Chapter 127 It's Mr. Harriman's Instructions
Just as the assistant director finished speaking, Jessica was casually testing the feel of the whip in her hand and seemingly accidentally flicked it toward Deborah's feet.
The whip passed within an inch of Deborah's feet, causing her face to turn pale with fright.
The sharp wind of the whip fluttered the pink costume skirt, and Deborah took a step back with an unpleasant expression. It wasn't exactly a loss of composure, but she definitely lost the cheerful demeanor she had moments ago.
With a countenance of worry, Deborah gazed toward Jessica and spoke, "Is this thing really reliable?"
Jessica raised an eyebrow and suddenly smiled brightly. "Not necessarily."
Deborah looked even more worried. "The assistant director, she even said that it's not..."
The assistant director, with an uncompromising attitude, interrupted, "The props team has already arranged everything. The plot can't be changed. There's a certain risk in the hanging scenes, and in shooting such a large-scale fantasy drama, who wouldn't have a bit of injury? All we can say is that everyone will try their best to protect the actors' safety. And didn't Jessica handle the whip quite well? Stop wasting time. Quickly communicate with the props team to see how we're going to tie you up later."
Jessica walked around playing with the whip, and Deborah didn't bother her anymore, keeping a distance of about three to four feet behind Jessica without getting closer.
Jessica finally had some peace by her ear.
The drama was rife with scenes of the heroine being tormented by the secondary female lead. Despite her saintly, gentle nature, the heroine endured the abuse passively, essentially awaiting the hero's rescue. Even when the Immortal Sect finally vanquished the secondary female lead's Resentful Palace at the end, the heroine remained hands-off.
However, Jessica enjoyed playing with various props every day. Although it was hard work in hanging a wire harness , the effects presented on camera were always stunning, both stunning and stylish.
This newly acquired weapon felt just as handy for Jessica.
When she was in her teens, she had spent a year focusing on classical dance, mastering the control of the long sleeves that were over ten feet long on her dance costume, let alone a few feet of a whip.
However, whether or not she would accidentally strike Deborah a few times remained to be seen.
It all depended on her mood.
Jessica coiled up the whip, weighed it in her hand a couple of times, then turned to Deborah with a smile. "Deborah, I'm going to change my makeup, I'll be waiting for you on set."
Deborah was speechless.
The next day, Jessica had few scenes. She got up early, shot three scenes, and finished before noon.
As she had the day free, she took the opportunity to deal with Danielle's kindergarten issue. She had already informed the kindergarten in advance, and today, she drove over to pick up Danielle's things from the kindergarten. Then, she went back to her original home to collect some belongings before taking Danielle to Blue Bay Apartments.
Upon entering, Jessica also installed a fingerprint lock for herself. Although Gabriel said she could change the password anytime, she was quite used to the current one and didn't change it.
"Mommy, are we going to live here from now on?"
Danielle ran around the room, from the main bedroom to the guest room to the study's walk-in closet, back and forth for a long time. She found that her favorite teddy bear and the toy doll Uncle Spencer bought for her had also been brought over, making her extremely excited. She ended up rolling around on the carpet in front of the sofa in the living room.
Jessica made calls to several nearby kindergartens, discussing occasional late pick-up arrangements.
Suddenly, the doorbell rang.
She had just moved in less than two days ago, so why would someone be ringing her doorbell?
Jessica hesitated and walked to the door, peeking outside through the peephole before opening it.
Outside, Landon held a new small backpack and some learning supplies for little kids from the kindergarten. After Jessica opened the door, he respectfully and politely said, "Miss Jessica, Mr. Harriman had arranged for Danielle to be enrolled in the kindergarten. We have already coordinated with the kindergarten, and she could start tomorrow."
With that, he handed Jessica the backpack with the kindergarten logo. "This is the kindergarten's exclusive backpack. Please take it."
Jessica, still holding her phone, looked at Landon in surprise. "How did you know..."
Landon nodded respectfully. "It's what Mr. Harriman instructed."
"Cool and handsome uncle!" Danielle suddenly seemed to have exceptionally good hearing, squeezed out from behind the door, and looked at Landon with big, round eyes.
"Are you Uncle Spencer's friend? Where is he? The house we live in now is so big, with so many rooms. Can you let Uncle Spencer come and live with us?" Danielle rambled on.
Landon coughed lightly.
"Danielle!" Jessica quickly pushed the cheeky little girl back inside, laughing as she did so. "Kids say the darndest things!"
Landon remained calm and composed.
But he had seen Jessica and Danielle before, and knew Danielle was mischievous.Landon wasn't one to smile often, and he maintained a professional demeanor as he stood in front of Jessica and said, "The kindergarten is very close to here, just across the street from Blue Bay Apartments, making drop-offs and pick-ups very convenient. If Miss Jessica needs anything else, feel free to contact me at any time."
He took out a business card and handed it to her.
Jessica was initially shocked by the kindergarten logo on the backpack. It was the most expensive, prestigious private kindergarten in Xyleria, just across the street. She quickly took the business card Landon offered. "Thank you so much for your help."
Landon nodded politely. "I'll take my leave now. The company has other matters to attend to."
Jessica watched as Landon entered the elevator across the way, then looked down at the business card in her hand.
Danielle curiously took the backpack from Jessica's hand and examined it.
Jessica looked down at Danielle, then at the backpack, and then picked up her phone to check the prices of that kindergarten again.
The kindergarten demanded upfront annual fees. Enrollment, subject to a waiting list, could only be arranged after completing all procedures and paying tuition. Now, not only did she not have to wait in line, but Jessica could directly send Danielle tomorrow. This meant that even if she didn't plan on sending Danielle to such an expensive kindergarten now, those high fees wouldn't be refunded.
She hadn't taken any money or the card. Was Gabriel trying to repay her in a different way?
Just as she was about to call Gabriel, she realized she only had his WhatsApp. When he was at her house before, he only used her secondary card.
As Jessica walked into the living room with her phone, Mackenzie's call came in directly. As soon as she answered, before she could say anything, Mackenzie's voice overflowed with joy. "Jessica, what kind of powerful patron do you have behind you? I'm so surprised!"
Jessica was a bit puzzled. "What?"
Mackenzie laughed uncontrollably. "I have news! A huge surprise!"
