Chapter 644 Sweet Extra of Couple Variety Show 129
Jessica had definitely thought about this.
Lester and Rachel's standing in their social circle was shaky at best. They were always teetering on the edge of falling from their semi-celebrity status back into obscurity, and they desperately needed a big break.
Especially Lester, who was less seasoned than Rachel. If Rachel or her company could offer him some perks, then pushing his already rocky relationship with his girlfriend into the limelight could benefit both of them. For Lester, this was the real opportunity he was after.
But this was really scraping the bottom of the barrel.
However, in this world, hitting rock bottom was pretty common. This time, Jessica was seeing it up close, and it involved Gabriel, which was definitely a shock.
Jessica didn't bother to check if Rachel had really fainted from drowning or how she was revived. Gabriel had pulled her out of the crowd while the staff were busy rescuing Rachel. He led Jessica to a folding chair by the volleyball court.
"In this heat, are you sure you're okay?" Gabriel brushed Jessica's forehead. Despite wearing sunscreen, the intense sun on the island had made her face look redder than usual, mostly from the heat.
"It's fine. When we're filming, even when it feels like it's over 100 degrees out, we still have to wear layers of period costumes and fly around on wires. I'm used to this kind of heat. I also try to eat light meals at lunch, so I haven't felt nauseous again. I only felt a bit sick in the morning; I'm really fine now," Jessica whispered.
Gabriel gently rubbed her sweaty hair. "So, you want to leave the industry. That's a smart move."
Jessica's decision to leave wasn't to escape the hardships but because she never liked being constantly in the public eye.
If it weren't for the complicated relationship with Trinity back then, she wouldn't have chosen the path of a celebrity.
Now that she had an exit, she naturally chose to work behind the scenes.
But she understood Gabriel's concern for her. She smiled and rubbed her face against his palm. "Of course, I'm the smartest. How else would I become Mrs. Harriman?"
"Is that so? I think your smartest choice was..." Gabriel pressed her head and leaned closer.
Before he could finish his sentence or continue his action, Amy suddenly ran over. She tried to stop but couldn't in time, ending up right next to Jessica and Gabriel.
Gabriel paused, slowly turned his head, and looked expressionlessly at the embarrassed Amy.
After a couple of seconds, Amy's survival instinct kicked in. "Gabriel, Jessica, Rachel woke up. I saw she wasn't really unconscious, so I came to tell you."
Gabriel straightened up, glanced at Amy, then looked towards the crowd where Rachel was being carried by the staff, seemingly to be taken back to the villa to rest.
Turning his gaze back to Amy, Gabriel asked, "Is Kevin no longer able to keep you around?"
Amy was surprised to hear Gabriel mention Kevin. After a moment, she replied, "He noticed too. We all saw it. Rachel was pretending. I don't know what Lester is doing following her madness; they both seem out of their minds."
