Chapter 350 Mr. Harriman Actually Came
Lynn had been in the game for years and knew a lot of investors, some of whom were pretty high up in society. Even though the news about Jessica and Gabriel wasn't widespread, there were still some whispers in certain circles.
Lynn had heard some of the gossip, which wasn't surprising since Jessica was her artist. It made sense for her to know some details when she took over managing Jessica.
"But," Lynn said, looking at Jessica, "seems like those rumors aren't true. You and Mr. Harriman don't seem that close."
Jessica's face remained neutral. She turned back to the mirror, brushing her hair, and replied, "Yeah."
The hotel sorted out the issue quickly. In less than twenty minutes, the manager had an answer.
As Lynn expected, the person who harassed Jessica was a fan who crossed the line. This fan had been tailingJessica's car in other cities and even found out her address in Xyleria. She had money, time, and connections—she was high school classmates with two of the hotel's front desk staff. By slipping them some cash, she got to wear the hotel's uniform and knock on Jessica's door.
The hotel manager pulled up the corridor surveillance footage and, after a thorough investigation, brought two luxury stay packages to personally apologize.
The package included five free stays in the presidential suite and five more at a 90% discount, worth over 100 thousand dollars.
They also gave a platinum card, promising VIP services equivalent to the presidential suite whenever Jessica and her team stayed at this hotel in W City, valid for three years.
Before coming to apologize, they had already arranged lunch from the restaurant, so they could eat well before heading to the airport.
The apology was sincere, and the compensation was generous, not just a token gesture.
Lynn was satisfied and didn't push further.
Jessica had no objections either. Initially, she thought she'd avoid this hotel in the future since it was backed by the Harriman Group. But with such sincere compensation, it seemed she'd be staying here often. The presidential suite in W City costs over one thousand dollars a night. Not using the free stays would be a waste.
After all, certain big shots wouldn't be around for inspections all the time, so no need to avoid them.
Jessica figured she wouldn't run into Gabriel even with those packages in W City. But she was wrong.
When she got back to Xyleria, she saw Gabriel again within ten days.
Seeing the company name on the list of major investors for "Shadow Kill", Jessica asked Mackenzie, puzzled, "Didn't Harriman Entertainment change leadership last year? How come they're still an investor?"
"How would I know? Mr. Harriman handed the company to his deputy early on, but he's still technically in charge. It's not a real leadership change," Mackenzie said, glancing at the internal list. "Wow, no wonder you're asking. Harriman Entertainment invested three billion dollars? They're the main backer for 'Shadow Kill'. Even Sebastian has to call them the main sponsor."
If it were just Harriman Entertainment, it would be one thing.
But the day before "Shadow Kill" started filming, the whole crew gathered in Xyleria to read the script in the afternoon, and there was an early launch party in the evening with many investors showing up to congratulate.
When Jessica got out of the car outside the hotel hosting the launch party, she saw that new Bentley.
All black, sleek, and understated.
And it had a new license plate.
It was the same one she had seen on the road a while ago.
Seeing Jessica glance at the black Bentley, the driver, who had just gotten out and was about to light a cigarette, said, "That Bentley is a beauty. Seems to be the only one in Xyleria. It's a limited edition, comparable to classic models, with excellent performance. But even with money, you might not be able to buy it. You need to be a VIP member in Country Y to have a chance. Those luxury cars running around the streets, even if they cost over a million, can't compare to this one. This is a true symbol of status, low-key yet tasteful. There are only a few in the entire country."
Before the driver finished speaking and had just lit a cigarette, Jessica saw Landon get out of the driver's seat of that car.
Jessica immediately looked away and walked straight into the hotel's main entrance.
When Mackenzie came in from outside, she saw Jessica already sitting at the main table of the launch party, chatting with a few key people. She sat next to Jessica and whispered, "I think I just saw Mr. Harriman. He rarely attends entertainment industry events. Why didn't the deputy from Harriman Entertainment come, and Mr. Nicholas Harriman didn't show up, but Mr. Gabriel Harriman himself came? Harriman Entertainment is just a subsidiary of Harriman Group, right? Does Sebastian have that much pull? He can even get Mr. Gabriel Harriman to come?"
Jessica only gave Mackenzie a look full of confusion, lack of understanding, ignorance, and unfamiliarity.
Kevin, the male lead of the movie, had already arrived and was chatting with some friends at another table. Seeing Jessica already seated at the main table, he politely excused himself from his friends and walked over.
"Am I taking the male lead's seat?" Mackenzie joked as she saw Kevin approaching and quickly stood up to give up her seat.
"Nah, you're good. I'm just here to say hello." Kevin smiled, gesturing for Mackenzie to sit back down. "This table is big enough. You can sit next to Jessica and help her fend off some drinks."
"There will be a lot of media here tonight. How would it look if I sat here? Your name is on this seat." Mackenzie didn't sit back down and motioned for him to take the seat.
Kevin didn't refuse further, smiling as he sat next to Jessica. He noticed she was taking pictures of the table flowers with her phone, looking as if the lively atmosphere around her had nothing to do with her, and she just wanted to post on Instagram.
He gently patted her shoulder and leaned in to whisper, "Ms. Jenner, this is our second collaboration. Give me some face at the launch party. Don't be so distant. Occasionally give our couple fans some benefits. Let's consider it a public service."
