Chapter 694 Sweet Extra of Couple Variety Show 179
"Where are the cigarettes?" Jessica asked.
Brent grumbled, "Why do I have to show footage of me going out in the middle of the night to buy cigarettes for this case? Marshall, you're up to something shady. Why don't you just show the footage of your crew secretly contacting the suspect?"
He reluctantly pointed upstairs. "The cigarettes are in the suitcase. The photographer filmed it earlier. It's not evidence at all."
Marshall didn't respond. He tapped the board in front of him, signaling everyone to keep watching the projector.
The screen still showed footage from around midnight. Hugo was dressed in tight black workout clothes, with a matching small canvas bag strapped to his arm. He had also left the hotel.
From the time he left to the time he returned, it was nearly an hour.
Hugo, seeing Brent being filmed, knew he couldn't escape either. He raised his hands in surrender and said, "Look at my outfit. I was clearly out for a morning run. As new actors, we have high standards for our physique. There's no place to work out while filming, so I went for a run. Elise can vouch for me."
Elise glanced at him, then quickly turned to Jessica, distancing herself. "I can't vouch for that. We're not a real couple, and we don't live together. How would I know why you went out at that hour? Don't drag me into this."
Hugo gritted his teeth. "You saw me running every morning at school!"
Elise shrugged. "School was school. Now we're filming a show. Who knows if you're trying to trick me into getting involved? I don't know anything."
Hugo pointed at her. "Elise, I think you're up to no good. Maybe the suspect isn't one of the male contestants but one of the female contestants, and you're hiding it to frame us."
He turned to Marshall. "Marshall is all about Ms. Jenner. He's not on my side. How are we supposed to film?"
Elise sighed and gestured towards Amy with her eyes, then looked back at Hugo. "Yeah, how are we supposed to film?"
Amy, seemingly dragged into the conversation, glanced at them and then turned to Marshall.
Kevin watched silently, but he subtly glanced at Amy.
Noticing Kevin's gaze, Amy looked up and met his eyes. Seeing the faint amusement in Kevin's eyes, she felt embarrassed and scratched her cheek, deciding not to look at him anymore.
Amy thought to herself that she and Kevin had started as a fake couple, too.
Kevin moved closer to her and suddenly reached out to squeeze her cold hand.
She paused, thinking, 'Fake couples can still become real couples.'
Hugo rubbed his nose and fell silent, but his eyes still drifted towards Amy.
Seeing Amy's indifferent expression, he couldn't help but smile.
Amy was the youngest in the crew, with a lively and straightforward personality. Since returning to the country, she had acted in several dramas, though only in supporting roles, but she had left a lasting impression.
