Chapter 240 Mr. Harriman Installed a Tracker on Your Phone and Sent Me...
If Jessica didn't know what Eugene was planning at first, she certainly figured it out by the next day.
Not until the following noon, she was released from the attic, still without having eaten anything the previous night. Without insisting letting she eat, Eugene had the two bodyguards throw her into the car.
Yes, she was thrown.
Because she hadn't eaten or drunk anything for two days at the Jenner family, she had no strength to resist.
But after being taken to a private room in a hotel in Xyleria, she had a pretty good idea of what her biological father was planning.
Her refusal to eat or drink at the Jenner family wasn't out of stubbornness or self-abuse; Rather, this family had no bottom line. Given past experiences, she couldn't be sure if the food and drink were safe, so she couldn't risk it.
Now, sitting in the private room, she saw the door open, and a pot-bellied, bald man in his fifties with an oily face walked in. His eyes immediately fell on her with a greedy look that made her feel nauseous, even though her stomach was empty.
No wonder Linda and Trinity didn't resist much when she was suddenly taken back to the Jenner family; they had clearly discussed it in private.
But Linda was somewhat wary of her. After seeing her at the dinner table the previous night, she had avoided her the rest of the time.
Now, Jessica sat in the room with only the two bodyguards and the hypocritical Eugene.
As the man walked in, Eugene quickly stood up to greet him, shaking hands and inviting him to sit down.
After a few exchanges, Jessica realized that this pot-bellied, bald man was a vice president of a financial association from the capital. He wielded significant funds and power. His wife had been seriously ill for years and was bedridden in the hospital. He had many mistresses outside and clearly had a fetish for young girls. Ever since he walked in, his eyes had hardly left Jessica.
Even though Jessica hadn't changed clothes or showered, and had only wiped her face and hands, her disheveled appearance seemed to make her look even more pitiable and suitable for abuse in his eyes.
"Mr. Evans, I have always kept your proposal in mind. As I mentioned before, besides Trinity, I have another daughter. It seems you are quite taken with our Jessica," Eugene said as he poured Joe Evans a glass of wine. "Both are my daughters, and I am very sincere about this, Mr. Evans."
Joe smiled and picked up the glass. "I had never heard that the Jenner family had two daughters. Ms. Trinity Jenner is already a stunning beauty, and I hadn't expected your other daughter to be so beautiful as well."
Before leaving, Eugene had warned Jessica with her mother's room and box of relics. If she didn't cooperate or resisted on the spot, he would throw her mother's relics into the sea, making it impossible for her to retrieve them.
She thought what she was supposed to cooperate in some way.
Eugene truly used his daughter to the fullest. When he didn't need her, he discarded her; when he did, he found a way to bring her back, just to replace Trinity, who had caught Joe's eye, and sold her instead.
To prove she was indeed his daughter, Eugene even had the servants find the few childhood photos of her.
He was now showing these childhood photos to the vice president, who looked very pleased, nodding repeatedly. He even saw a few photos of Jessica and Trinity together from their childhood. Although there were only a few, and they had been buried at the bottom of a box, it was quite good that they hadn't been destroyed. Now, Eugene was showing them off like treasures.
Jessica had often wondered over the years if there was a possibility that she wasn't Eugene's daughter. Or perhaps, if she hadn't been treated this way by her biological father, if he wasn't her father, would the hatred in her heart lessen?
But blood ties were something she couldn't escape.
How could she be the daughter of such a beast? How could her mother have died so tragically for this beast?
Jessica held a glass of water, but hadn't drunk any since entering the room.
She was very thirsty but didn't dare to drink.
Suddenly, she changed her expression, which had been emotionless since entering the room, to a mysterious smile. She stood up and walked to the middle of Eugene and Joe, pouring wine for Joe.
"My dad didn't tell me beforehand who I was meeting today, so I was a bit confused earlier," she said sweetly, "You won't blame me for being a bitignorant, right?"
When Jessica smiled, her eyes were filled with a sweetness that men couldn't resist. Especially today, with her pale and haggard face, she looked even more pitiable and obedient, which instantly captivated Joe.
"Not at all. Ms. Jenner is still young. Being too sensible would seem forced. This is just right," Joe said with a smile, raising his hand to touch the back of her hand as she poured the wine.
