Chapter 387 What on earth has gotten into Mr. Harriman?

As soon as she walked in, Jessica bluntly asked, "When did you re-add me on WhatsApp?"

Gabriel remained calm, "Are you obsessed with blocking and deleting people?"

Jessica replied, "I don't have an obsession, but isn't it proper to have a clean break after a breakup?"

Gabriel said, "You now have a responsibility to take care of me. Restoring contact is part of that responsibility."

Jessica rolled her eyes at him and helped him to the shower.

Twenty minutes later, she came out of the bathroom and was about to leave. After all, she was just there to help him shower. Other matters were not her business.

Just as she was about to reach the door, Gabriel came out in a bathrobe, "How did you get here? Did you drive?"

"I didn't drive. I'll get a cab downstairs," Jessica said, looking down to change her shoes.

Gabriel's tone was flat but firm, "It's too late to leave now. Call Wayne here to send you home."

"No need. It's easy to get a cab near Blue Bay Apartments. I can just hail one from the street."

As Jessica pushed the door open, Gabriel had already walked up behind her. Her phone buzzed, and she glanced at it while opening the door.

Kevin: [My night shoot got canceled tonight. Are you done with your livestream? If you're free, want to catch a movie?]

Kevin sent another message: [Let's watch the one you're starring in. To show my sincere support for our on-screen couple, I can book the whole theater.]

Jessica looked at the WhatsApp message and suddenly realized Gabriel was standing right next to her. She turned to see him standing tall beside her, his gaze coldly fixed on her hand, clearly having seen Kevin's message.

She quickly turned off her phone screen. "I'm leaving now."

After leaving Blue Bay Apartments, Jessica adjusted the brim of her hat and walked to the roadside to hail a cab. Once in the cab, she replied to Kevin: [No need to book the whole theater. Thanks for your invitation. If you really want to watch it, I can take you another day.]

Kevin suddenly sent a screenshot of a booked movie ticket. "I had some free time on set earlier, so I already booked the tickets. The whole theater is booked for tomorrow's show. There wasn't an available slot for tonight. How about we watch tonight's show at 10 PM? No one would guess they'd be watching a movie with the lead actress herself."

Colleague relationships should maintain a distance.

Jessica always kept this principle in mind.

But since he had already booked the theater, it would seem too cold-hearted to be absent.

Even though she actually wanted to go home and cuddle with Danielle.

She glanced at the location of the theater in the screenshot, replied with an OK emoji without overthinking, and then hailed a cab to head there.

Wayne was working late at the office tonight and had dinner with some executives from a partner company nearby. Luckily, he hadn't drunk any alcohol. When Gabriel called him, he thought it was to take Jessica home, but upon arriving at Blue Bay Apartments, he found out Jessica had already left.

Gabriel stood by the window, looking at the starry night and neon lights outside, and suddenly said, "How long has it been since you watched a movie at last time?"

Wayne thought he misheard, looking shocked, "Huh?"

Gabriel turned around, "I'm inviting you to a movie."

Wayne's legs trembled with fear, "What movie?"

What kind of movie would make Mr. Harriman want to go out in the middle of the night despite his injuries?

And even invite him to watch?

What on earth had gotten into Mr. Harriman?

Gabriel glanced at Wayne's shocked and terrified expression, thought for a momentand recalled the name of the movie Jessica was starring in.

When Jessica arrived at the theater, Kevin was already there. Mimicking the young couples around, he had bought a bucket of popcorn, some snacks and soda, standing in a less crowded corner with a mask and sunglasses.

Most people watching a late-night movie wouldn't even wear a hat, let alone sunglasses at night.

But Jessica and Kevin were special. When they met, they couldn't help but laugh at each other for being so heavily disguised.

As they got their tickets and queued to enter, Jessica whispered, "Isn't this too risky?"

"No, if we're not photographed, it's just hanging out. Even if we are, it would just be a celebration for Character Pairing fans. We have a joint endorsement next month, so it wouldn't hurt to strengthen our bond. What's more, we're watching your movie. If any haters accuse you of having an affair, I can easily explain it as supporting your film."

Jessica laughed, "That sounds a bit far-fetched."

"It is, but I'm glad you came."

"You booked the whole theater. If I didn't show up, how could I face you as a colleague?"

Kevin's mouth twitched under his mask, "You really never miss a chance to distance yourself. Being close friends is better than just colleagues."

Jessica laughed and took a piece of popcorn but kept her mask on due to the surrounding lights.

"After all, I owe you a favor," Jessica said as she walked to her seat.

As soon as she sat down, Kevin handed her the bucket of popcorn, "Enjoy, my dear colleague."

Jessica chuckled. The theater lights dimmed and the movie began.

For the best viewing experience and to avoid drawing attention, they sat in the third-to-last row.

On the big screen was a close-up of Jessica's face, the deafening sound effects pounding in sync with the heartbeat.

As the lead actress, Jessica was happily munching on popcorn.

It was her first time watching her own movie in a theater. Within the first five minutes, the audience was holding their breath in suspense. So did Kevin, engrossed in the plot.

Despite the occasional sound of Jessica munching on popcorn like a small animal.

One was watching intently, the other eating intently, neither noticed two more people entering the theater since the movie started, heading straight to the last row.

Invited by Mr. Harriman to watch a movie, Wayne was extremely nervous.

Especially since it was a movie starring Jessica.

He was even more nervous.

He couldn't understand why Mr. Harriman wanted to watch Jessica's movie.

Logically, if Mr. Harriman wanted to make a support, he could have booked multiple shows. Why spend a few dollars on a ticket to watch a movie?

Wayne dared not ask a single question. As he sat next to Gabriel, he quietly asked, "Mr. Harriman, are you sure you're good?"

Late at night, with Mr. Harriman still injured, Wayne felt that if anything happened, his own life might be at risk.

Gabriel said nothing, sitting in the middle of the last row, his gaze scanning the theater before finally settling on the two heads in the third-to-last row.
