Chapter 464 Can't Suffer Any Injustice

Landon had just gotten back from his trip abroad and headed straight here, sticking to Gabriel's schedule the whole time. These past few days, he surprisingly gave Wayne any time off.

"Mr. Harriman, the folks from the Nelson Group didn't wait for you in Xyleria, so they sent someone over," Landon said.

The Nelson Group had been under a lot of pressure lately. Carl had a heart attack and was still in the hospital. The more he watched the stock market, the worse he got, making his condition unstable. He wanted to meet Gabriel in person but never got the chance. His health was too fragile, and Gabriel either didn't have the time or just didn't want to see him.

After trailing Gabriel for a few days, they finally managed to catch him after one of his meetings to convey Carl's sincerity, but still didn't get a face-to-face.

The guy they sent over was getting desperate and tried his best to get in touch with Gabriel's assistant and secretary, begging for a meeting.

For two days straight, Gabriel ignored them. It wasn't until the third day, when news came from Xyleria that Carl's son had a car accident and broke both legs, and Carl was rushed to the ICU again due to another heart attack, that Gabriel finally agreed to meet.

In a conference center's discussion area, Gabriel sat on a fancy leather sofa, his long legs in black trousers, giving off a cold and distant vibe that made people hesitant to approach or speak. Just by sitting there, the whole place felt tense and chilly, making everyone shiver.

"Hello, Mr. Harriman. My name is Adams, and I'm Mr. Nelson's executive assistant. Mr. Nelson sent me..." Adams began.

Gabriel glanced at his watch and said coolly, "I don't have time to waste. Get to the point."

Colin felt uneasy in the overly quiet room. He hadn't been able to see Gabriel for the past two days, but ended up seeing him because of Carl's son's accident. Whether it was a coincidence or something the Harriman Group orchestrated, he didn't know. But in this big discussion area, only Gabriel and the stone-faced Landon were there, and the past few days had worn Colin down enough to lose his original composure.

"Mr. Harriman..." Colin was unsure of his current situation, not knowing if he would face the same danger as Carl's son. He sat nervously on the opposite sofa, looked at Gabriel, and then took out a stack of documents from his briefcase. "This is Mr. Nelson's sincerity, and he asked me to personally show it to you."

Landon walked over, took the stack of documents, glanced at them, and then handed them over.

Gabriel looked at the contents but didn't take them, not even bothering to look a second time, signaling Landon to take them away.

He spoke indifferently, "The Nelson Group in Xyleria is one of the companies close to the film industry, also involved in real estate and the internet, often conflicting with the Harriman Group. But we never interfered with each other. If I wanted to compete with your company, it would only take a slight strategic change, so why would you need to surrender a subsidiary to show your loyalty?"

Colin's face went pale as he caught Gabriel's drift.

Everyone knew that when Gabriel decided to go after the Nelson Group, it was serious. For a powerhouse like the Harriman Group, other companies were just small fry. If they wanted to crush them, they could do it without breaking a sweat.

If it weren't for the news about Carl's son's accident, Colin might have stuck to his script. But now, seeing Gabriel's cold demeanor, he had to tread carefully.

Colin glanced nervously at Landon and said, "Mr. Harriman, you know Mr. Nelson got mixed up with some small-time celebrities a few years back. They haven't been in touch much since, but that whole mess caused some losses and misunderstandings with Mrs. Harriman. To be honest, these things happen in the industry. If you make a big deal out of this, won't it hurt both of us in the end?"

"Mr. Nelson mentioned that if you could let go of the land at the Xyleria World Trade Center early next year..." Colin started.

Before he could finish, Gabriel leaned back on the sofa and said, "The land at the World Trade Center is the Nelson Group's key project for the next five years. It's a prime spot to turn things around. Whether they can bounce back depends on this."

Colin's face tightened, panic setting in.

He could guess what Gabriel was about to say next, and it made him feel desperate.

Gabriel's voice was cold, "It's too late. The city government has already stamped the bidding documents, assigning the Harriman Group to the project. Unfortunately, Carl's hopes completely shattered."

Gabriel took a car back to the hotel and saw Jessica's Facebook post from the morning.

The photo showed two roses, vibrant and dripping with dew, glowing under the warm sunlight.

He didn't reply or like the post, just put his phone back in his coat pocket.

Hearing a car pull up downstairs, Jessica looked up from the couple's reality show info in her room. She glanced at the time, realizing it was already past seven in the evening.

Gabriel usually came back around four or five in the afternoon, but today he was late.

Jessica hadn't eaten yet, so she estimated the time it would take for Gabriel to park and come up to the hotel. She put down what she was doing and got up to change clothes, planning to go down for dinner with him.

But as soon as she opened the door and stepped out, she froze, standing there stunned.

Gabriel walked towards her with a composed stride.

He held a bouquet of roses with petals seemingly dripping with water, so vibrant and beautiful that they instantly caught her eyes.

Jessica closed the door behind her and looked up at Gabriel as he stopped in front of her. "What's this about?"

Gabriel looked down at her, slowly leaned in to kiss her on the lips, and said softly, "I told you, I won't miss anything I owe you. My wife deserves all the best."