Eugene hadn't yet figured out what Jessica's sudden change in behavior meant when she accidentally spilled the entire glass of wine on him. Eugene immediately stood up, the wine dripping down his suit.
He glared at Jessica with a dark expression. "What are you doing? "
"Ms. Jenner just made it bymistake, Mr. Jenner. It's so cold, if the wine soaks through your clothes, you might catch a chill. You should go take care of it," Joe said, clearly wanting to take advantage of Eugene's absence to further engage with Jessica.
The old pervert's eager demeanor showed that he undoubtedly had a sexual fetish.
What kind of pervert was Eugene trying to sell her to?
"It's fine. I'll deal with it later," Eugene said, not wanting to leave, fearing Jessica might do something.
"Go ahead," Joe insisted, giving him a look to hurry him out.
Reluctantly, Eugene had to leave, giving Jessica a warning look before he exited the room, signaling her to keep quiet.
Jessica just smiled indifferently, looking obedient but with a cold glint in her eyes.
As the door opened and closed again, Jessica saw the two bodyguards standing outside like sentinels, not moving an inch.
As soon as the door closed, Joe grabbed her hand, about to speak. Jessica's smile vanished, and she pulled her hand away, stepping aside to put some distance between them, her eyes filled with undisguised disgust. "Mr. Evans, there's a multi-billion dollar financial hole within Sunroy Group. Don't fall blindly into the trap he's setting for you by selling you a daughter. You might end up losing not just your money but also your reputation and everything you own."
Joe's eyes paused, looking at the seemingly delicate and simple Jessica with surprise. His gaze lingered on her greedily for a moment, but the implication of her words was too clear. Besides his lust, Joe had a business mind and couldn't be careless. He asked thoughtfully, "How can you prove what you're saying is true?"
"How could I dare to stand up without evidence?" Jessica said calmly, looking at the pot-bellied, bald Joe. "Why do you think he didn't want to leave and insisted on stayinghere to watch me?"
If Eugene knew that she held many pieces of evidence against the Jenner family in her hands, he wouldn't have left even with wet clothes.
But the issue lay in the mutual distrust between Linda and Eugene after years of marriage. Linda hadn't shared anything about her with him, so Eugene was completely unaware and unguarded against Jessica.
Joe, now looking shrewd, smiled and took a sip of the wine she had poured, then said, "No rush, come sit down and talk slowly."
His eyes clearly still wanted her to sit closer.
"Mr. Evans, I think you should prioritize the importance of the matter," Jessica began to speak, but was interrupted by a commotion outside.
Before she could finish her sentence, there was a sudden loud bang on the private room door.
Jessica turned to see the door being kicked open. Cynthia, in casual clothes, stood at the entrance, kicking down a bodyguard who was trying to get up.
"Who are you?" Joe jumped up in fright.
Jessica stared at Cynthia in surprise.
How did Cynthia know she was here?
Cynthia walked in expressionlessly, not even glancing at Joe. She looked Jessica over, seeing her disheveled and haggard but seemingly unharmed, and said nonchalantly, "If you still get taken advantage of by the Jenner family, we're done. I can't afford to lose face like that."
Jessica was silent.
Was this the attitude of rushing over to rescue someone?
She glanced outside but saw no one else. Hotel staff had arrived but were hesitant to intervene after seeing Cynthia's ID. The two bodyguards lay on the ground, clutching their stomachs in pain.
"I didn't suffer any loss, just a bit hungry," Jessica said, glancing at the food and drinks on the table.
It was clear that the Jenner family was too wicked, so she had to be constantly on guard against eating anything unsafe.
Cynthia walked over, ignoring the furious Joe who seemed ready to call for help. She leaned close to Jessica and whispered, "Why were you suddenly taken back at the Jenner family? If Gabriel hadn't installed a tracker on your phone and noticed something suspicious, sending me to follow your GPS, no one would have known you were taken by the Jenner family."
A tracker?
Because of the incident at Sunshine Bay City, Had Gabriel installed a tracker on her phone?
Jessica suddenly looked at the bodyguard on the ground.
She quickly walked over andsquatted down, retrieving her phone from his pocket. As he tried to resist, she stepped on his arm, taking advantage of his injury, and turned on her phone.
Eugene, hearing the commotion, rushed out of the nearby restroom. Seeing the scene, he hurried over, his face changing drastically when he saw the bodyguards on the ground and Jessica standing unharmed with Cynthia.
