Chapter 345 Isn't It Exciting

The next day at HBD Film Center in Xyleria.

Jessica had stayed up late with Danielle, folding paper. Danielle, who had napped earlier, was full of energy and wouldn't sleep until they finished.

By the time Jessica finally showered and got to bed, it was already past one in the morning.

She was up before six, and even with a light layer of makeup, it was clear she hadn't slept well for days.

A can of coffee suddenly appeared in front of her. Turning, she saw Kevin, who'd somehow found his way to the film center.

"Not sleeping well?" Kevin offered the coffee again.

Seeing he had another can in his other hand, Jessica took it without hesitation. "Yeah, lots going on. What are you doing here? Isn't your project wrapping up soon?"

"Yeah, almost done. After that, I'll be joining the cast of 'Shadow Kill.' Got a few shows to attend at HBD. My company isn't as free as your studio; some promo stuff is unavoidable."

Kevin casually opened his can, took a sip, and stood at the observation deck on the top floor, looking out at the bustling Xyleria through the glass. Sunlight streamed in, falling on their shoulders.

Feeling a bit drowsy, Jessica went up to the observation deck for some fresh air.

"But the shows you're doing are pretty popular and get good reviews," Jessica said, taking a sip of her coffee. It was cold, probably from the vending machine she saw earlier.

Kevin smirked. "I checked the 'Shadow Kill' schedule. The initial shooting will be hectic, running between sets every day, but it’ll ease up after a month. How about joining me on a variety show?"

Jessica had never done variety shows, and Kevin knew she avoided them. She rarely appeared in the media except for filming, but her shows were still popular, and the media and fans paid close attention to her.

She chuckled. "You've been on a lot of variety shows. What kind are you inviting me to? Let me guess, one of those awkward dating reality shows between celebs?"

Kevin raised an eyebrow, not denying it, which meant she was right.

Jessica laughed out loud. "Forget it. Everyone knows I'm married now. How could I go on a dating show? Even if it's scripted, it's not for me."

"I think you could use this chance to clarify that you only have a child and aren't actually married," Kevin said, leaning against the railing and looking at her. "Since the child's father has never appeared, and you have no marriage history, why keep up a persona that doesn't benefit you and affects your future relationships and career?"

Jessica sipped her coffee without responding.

Kevin watched her for a moment, then suddenly put down his coffee and leaned in close. "I'm glad to be your secret keeper. Since you won't give me a chance in real life, why not join me in a scripted romance on a reality show? Are you afraid to take it on?"

"Reverse psychology doesn't work on me. My persona is deeply ingrained now. Mention Jessica, and everyone knows I'm married," she said, turning her head away and giving him a look to back off.

Kevin straightened up and leaned against the railing, looking at her. "Fake is still fake. No one has ever photographed your nonexistent husband. At most, they've occasionally photographed your daughter, but her face is always blurred. Since no one has seen this nonexistent person, it wouldn't be hard to clarify and explain."

Jessica gently shook the half-full coffee can. "I'm fine with things as they are. At least at some necessary social events and dinners, my 'married' status keeps those investors from bothering me, reducing a lot of unnecessary trouble."

Knowing he couldn't persuade her, Kevin smiled. "I thought if you wouldn't give me a chance in real life, a scripted romance on a reality show would be a half-win."

"Stop joking. A guy who might have to go back and inherit billions if he can't act well is complaining to me?" Jessica rolled her eyes at him. "I want to ask you, is chasing a married woman thrilling?"

Kevin smiled honestly. "Yeah."

Jessica rolled her eyes again and headed to the seventh-floor meeting room at the film center..

She simply raised her hand to signal to Kevin that she was leaving and walked towards the elevator.

"I saw the info Sebastian sent about the 'Shadow Kill' production team. He even hired top domestic artists for post-production. This movie is aiming for awards," Mackenzie said, looking at her phone. "No wonder the actors' resumes piled up during the six-month prep period. If this movie succeeds and the box office is good, winning Best Actor and Actress next year won't be a problem."

Jessica was also looking at the info Sebastian sent. "Sebastian has produced award-winning films before. Didn't he win an award for a documentary two years ago? The lead actress was nominated, even though she didn't win. It shows his work has that potential."

"That's why he's so focused on 'Shadow Kill' this year. He specifically invited you to play the lead role. I think he wants you to win an award and get the Best Actress title."

"It's not that easy. There are many talented stars and great works in this industry. Breaking through is very difficult," Jessica said, putting down her phone. "Besides, the movie hasn't even started filming. Everything is still uncertain. We don't know how things will turn out."

"Does your uncertain future include a bright career? I see you're eager to move behind the scenes," Mackenzie scoffed.
