Chapter 405 Poker Face

The flower tea in her hand suddenly lost its kick.

John was already halfway into the car. Pulling back now would just look weird and awkward. So, after standing there like a statue for a few seconds, he quickly put on a more casual face, yanked his foot back, and didn't get in. He turned to the driver and said, "Looks like Ms. Jessica hasn't changed her makeup yet. I'll skip the ride. Can you give her this flower tea for me?"

Then he turned back again. "It's freezing out here, and I feel bad for making Ms. Jessica stand in the cold water for so long."

"It's cool, we're all just trying to nail the scene. Mr. John, you got any more scenes today?"

"Nah, I'm done for the day. What about you, Ms. Jessica?"

"I've got one more scene. Once that's wrapped, I'm outta here. See you tomorrow, let's crush it." Jessica said, making a fist to cheer him up, mostly to ease the awkward vibe. She wanted to keep things chill on set.

John actually had a thing for Jessica. She was real, down-to-earth, and cute, but also more grounded and mature than the newbies. Too bad she was already hitched and had some ties with Mr. Harriman, so he knew he didn't stand a chance.

John didn't dare to peek into the car too much, 'cause the guy next to Jessica had this intense vibe, even without saying a word.

"Good luck, I'm out." John said and quickly bounced.

The driver was about to light up a smoke, but before he could, he took the flower tea. After handing it over, he noticed the guy next to Jessica but didn't recognize him. He nodded politely and dipped out.

Jessica touched the glass pot of flower tea; it was still hot.

She turned around and grabbed two small cups from the RV's cabinet. She poured herself a cup to let it cool, then paused while pouring the second one. She looked up at Gabriel, who had that strong presence, "Want a cup too?"

She sniffed the tea and joked, "There's ginger in it, perfect for those chronic cold legs."

Gabriel wasn't into the tea, but she should definitely drink more of it. He grabbed the hairdryer she had just put down, "You drink it, sit down and don't move."

Before she could react, Jessica was pushed back onto the sofa, and the hot air started blowing on her head. She quickly tried to get up, "I can dry it myself."

"Stay put." Gabriel's hand rested lightly on her shoulder, yet it was enough to keep her from getting up. His cold voice came from above her, "The car door's open, and it's freezing. Dry it first."

Jessica still wanted to get up, struggling a bit, and turned her head to face the hairdryer, "I got it, let me do it myself!"

But her shoulder was turned, and she was easily pushed back onto the sofa again.

Jessica sat there, stuck. She tilted her head, and suddenly didn't know where to look.

Gabriel's long, strong fingers ran through her half-wet, half-soft hair. Because of all the filming, Jessica had never dyed her hair. It was all natural and reached down to her waist.

Honestly, she found such long hair a hassle and had thought about chopping it to shoulder length a bunch of times. But the heavy wigs on set had scarred her, so she stuck with her long hair. It was easier for styling during shoots, no need for those heavy wigs.

Even though Jessica's hair was long, it was soft and fine, drying pretty quickly. Once the hairdryer stopped, she quickly moved away from Gabriel, went to the front, and took a sip of the flower tea.

"This stuff is really good. As soon as I swallowed, I felt warmth from my throat to my stomach." Jessica took another sip, swallowed, and pointed to the other cup of flower tea she had just poured, "Mr. Harriman, you sure you don't want a cup?"

Gabriel glanced at the cup in her hand, and after a few seconds of silence, said, "Since you're so sincere, I guess a sip wouldn't hurt."

Seeing him eyeing the cup she had just drunk from, Jessica quickly hugged the cup and moved aside.

"Drink your own if you want!" She hugged the cup and moved far away, continuing to drink in small sips, occasionally blowing into the cup, and sighed comfortably after a few sips.

Warm! Cozy!

After drinking half a cup, Jessica suddenly turned her head to look at Gabriel.

Then she turned back, facing away from him, drinking her tea while raising her eyebrows in confusion.

Why was he staring at her?

What was so interesting about her loose hair?

Was there something on her face?

Jessica even sneaked a glance at the mirror in front of her, not seeing anything on her face.

A few days ago, when she went with him to the hospital for a follow-up, it seemed the same.

So what was up with Gabriel these days?

Was his poker face acting up in the winter?

The last scene of the day wrapped up around six o'clock. It was early winter in Xyleria, and the days were getting shorter. The sky had already darkened quite a bit.

Jessica removed her makeup and changed her clothes before leaving the RV. Since she was picked up by the studio's car today, she didn't drive herself. Lynn had to meet a new ad sponsor last minute and had already driven off.

Zoey had called the studio to send a car, but even after Jessica had removed her makeup and got off the RV, the studio's car hadn't shown up yet.

"Can it still make it?"

"Will it take that long?"

"It's rush hour in the city now. If we send another car, who knows when it'll get here."

Zoey was on the phone with the studio. After a few words, she put down the phone, "The car broke down halfway and just called a tow truck. It can't be fixed for a while and won't make it. If we send another car now, the roads in the city are all jammed. It won't get here quickly. How about we hitch a ride with someone from the crew to the city and then grab a cab home?"

Jessica had no objections. The studio's car usually arrived on time, but this was an unexpected situation combined with traffic, which was indeed beyond control.

Zoey glanced around. Jessica was the last actor to finish filming today. The other actors had already left in their cars after their scenes.

Now, only some staff and a few extras were left. Although they had cars, they weren't particularly familiar.
