"Jessica!"
Jessica had just walked in with her suitcase when she heard a scream. Suddenly, an unidentified object rushed towards her, causing her almost to drop her suitcase.
After a couple of seconds, she realized it was Amy running down from the second floor of the Airbnb. Jessica looked at Amy's outfit and smirked, "What on earth are you wearing?"
It was a big, black koala bear costume, the kind you see people wearing on the street to hand out flyers.
"The production team gave it to me. My task card must be different from yours. Before Kevin arrived, the team asked me to wear this and greet him at the door. If he recognized me, we would get a mysterious reward. If not, we both get punished," Amy said, leaning into Jessica.
Seeing her expression, Jessica didn't need to ask to know that Kevin hadn't recognized her.
Although Amy's pursuit of Kevin was a small, open secret in their circle, no one really talked about it. Especially since Amy had some family ties with the Harriman family, people in their circle didn't want to offend her, nor would they spread such trivial matters. Some fans even shipped them, though not many.
The production team knew about this and somehow managed to get Marshall to invite both Amy and Kevin, forcing them into a couple on the show. It was like those fake marriages or fake dating shows abroad, where two single people are paired up to learn about love. Fans knew it was a forced pairing, but given their looks and personalities, they thought it might be worth shipping. Maybe they'd develop real feelings over time.
Jessica hadn't been in touch with Kevin recently and hadn't run into him at work, so she had no idea what he was planning.
"So, what's the punishment?" Jessica pushed Amy's head away a bit.
Amy pouted, "Kevin and I have to make dinner for everyone tonight."
She pointed upstairs, "Not everyone has arrived yet. Only Clayton and Cindy are here. They've been married for seven or eight years and are still very much in love. Even though the rooms hadn't been assigned yet, they were already napping together on the couch upstairs. Kevin just arrived and got the task card, so he knows about the punishment and the game he failed. I didn't even get a chance to talk to him before I heard you were here and ran down."
Jessica knew that although there were no guest stars for the first episode, there were six fixed pairs of guests, including herself and Gabriel, for a total of twelve people. Amy, who probably couldn't even make oatmeal, was supposed to cook for everyone. It seemed like all six pairs would go hungry tonight.
It was said that Kevin was a good cook, so there was still some hope.
"Well, I'll look forward to dinner tonight then," Jessica said with a smile, picking up her suitcase to head upstairs.
Amy pouted and looked around, as if expecting Gabriel to be there too, but he was nowhere to be seen.
