After a long day of work, everyone returned to the guesthouse, exhausted and ready to collapse into bed until morning. Dinner seemed like an unnecessary effort.
Debra suggested a light and simple dinner, partly because of the heat and partly because no one had the energy to prepare a big meal. But skipping dinner wasn't an option either; after a day's hard work, they needed to replenish their strength.
This way, they could also save a bit of money.
Everyone agreed.
After showering and changing, they gathered together, and Marshall announced the day's earnings.
"Alright, let me break down what the rubber factory owner paid us today. Overall, the numbers look pretty good," Marshall said, holding up his iPad. "Clayton and Cindy earned $336 today, while Maurice and Debra earned $299."
When the guests heard that each group's earnings were higher than expected, their tired faces lit up with excitement.
"Lester and Rachel earned $246, Brent and Melissa earned $325."
"Why is there such a big difference?" Rachel asked, surprised, glancing at Lester. It was clear she blamed Lester for constantly helping Amy, which had cost their group valuable time.
Lester ignored her, sitting back with his legs crossed, pretending not to hear.
"Kevin and Amy earned $350, while Gabriel and Jessica earned $429."
Clayton chimed in, "Mr. Harriman and Jessica should have earned more, considering Mr. Harriman was always helping everyone out." He started clapping, and the others joined in.
Marshall continued, "Today's total is $1985. After deducting the cost of the afternoon fruit and simple dinner, we have $1700 left. This amount is enough to cover the bus fare to the next city and still have money left for meals on the way. Congratulations, everyone, on completing today's task."
Marshall clapped along with everyone else. "And because of the extreme heat today, the production team has decided to give each group some cooling rewards. There are chilled fruits, portable air conditioners, small fans, cooling mats, and cooling towels. Tonight, you can arrange some fun games and help yourselves to the rewards."
"Oh, and one more thing. Due to the great response from yesterday's live stream, the production team has decided to live stream the entire bus ride to the next destination tomorrow. It won't affect the regular filming; it's just an additional live stream during the journey. Is everyone okay with that?"
Brent asked, "Does that mean we'll be filmed even while sleeping on the bus?"
Marshall laughed, "Yes, but we'll make sure to find the best camera angles for each guest. Since the live stream was a huge success, it would be a missed opportunity not to continue. As for the extra pay, the producer will discuss it with your agents."
Since the director had already mentioned additional pay, everyone agreed. They were here for fame and money, unlike Jessica, who was planning to retire from the industry. Jessica and Gabriel were participating as a favor to Marshall for helping out in Washington. The pay wasn't important to them, but they still cooperated without any objections.
With the discussion over, they prepared to eat. Rachel said, "I think I might have a bit of heatstroke. I'm not feeling well and don't have an appetite. You guys go ahead and eat; I'm going to lie down for a while."
