Chapter 373 To Have Someone Who Loves You So Desperately

The doctor said Gabriel's wound was deep, but the trauma area was not large. With the advanced suturing techniques here in Stellaria City, as long as he applied the medication properly and watched his diet, there would hardly be any scars left.

The reason the wound was so deep was because of the metal hook on the chandelier that fell.

The reason they survived was because she wasn't standing directly under the chandelier.

Jessica's foot had already been bandaged. She had only stepped on some shards. After disinfecting and applying medication, it was wrapped in medical gauze. The doctor gave her a pair of hospital disinfected slippers to wear when changing the dressing and advised her to avoid walking and let her foot rest for a few days.

But in this situation, it was impossible for Jessica to really lie down and rest in the consultation room or ward.

Upon coming out, she heard wailing in the hallway of the emergency room on the first floor, where she had just been standing.

"It's tragic. There's basically no hope for those who were just brought in. They were directly hit by the chandelier from above, from the third floor, and each floor of that hotel is very high," one of the nurses sighed.

Another nurse replied, "I heard there was an old lady who just turned 100 today?"

"Yeah, and she had two grandkids with her. The old lady died on the spot, and the two kids are still in emergency care. Their parents have been crying for hours."

"The other two who were killed on the spot were there to wish the old lady a happy birthday. Who could have thought that just saying a few words would lead to their deaths?"

"The metal hooks were long and sharp, they were literally crushed and pierced to death. It's really tragic."

Hearing the nurses and cleaning staff whispering in the hallway, Jessica waited until they finished talking before asking where the first emergency patient had been taken.

The nurse saw the gauze on her foot and heard her asking about the patient's room. Remembering that she had been standing outside the emergency room for a long time, she asked directly, "Are you one of the injured from the Golden Orchid Hotel? You and your boyfriend are really lucky. Although you couldn't completely avoid being hit, at least you avoided fatal injuries."

Jessica glanced at the nurse. She remained silent and didn't explain about the boyfriend, just nodding politely.

She couldn't imagine if she had been directly under the chandelier, would she have been pierced through the brain by the metal hook and died on the spot like the others.

She didn't even know where Gabriel was standing at the time, nor did she notice. She was just going downstairs to wish the old lady a happy birthday with the film crew. It was just a few words, who could have thought it would turn into a bloody scene in an instant.

She still couldn't clearly recall what happened in that critical moment, only remembering a huge force pushing her away from the extremely dangerous spot under the chandelier.

The police were investigating the incident at the Golden Orchid Hotel. But judging by their expressions, they probably guessed it was another dispute among local wealthy families. They were methodically collecting evidence, ignoring the surrounding cries and wails.

The ward was on the sixth floor of Building C in the hospital. Jessica, with her foot wrapped in gauze and wearing slippers, walked to the inpatient department. Seeing her condition, a nurse quickly came to help her walk a few steps.

As Jessica reached to the door of Gabriel's ward, she said, "Thank you."

The nurse replied, "No problem. Are you a family member of the patient? After you come out, remember to complete the patient's information and procedures. Because of the sudden incident today, everyone brought to the hospital by ambulance was treated first. We don't even know the gentleman's name yet, and his identity information needs to be completed."

Jessica first opened the ward door and looked inside. Because the medical staff didn't know who he was, it was a regular ward. Fortunately, it was a single room, very quiet and clean. Gabriel was still asleep due to the anesthesia.

"I'll go with you to complete the procedures now," Jessica said, gently closing the door behind her.

The nurse reminded, "But miss, your foot is injured."

Jessica replied, "It's okay, it's a minor injury. I can walk slowly."

Despite saying this, the nurse still helped her with the procedures. After completing Gabriel's hospitalization information, the nurse quietly asked, "Although celebrities are common in Stellaria City, are you a domestic actress?"

Jessica nodded, showing rare patience towards the kind nurse.

After helping Jessica back to the inpatient department, the nurse quietly said, "Your boyfriend was only injured by the impact and lost a lot of blood, but the injury isn't serious. Once he wakes up and recovers, there shouldn't be any major issues. But we heard about the situation at the hotel. Your boyfriend protected you at that time. Having someone who loves you so much is really fortunate!"

Although people in Stellaria City could recognize her, they clearly didn't know much about her gossip, not even that she was "married".

Jessica's lips moved, and she said, "He's not my boyfriend."

But thinking about it, she felt there was no need to explain.

The nurse was obviously puzzled by her words but didn't ask further, only saying, "When your boyfriend is discharged, if it's convenient for you, could you give me an autographed photo?"

Jessica neither nodded nor shook her head. This matter would have to wait until Lynn and the others arrived at the hospital. She didn't even have her ID or phone with her now.

After being helped into the ward, she thanked the nurse and closed the door.

The hospital had a strong smell of disinfectant from the hallway to the ward. Jessica walked to the bedside, took a chair, and sat down. Looking at the still-sleeping Gabriel and his pale, bloodless face, she felt for a moment as if time had returned to more than two years ago when Gabriel was lying injured in her home, and she was looking at the pale, unconscious Gabriel in a daze.

After watching for a while and confirming that Gabriel was indeed asleep, Jessica got up and poured some water. She opened the drawer by the bed, took out a disposable disinfectant swab, dipped it in water, and gently wiped his pale, slightly chapped lips.

She wiped carefully, and because of her bent-over position, she noticed a bit of blood still on his neck.

Although the emergency room medical staff had cleaned his injury, most of their attention was on the wound area. Other places might have been wiped but not thoroughly.

Jessica opened a bag of disposable towels from the drawer, fetched a basin of water, and wiped his face and neck. After wiping, she looked at his collar, hesitated, and decided not to unbutton it. Instead, she wiped his hands.

As she wiped his hands, she hesitated whether to wipe his body as well.
