Amy, at nineteen, was still a kid who needed everyone's comfort and coaxing.
What was Jessica doing at nineteen?
She was breaking free from the Jenner family, experiencing a massive life upheaval, running towards a Bentley on a wild, terrifying night, and escaping from a blazing inferno.
She didn't understand love back then, but her life was turned upside down.
After dinner, Jessica sat in the tent, looking at the stars. Gabriel sprayed some mosquito repellent on her that he had brought back in the afternoon.
Gabriel had also brought back a foam cooler in the afternoon. Since it had been kept in a shady spot and remained sealed, the ice and ice packs inside hadn't melted much. As soon as the cooler was opened, a refreshing coolness filled the stuffy tent. The tent wasn't particularly large, so the cooler was enough to make the first half of the night more bearable, like a mini air-conditioned room. By the second half of the night, the outside temperature would drop, and it wouldn't be so stuffy.
Jessica had wanted to ask Gabriel where he got the mosquito repellent and the cooler of ice in the afternoon, but she hadn't found the chance. When she saw Gabriel taking his change of clothes to borrow the bathroom in Clayton's room, she had already washed up at Amy's place. Now, she was back in the tent, wearing a loose, comfortable white T-shirt, scrolling through Instagram and the news on her phone. Then she opened the live stream from the show and saw the camera was on Clayton and Cindy's room.
Cindy had gone to chat with Melissa and had asked Jessica in their Facebook group if she wanted to come in and enjoy the air conditioning. But Jessica was too tired and didn't want to move once she was in the tent, so she didn't go.
Now, Clayton's room was empty except for him. The camera caught Gabriel entering the bathroom with his change of clothes before switching to another room.
It was almost nine at night, and the live stream chat was still buzzing with enthusiastic fans discussing various topics.
After watching for a while, Jessica suddenly poked her head out and quietly asked Marshall, who was drinking coffee in the work tent opposite, "Hey, where did Gabriel get those things? Did you guys catch it on camera?"
Marshall blew on his cup, raised an eyebrow at Jessica through the steam, and pointed at her phone. "Check the live stream replay from around three or four in the afternoon. You were sleeping then, and the crew followed Mr. Harriman out."
Jessica then noticed there were highlight clips below the live stream. She quickly found the time Marshall mentioned and opened it. There were quite a few comments on the replay. She fast-forwarded a bit and saw Gabriel leaving the tent while she was asleep.
In the afternoon, even though the tent was set up in a shady spot in the yard, it was still stuffy without air conditioning or even a fan. Jessica had fallen asleep but was uncomfortable, sweating and restless. Gabriel had wiped the sweat from her hairline and borrowed a fan from the staff to cool her, but it didn't help much. After a while, he got up and left.
Gabriel went to the kitchen of the guesthouse, seemingly looking for something, but came up empty-handed. He then left the guesthouse without hesitation.
