Chapter 716 Sweet Extra - Couple Variety Show 201
Brent glanced over at Jessica again and said, "But Ms. Jenner doesn't seem like the cute girl type. Is she different when she's not around everyone?"
Clayton chuckled, "Man, you sure do talk a lot."
Just as Brent and Clayton were about to start playfully kicking each other again, Gabriel calmly led a horse over and handed the reins to Brent.
Brent took the reins, looking puzzled. "Mr. Harriman?"
Gabriel pointed with his chin at the black horse Brent had just fed. "Your horse is too skinny, its hooves are worn out, and it probably has an injury. Don't make it suffer by racing. Ride mine instead."
Brent was stunned.
He quickly realized what was going on and felt a wave of frustration. This afternoon's race was all about the horses, not the riders. Whoever's horse crossed the finish line first would win. Even if Brent rode Gabriel's horse and won first place, the victory would still belong to Gabriel. If Brent's own horse didn't finish, he'd come in last.
He thought Gabriel had finally given in to his pestering and was showing him some respect, but it turned out Gabriel had been waiting for this moment.
Brent looked at the small white pony that had been thrust upon him, his face darkening. "How fast can this thing run?"
Gabriel smiled slightly. "Whether it's fast or not, I want the first-place prize."
Brent was speechless.
Melissa stood nearby, covering her eyes, trying not to laugh but her mouth was twitching.
Clayton, having understood Gabriel's intention, burst into laughter first, followed by the other guests. Melissa couldn't hold it in any longer and turned away, squatting down and clutching her stomach as she laughed.
"Even if I try my best to run with it, Marshall requires everyone to participate. Taking your horse, Mr. Harriman, doesn't seem right." Brent pointed to the racetrack behind them. "The finish line is pretty far. You can't just walk there. Maybe you should ride..."
"I'll definitely walk with you to the finish line," Gabriel said with a gentle and kind smile, firmly placing the reins back in Brent's hand. "Good luck."
Brent looked at the cute pony in his hand, then at the small white pony beside him. The laughter from earlier had turned into a long silence.
Seeing Brent still not moving, Gabriel added softly, "Didn't you say you wanted to make me your leader?"
Clayton was laughing so hard his face was turning red.
Marshall, clearly not expecting this scene, kept urging the photographer to capture more close-up shots of Gabriel and Brent's expressions, showing no intention of helping Brent out of his predicament.
Brent accepted his fate, gritting his teeth. "Fine, I'll try my best! I'll give it my all!"
Gabriel nodded approvingly, patting Brent's shoulder as if entrusting him with a great responsibility. "Remember, I want the first-place prize."
Brent looked at the small pony beside him, then at the majestic horses next to the other guests, and slowly responded.
If he weren't a man, he might have cried.
Jessica had been watching for a while. Seeing Brent ready to mount his horse, she led her own horse over and asked Gabriel, "How will you get there without riding?"
Gabriel gestured for Jessica to mount first. Confused, Jessica put on her gear and got on the horse. Just as she was about to ask him again, she suddenly felt a weight on her hand. Gabriel had swiftly mounted the horse, sitting behind her.
