Chapter 260 Not Cinderella
Since she was already here, Jessica shouldn't disrespect the sponsor.
But those high-end jewelry pieces were really unnecessary for Jessica.
“Forget about Van Cleef & Arpels, I don't need VCA-level jewelry,” Jessica said as she walked in another direction. “Recently, several investors have shown interest in collaborating with our studio. Besides, I'm just an emerging actress in the industry. Wearing such high-end jewelry would be inappropriate and too eye-catching. For events, I should focus more on sponsored items or endorsements.”
“With the current popularity of "Charles II," you'll be attending numerous award ceremonies next year. You'll definitely need some jewelry.” Nicholas acknowledged Jessica's point but was eager for her to spend money, so he coaxed her a bit.
Jessica pretended not to hear him and glanced at some skincare and makeup counters in the distance. “I'll buy some skincare products and lipsticks.”
Those things were worthless.
Nicholas walked over and saw her trying out some lotions and creams at the counter. After hearing the clerk say the price, he glanced at the brand and immediately frowned in disdain. He then saw La Prairie across the way and decisively dragged her over.
Jessica was speechless.
She wanted to say that the creams and lotions she usually used, which cost a few hundred dollars a bottle, were actually quite good.
But seeing how Nicholas was in a bad mood, she had no choice but to lower her head and choose.
Initially, she only bought a few eye creams, but Nicholas insisted that the clerk pack up a full set of various expensive skincare products. He then dragged a visibly speechless Jessica to another high-end counter nearby to continue shopping.
She didn't buy any jewelry, but just a few sets of skincare products already cost tens of thousands of dollars in no time.
Jessica, feeling overwhelmed, announced a break and turned to the makeup section, wanting to pick out two lipsticks that suited her. Nicholas took it a step further and, while she was testing the shades, instructed the clerk to pack up all the available shades.
Jessica was dumbfounded.
Jessica said, “Mr. Harriman, does your grandpa know about your nouveau riche behavior?”
Nicholas chuckled coldly. If it weren't for Gabriel saying the more, the better, with no spending limit, and to buy whatever she wanted or suited her, did she think he wanted to carry all these shopping bags?
In the next few minutes.
“Do you need perfume?”
“This brand is niche; a lot of girls seem to like it. Don't want any?”
“I really don't know much about what young girls like these days. But from what I've heard, they often have a lot of customized outfits from various brands, especially young actresses in the entertainment industry. They need at least a dozen looks for airport photos, afternoon tea looks, and various evening looks. Should we consider buying more? There's a couture shop at the mall entrance. Want to check it out? As a popular actress, shouldn't you put more effort into your appearance every time you're in front of the camera?”
Jessica pretended not to hear.
Suddenly, Nicholas stopped walking and gave her a look.
She turned her head to look.
HERMES.
This was the largest department store in Xyleria, fully stocked with all international luxury brands and a wide variety of bags. If someone from the Harriman family wanted to order a Hermès Himalayan Birkin, they probably wouldn't even need to go through the qualification review or wait in line.
Seeing that this young master was eager to drag her in and buy dozens of bags for her, Jessica firmly refused.
“Thank you, but there's no need.”
However, Jessica didn't expect that, in order to finish shopping and eat sooner, Nicholas had secretly messaged the mall manager to buy a set of jewelry from the jewelry store he had his eye on for Jessica. He also asked the manager to buy several bags from Hermès and other high-end stores on that floor, all of which were already packed and ready for them to pick up.
Unaware of this, Jessica bought a jacket and was ready to call it a day. When she returned to the first-floor service desk to ask about discount points, she saw the already packed jewelry and bags.
And the hundreds of lipsticks and skincare products Nicholas had left there earlier.
“Ms. Jenner, Mr. Harriman's black card belongs to the Harriman Group, and it enjoys all the highest privileges in our mall. There's no need for points; all the complimentary gifts have already been packed for you,” the service desk staff said with a polite smile, “All these items are yours, and they've all been packed.”
Jessica was once again dumbfounded.
She turned to Nicholas. Nicholas first admired the beautifully designed floor lamps in the mall, then glanced at the passing crowd in the distance. At the same time, he raised his hand to his stomach and said, “Ugh, I'm really hungry.”
This evasive attitude clearly meant she had no choice but to accept.
Having bought so much, Nicholas didn't have to carry the bags himself. He simply instructed the staff to deliver everything to Blue Bay Apartments.
Jessica didn't consider herself a Cinderella. Even though she had to support Danielle, she could still be self-sufficient. These items were something she could afford after working hard for a few more years.
Since it was Gabriel's idea, even though she hadn't delved into the business world or thoroughly explored the Harriman Group, she knew that for them, earning this amount of money would take less than a second. Gabriel's status, his identity, his past, and everything he owned were far beyond what she knew.
Jessica felt her pocket. She hadn't brought anything else, but she had her phone.
Although her gratitude couldn't compare to these items, she still took out her phone to search for nearby restaurants. “What do you want to eat? I'll treat you.”
Nicholas laughed. “Are you treating me? If Gabriel finds out, he'll probably kill me. I've already been kicked out of the house by Michael with nowhere to go. Gabriel is my only brother, and he's cold and ruthless. Do you want to make things worse for me?”
Jessica twitched her mouth and put away her phone. She was about to say something when a woman's displeased voice came from about five meters away. “What's the deal with that bag? Didn't the store clerk say it was temporarily unavailable? How come there's a Hermès Himalayan Birkin right there? Do they think I'm blind?”
Jessica found the voice oddly familiar. She turned to a young woman walking towards the service desk.
The woman gave Jessica a disdainful glance. Seeing Jessica wearing a hat and mask, she guessed she was an actress and didn't think much of it. She was about to look away when she suddenly paused and refocused her gaze on Jessica.
“It's you.”
Facing Jessica, the woman's two words were filled with obvious surprise and disdain, causing Nicholas to turn his head and look coldly.
