Chapter 145 What a Childish Little Drunkard
Outside the main hall, Jessica was being carried out a few steps by Gabriel.
As the late autumn wind blew, completely intoxicated, her head rested on Gabriel 's shoulder, her whole body leaning against him, eyes closed, humming to herself, "I can still drink... I can still..."
Gabriel adjusted her coat, looking down at her.
"Spencer..." Jessica suddenly raised her hand, poking his chin with her finger, her face flushed with alcohol, squinting her eyes. "I... want to tell you... you are really... so... ugh..."
Jessica suddenly retched, turning her head as if to vomit on the ground.
Gabriel set her down, supporting her to the edge of the lawn in the Harriman family garden. Jessica staggered, leaning most of her body on him, tilting her head but unable to vomit anything despite trying for a long time. Finally, she wiped her clean mouth with her hand and took a deep breath with satisfaction. "Ah... refreshing..."
Unable to vomit anything, she didn't know what she found refreshing.
Suddenly, Jessica spun around, her face alight with giggles. She lifted her hand and poked his chin again, chuckling, "Teehee..."
As Gabriel bent down to lift her again, Jessica instinctively reached out and hugged his neck tightly, causing Gabriel to lift her horizontally. Their faces brushed against each other, her lips lightly touching his cheek as she tried to speak.
After being lifted, she hugged Gabriel's neck with a satisfied expression, saying, "Did you hear? They said I... I am... an advanced artist... in the future... decades later... when I'm old..."
Glancing at her for a moment, Gabriel said, "With your current appearance, if a random photo of you goes out, your artist's dream would shatter."
He watched her for a while as Jessica lay her head on his shoulder, mumbling unclear words.
Gabriel sighed softly, carrying her into a three-story Gothic villa in the backyard of the Harriman family estate.
Sarah had prepared a sobering drink and rushed over. Seeing Gabriel carrying Jessica into the bedroom on the second floor, she quickly went to help uncover the blankets on the bed.
Gabriel laid Jessica on the bed and heard Sarah say, "After drinking so much, she'll probably have a headache and stomach ache tomorrow morning. Let me make sure she drinks the sobering drink. Mr. Harriman, you go back to the main hall to see off the guests. I'll take care of things here."
Jessica, lying on the bed, was restless, frequently pulling at her collar.
Although her new outfit looked good, lying in bed in a warm room made her feel stuffy, exacerbated by the effects of alcohol, making her increasingly restless and frequently tugging at her collar.
Her collarbones occasionally peeked out, and she was still unaware of the unfamiliar surroundings and Gabriel in the room. If her outfit wasn't so difficult to remove, she would have wanted to strip it off and roll around on the bed.
"Alright."
Gabriel temporarily left Jessica in Sarah's care, then went to the adjacent bedroom to take a shower, changing out his shirt, which smelled of alcohol. After changing into a new outfit, he returned to the main hall, where only a few guests remained. After a brief chat with some old acquaintances from the Harriman family, he politely saw them off.
Upon returning to the bedroom, Jessica had already been helped into the bathroom by Sarah for a quick wash. Her hair was still wet, and she was wearing a bathrobe Sarah had found for her, lying on the bed looking completely out of it.
"Mr. Harriman." Sarah saw him come back, walking over and saying, "Miss Jessica said she was hot just now and wanted to take a bath, so I helped her into the bathroom for a quick wash. There were no suitable clothes for her to wear, so I gave her a spare bathrobe. I'll take her dirty clothes for dry cleaning and have them ready for her tomorrow morning."
"Okay."
"Also, she has already drunk the sobering drink. Miss Jessica is quite cautious. She didn't know me, and when she opened her eyes and saw me, she was hesitant to drink at first. I had to tell her several times that this is the Harriman family, and I am a servant in your household before she reluctantly drank it." Sarah couldn't help but chuckle at Jessica's drunken and guarded expression just now.
Gabriel nodded lightly. "Sarah, go attend to your duties."
"Okay." Sarah nodded at Gabriel and was about to leave when she suddenly remembered something. She turned back to look at Jessica, who still had wet hair and was lying on the bed. Seeing Mr. Harriman seemingly intending to let Miss Jessica sleep in his own bedroom like this, Sarah smiled again and promptly closed the door.
Upon hearing the door close, Gabriel didn't turn around. Walking to the bedside, Jessica was seen lying flat on the bed, uncomfortably due to her wet hair.
The hairdryer Sarah had just brought was placed on the bedside table, unused.
As Jessica stirred in her sleep, she suddenly turned her head towards him.
Gabriel leaned down, helping her move her wet hair to one side. However, Jessica frowned, raising her hand to push his hand away. "Don't touch..."
Feeling the slightly cool, damp hair between his fingers, Gabriel withdrew his hand and directly grabbed the hairdryer to dry her hair.
The silent hairdryer didn't make much noise, gently blowing warm air through her hair.
As Jessica moved, he held her firmly with one hand, preventing her from moving around. When she turned her head, he easily moved the hair on her neck to the side for easier drying.
Feeling the warm air on her neck, Jessica felt hot and wanted to raise her hand to push it away, but being held down, she grumbled unhappily and suddenly opened her eyes. She was staring at Gabriel, who was bending over to blow-dry her hair, raising her hand to grab his wrist in annoyance.
"Behave, stop being difficult." Gabriel skillfully avoided her unruly hand.
With a resistant expression, Jessica turned her head away from the warm breeze on her neck, saying, "Don't blow. It's hot!"
"It'll be over soon."
"I don't want it. I don't want to be blown."
Jessica suddenly rolled over to the other side of the bed to avoid it.
Gabriel hadn't expected her audacity as she just rolled away from him. As he was about to lean in and retrieve her, Jessica turned her head with a triumphant smirk, teasing him. "You can't catch me!"
'What an immature little tipsy troublemaker,' Gabriel thought.
Yet, in an instant, he had Jessica under control. Once her hair, flicked in annoyance, was dry, she was released. Hair wildly tousled, she sat on the bed resembling a lunatic, shooting Gabriel a glare through her hair for daring to confiscate the hairdryer.
