussed the current situation and the progress of the shoot in detail, with Nicholas standing there patiently listening until Joseph finished explaining the situation. He then noticed that Nicholas seemed not to have paid much attention. Joseph quickly said, "I apologize for not offering you a seat earlier. There are chairs in the rest area, Nicholas. Please go in and sit."
"No need, carry on with what you were doing." Nicholas slightly raised his hand. "I'll just take a look around, you guys..."
Before he could finish his sentence, Deborah, who had been quietly listening behind them for a while, approached Director Joseph with a polite smile. "Director Joseph, I just had two close-up shots, and I'm most satisfied with my expressions and emotions at the moment. If you have time, could you take a look at those shots and give me some guidance?"
Joseph noticed Deborah approaching Nicholas subtly as she spoke. Being sensitive to these female stars in the industry and their intentions to gain fame by associating with wealthy individuals, he didn't bother to expose her intentions and just casually replied, "Sure."
Deborah smiled and then turned to the tall and handsome Nicholas beside her. "Is this the new young actor hired by the crew? I haven't seen him before."
As she spoke, she reached out her hand. "Hello, I'm Deborah."
Nicholas had been glancing toward the direction of the set since earlier, and he hadn't noticed Deborah who suddenly approached him.
When he heard her voice, he suddenly looked at Deborah, who had appeared out of nowhere. He glanced at her pointed chin and then casually swept his gaze over her obviously overfilled forehead with dermal fillers. Suppressing the urge to roll his eyes, he completely ignored her and quickly turned around, scanning the surroundings.
Where did his sister-in-law go? Wasn't she just filming inside?
Facing Nicholas's indifference, Deborah didn't give up. She naturally turned towards Murdock to say a few words, but Murdock didn't even look at her, picked up his cellphone, turned away, and seemed to be discussing production matters, not wanting to be disturbed.
Joseph instructed someone to quickly bring out a chair from the rest area for Nicholas to sit on, busy arranging for tea to be served and didn't pay much attention to her.
Deborah glanced at Nicholas, who was looking around, and lightly touched his elbow. "Hey, which role are you guest-starring in? I..."
Nicholas suddenly shook off her hand in annoyance, without even looking back, and walked towards the rest area. He didn't spare another glance back.
He thought, 'I don't even know her. Why does she keep approaching me?'
Nicholas wasn't someone who could be easily swayed. Not just any woman could catch his attention.
As Nicholas headed to the rest area, he abruptly took off the part of his suit jacket Deborah had touched and tossed it carelessly into a pile, causing Deborah's face to pale slightly.
