By the time they had cleaned the cave enough to sit down comfortably, it was almost 4 AM.
Even though everyone had slept for a long time on the bus during the day, the fatigue from their body clocks was still hard to resist.
It was still raining outside, but fortunately, the cave had been tidied up enough to accommodate everyone.
The weather in Majestic City was hot, and although the wind and rain came in the early hours, the cave didn't feel cold. All they needed was a sleeping bag each to keep the island's dampness at bay.
Jessica was just about to get into her sleeping bag for a rest when Gabriel motioned for her to sleep on the outer side while he took the inner side. She glanced at the cave wall and noticed that bits of dirt occasionally fell from it. If she slept on the inner side, it could easily get into her nose. She waved her hand, refusing to switch places.
Just as Jessica got into her sleeping bag, she suddenly felt a tight grip around her waist. Gabriel's long arm had pulled her over without a word.
"Hey, what are you doing?" Brent exclaimed.
Jessica almost let out a cry, but in the next moment, Gabriel gently placed her on the outer side and zipped her sleeping bag up to her neck, giving her no chance to struggle. He then placed his own sleeping bag on the inner side and lay down without saying another word.
Seeing Gabriel's actions, everyone understood he was looking out for Jessica. Brent rubbed his nose and didn't say anything further. Everyone was tired, so they followed suit, pushing Melissa to the outer side and letting the female guests sleep in the middle while the male guests took the inner side close to the cave wall.
Before falling asleep, Lester suddenly opened his eyes and asked, "Marshall, are you sure this cave is safe? No chance of a sudden collapse or anything, right?"
Marshall waved his hand dismissively. "Nah, it's been checked out. We're good."
Lester gave a thumbs-up and turned over in his sleeping bag, falling asleep immediately.
Jessica also turned slightly, facing Gabriel.
Gabriel's eyelids twitched, and he opened his dark eyes to look at her. He whispered, "Stop staring and go to sleep."
Jessica smiled and puckered her lips at him as if blowing a kiss. Gabriel saw it, his eyes darkening slightly. He leaned over and kissed her on the lips, then unhesitatingly reached out from his sleeping bag to pull Jessica, along with her sleeping bag, into his arms. He whispered in her ear, "Sleep."
This scene was inevitably captured by the show's crew. Marshall watched the monitor, secretly admiring the couple's affection.
The other guests might have heard some noise but were too exhausted to turn their heads. Only Rachel, in the corner, vaguely heard some rustling. She glanced in Gabriel and Jessica's direction and saw their gentle kiss and how naturally Jessica was held in Gabriel's arms. There was no exaggeration, just quiet, unashamed intimacy.
It was genuine.
A very loving, very natural kind of intimacy between a husband and wife.
Rachel turned away, rolling over to face the other direction.
Lester, lying nearby, gave her a lukewarm glance. Rachel, instantly annoyed, turned her head back, inevitably seeing Gabriel gently patting Jessica's back, soothing her like a child.
