Chapter 563 Sweet Extras of Couple Variety Show 48

It was everyone's first time working with rubber, and at first, they were more interested in goofing around. They spent about an hour checking out and comparing each tree before they gradually got into the groove.

Gabriel, not being a celebrity and having no intention of showing off on camera, had a much more straightforward goal than the other guests. As a business leader, his aim was to earn as much money as possible within the constraints set by the director.

Given the limited conditions, the presence of cameras, and the fact that all the other guests were entertainers with no commercial resources, the only option was to work diligently. Any other business tactics were out of the question here.

So, Gabriel chose not to waste any time. He immediately grabbed a rubber bucket and secured it under each tree. While the others were still examining the knife marks on the trees, he had already fixed the buckets for everyone.

Clayton was the first to notice and quickly went to help. "Sorry about that, Mr. Harriman. It's everyone's first time in a place like this, and we almost thought we were on a sightseeing tour. Good thing you remembered our main objective here."

Gabriel secured another bucket to a tree. "No worries. It's a variety show, not something serious. Everyone should just go with the flow."

Clayton laughed, pulling away the already solidified rubber while watching the white sap flow down the cuts. "So, Mr. Harriman, you're not just a leader at your company but also a hands-on worker?"

Gabriel's smile was subtle but warm. "Not really. I just often work overtime with my employees."

He then glanced over at Jessica. "So, I don't get to spend much time with Jessica either."

"We're the same," Clayton sighed. "It's only because of this couples' variety show that we get to work together. Otherwise, one of us is filming here while the other is attending events or shooting in another city. We barely see each other throughout the year. Many couples in our industry end up splitting because of the long separations. Everyone's hustling for a living, but life often keeps us apart."

Gabriel thought about suggesting that having a child might bring them closer to their families, but he kept the thought to himself. Instead, he patted Clayton on the shoulder as he walked by. "Hang in there, buddy."

Clayton raised an eyebrow and smiled back. They didn't say much more and continued securing the rubber buckets.

By the time the others' curiosity waned, all the buckets were already in place. Jessica, who had been pulled away by Amy to look at the largest rubber tree, blushed when she realized her tasks were already done. She quickly asked the director for more buckets and rubber bowls to collect sap from other trees.

After all, the more they collected, the more money they made. In such a straightforward setting, there weren't many ways to make extra cash. Unless they took the rubber to the market themselves, which might involve some negotiation, they had to focus on the task at hand. Even someone as influential in the business world as Gabriel had to roll up his sleeves and get to work.
