Chapter 392: Everything is About Jessica
"Against the Flow" was a box office hit, grossing over 1.2 billion during the holiday period and continuing to perform well in the following month.
The final box office exceeded 1.9 billion, which was a brilliant achievement during this period. The director, who was originally unremarkable, also reaped countless honors and fame through this composition in a short time.
Many people in the industry noticed that although Jessica was indeed a good actress, almost every drama or movie she was involved in became a hit. Even a unit drama she made a cameo in last year, which featured all new actors, gained popularity and received good reviews.
It seemed that any script Jessica touched never flopped.
After the box office success of her first movie, almost all the people who were engaged in film believed much more that Jessica was a very lucky person. As a result, she received more offers for movies and TV series in spite of a busy schedule.
Over a month later, Xyleria was about to enter winter. After a rain, the temperature dropped sharply, followed by sleet. When heading to the set in the morning, the driver drove very carefully because of the thin ice on the ground.
The filming of "Shadow Kill" was already halfway through. Recently, two newcomers joined the crew as minor characters in the movie. Despite being newcomers with little acting experience, they were well-connected and didn't face much exclusion. They were just as glamorous as the main actors. Even though they didn't have trailers, the nanny cars and private cars they drove were quite luxurious.
As soon as Jessica arrived on set, she saw commotion inside.
The props team had been reprimanded several times over the past two months because many props frequently had "issues." Out of respect for Carl, they hadn't been replaced, but the director and Sebastian had subtly and overtly told them several times to cooperate well with the on-site filming and not to cause trouble.
The words worked little and almost nothing different took place. Especially those who were paid to cause trouble for Jessica had become lazy after a few incidents. As a result, when other actors needed props, they were often careless. Several times, props malfunctioned, and actors were almost injured. This time, a newcomer was almost scratched on the face by a prop and was arguing with the crew, demanding an explanation from the props team.
The choices newcomers made annoyed the director a lot. Jessica went into the trailer to change clothes, and Zoey muttered beside her, "The props team is in trouble today. This time, they offended someone important. I heard it's someone sent by Harriman Entertainment."
Jessica raised an eyebrow, "Harriman Entertainment? When did they start signing artists?"
"It's not Harriman Entertainment's signing , but someone related to the Harriman family. She's only eighteen, and three years ago, she went to H country to chase an idol. She even signed with a company there as a trainee andwon awards. By the way,she gained some popularity. Later, she probably had conflicts with her teammates, with her explosive temper, she terminated her contract and returned home." Zoey said while adjusting Jessica's collar, "The crew said she's someone you can't offend. Even Mr. Harriman can't handle her. After sending her here, he left without any intention of managing her. The crew knows she's related to the Harriman family and doesn't dare to offend her. She scolded Krise to cry yesterday and is now causing trouble for the props team. It's quite splendid."
"Krise?"
"Yes, the makeup artist who insisted on using B brand powder on you, knowing it would cause an allergic reaction. She bullied new actors in the crew relying on her background. You didn't bother with her and just switched makeup artists, which only embarrassed her temporarily. But this person made her cry and told her to get out here. It was quite satisfying. And the props team will probably have to face the consequences today."
Jessica chuckled, "Youth is wonderful."
Zoey's mouth twitched, "You say that, but you're only twenty-six."
She was twenty-six, but in a few years, she would be thirty. The little bit of revenge and drive she had in her youth was all directed at Trinity and her family. Later, even though her career in the entertainment field was quite successful, the world of fame and fortune was the most taxing on one's temperament. Jessica also intended to maintain a peaceful life for Danielle, planning to transition to behind-the-scenes work in a year or two and gradually step out of the spotlight. She didn't intend to offend too many people, as behind-the-scenes work required connections, and the key was to handle things flexibly.
The sudden drop in temperature in Xyleria caused poor road conditions in the past two days. Great traffic jams happened in the center of Xyleria since morning.
"Mr. Harriman, I've sent you the weekend schedule." Landon, sitting in the front passenger seat, looked back through the rearview mirror.
Gabriel had a laptop on his lap. The traffic ahead was congested, and the car had been stationary for a while. He glanced at the schedule Landon sent and instructed, "Screen and confirm the attendees for the day, send them a copy, and coordinate with them as soon as possible."
"Got it." Landon glanced at the road ahead and said, "Given the current traffic, the partners who flew to Xyleria specifically to meet you today will probably arrive very late."
Gabriel: "Any other plans for today?"
Landon hesitated for a moment and then said, "None, but you know, Stanley was released from prison half a month ago."
Gabriel looked up from the laptop and stared at him.
Landon met his gaze through the rearview mirror, "We've been monitoring him for the past half month. He behaved well in prison and submitted many applications, so they had no reason to detain him any longer. Since his release, he has only visited Milton once and spent most of his time in a temporary rental. Although he hasn't caused trouble for Jessica, he seems unfamiliar with using modern smartphones and has visited internet cafes several times, spending entire days there. The surveillance shows that all his searches are related to Jessica."
After a pause, Landon continued, "I've already communicated with the Department of Justice. They will monitor Stanley's activities and we will seize the right moment to detain him. If the Department of Justice doesn't intervene, we will handle it ourselves to eliminate any future threats."
Gabriel closed the laptop.
"Before we handle it, I want to meet him."
