Chapter 207 Mr. Harriman Takes the Initiative

Chapter 207 Mr. Harriman Takes the Initiative

After a round of golf, Jessica felt quite satisfied.

She realized that playing well was truly exhilarating; anything less was just self-torture.

She returned the club to the staff and went to wash her hands. As sheglanced over to the rest area, she saw Gabriel was surrounded by several leaders, deeply engaged in conversation. She quickly averted her gaze and went back to Virgil.

Partly due to Gabriel's earlier intervention, no one dared to approach Jessica for a chat while she played golf. It was as if an invisible barrier had formed around her, allowing her to play undisturbed until she naturally decided to leave the field.

"How was it? I saw you were really getting into it later," Virgil teased mercilessly as she walked back.

"Not bad. At least it wasn't a waste of time; I actually learned how to play it."

Virgil looked at her as if nothing special had happened, leaned in, and whispered in her ear, "Do you know Mr. Harriman?"

Jessica remained expressionless and replied, "What do you think?"

"It doesn't seem like it."

Just as Jessica was about to nod in agreement, Virgil scrutinized her again and said, "But then again, there's something different about you two."

Jessica, with a calm and evasive look, said, "It's all the same teaching golf. Isn't Mr. Robinson also teaching someone over there?"

"Those two are practically all over each other, more focused on the game. They’ve been at it half the day and haven’t learned much You and Mr. Harriman are different," Virgil said, looking at Jessica knowingly.

Jessica was confused.

What was different?

Gabriel even pinched her waist! That's even more excessive!

How was it different?

Virgil whispered, "Others are flirting, making eyes at each other. Mr. Harriman doesn't need to flirt; it's like he just shows up automatically."

Jessica was speechless.

Virgil continued to scrutinize Jessica's seemingly calm expression and said meaningfully, "But the issue is, that's Mr. Harriman. Mr. Harriman takes the initiative—don't you think that's strange?"

Jessica fell silent.

Although Virgil wasn't the executive producer of their project, people in his line of work had connections with various investors. Even if they couldn't reach some capital sources, they still had some information.

Who didn't know about someone like Gabriel, with his proud, aloof, and distant personality?

Not only did Virgil find something, but the seated leaders too—how many of them hadn’t noticed?

"Mr. Harriman, how about a few drinks tonight? Bring along the female student?" Percy suggested while sipping coffee.

Gabriel initially didn't respond. He picked up the cup of coffee Wayne had just refilled for him and took a few sips.

When Jessica spoke to him earlier, she still had a bit of a nasal tone, clearly indicating her cold hadn't fully recovered.

He put down the coffee cup and said calmly, "No need. Let's have the crew disperse later. Those who need rest should go rest. A place like this resort should be enjoyed in peace."Although the leaders from Xyleria suggested they go rest, the director and producer were still enthusiastic, and the actors couldn't leave on their own.

Many in the crew decided to stay at the resort for the unexpected two-day break and planned to have some fun.

Finally, when night fell, Jessica could leave. She went straight back to the Urban Oasis Hotel.

After playing golf for so long and then being called to have barbecue in the evening, even though she didn't eat much, Jessica could still smell the strong scent of barbecue smoke and a faint hint of sweat on herself.

Jessica didn't consider herself to be particularly refined or overly fastidious, but she couldn't stand the smell of sweat on herself, even if no one else could detect it.

Upon returning to the hotel, she went straight to the bathroom to take a shower as usual, without touching either the bed or the sofa.

Five minutes later.

Jessica, with wet hair and a face full of frustration, came out of the bathroom and called the hotel front desk.

"Hello, this is room 8805. The water heater in my room is broken again! Yes, again! And it was just fixed a few days ago! I was halfway through shampooing my hair and the water turned cold, and it hasn't warmed up after running for a long time! How am I supposed to shower?"

"We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. We will immediately send the housekeeping manager to fix it."

Of course, it was the same official response.

Jessica, clutching her cold, wet hair, angrily said, "The housekeeping manager again? Are your housekeeping managers professional repairmen? Last time, they came in and pressed a few buttons on the water heater, saying there was an issue with the internal tank causing occasional temperature instability, but it wouldn't affect normal use. I believed them. Yesterday, the water temperature was unstable, but at least I managed to finish my shower, so I let it go. But today, it's all cold water!"

Jessica continued to vent her frustration. "What's the temperature outside tonight? It's winter in Sunshine Bay City, below freezing outside, no heating inside, and I can't even take a hot shower. Cold water suddenly poured over my head! My cold hasn't even fully recovered. If it gets worse tomorrow, then what can I do?"

Jessica was really angry about it!

She still felt a chill on the back of her neck. The cold water had come down so suddenly that she couldn't even dodge it.

"Ms. Jenner, we are truly sorry. Not all rooms in our hotel have this issue. The situation of Room 8805 has never occurred before. The hot water in other rooms is working well. Unfortunately, we don't have any extra rooms available. How about..."

"How about I file a complaint?" Jessica's tone turned icy.

The receptionist quickly said, "Our housekeeping manager is already on the way to fix it again. Would that be alright? If the issue persists tomorrow, we will refund your room charge unconditionally."

Since the hotel and room were booked by the crew, whether or not the room charge was refunded wasn't directly Jessica's concern.

But the receptionist's attitude and apology were sincere, and Jessica didn't have the energy to press further. She said, displeased, "Can't you temporarily find me another room so I can at least take a proper shower?"

"We really don't have any extra rooms, except for the staff rest area on the first floor, but it's very messy and not just for one person. People come and go frequently, and it might not be safe for you to shower there."

Maybe the cold water had been too much; Jessica's head was starting to ache.

She hung up , stood there for a moment, and then picked up her phone to call Zoey, hoping to use the shower at Zoey's business hotel.

However, the hotel was a few hundred feet away. Driving there was unnecessary, and walking was not an option either, considering her hair was still wet, her shower was only half done, and it was several degrees below zero outside.

She didn't know many people in the crew well, and she wasn't sure who had returned to the hotel or who hadn't.

Donna and Kevin's rooms were on the eighth floor, but she couldn't borrow their shower.

Just as she was thinking, the doorbell suddenly rang. She quickly turned to open the door.
