Chapter 536 Sweet Extra of Couple Variety Show 21
After setting up the tables and chairs, Gabriel didn't head back to the tent outside the guesthouse. Instead, he joined Clayton and Brent, who were deep in conversation. Friendships between men can form quickly, and a shared interest often leads to long discussions. For once, Gabriel didn't leave immediately and sat with them on the first-floor sofa of the guesthouse, engaging in casual conversation.
Both Brent and Clayton were smokers. They negotiated with Marshall to temporarily stop filming in that area. The two lit their cigarettes and offered one to Gabriel. Gabriel didn't refuse but didn't smoke either. He placed the cigarette on the coffee table and poured a few cups of coffee.
Clayton was surprised, "Gabriel, you don't smoke?"
"I used to, especially when I was abroad. I had a heavy smoking habit. But since coming back home, I've cut down a lot. Nowadays, I rarely touch them," Gabriel said, setting down the coffee pot. His calm demeanor continued to surprise the artists and staff present, as he didn't exhibit any airs.
Brent, intrigued, asked, "So, Gabriel, you don't smoke even at social events and dinners?"
Taking advantage of the fact that the cameras weren't filming, Clayton spoke more freely, patting Brent on the shoulder with a smile, "You think all businessmen need to drink and smoke to discuss matters? At Gabriel's level, any event he personally attends is bound to have high-profile attendees. At their tier, alcohol and cigarettes lose their significance. Staying clear-headed is the real challenge, right, Gabriel?"
Gabriel lingered his gaze on Clayton for a moment longer, responding with a faint smile but no answer. Instead, he handed over the freshly poured coffee, "We're recording a show, let's not talk about this."
"Thanks, Gabriel." Brent quickly accepted the coffee with both hands.
Clayton did the same, but being in his thirties, he was naturally more composed than Brent. His attitude showed admiration and respect, but more importantly, he cherished the opportunity to sit and chat with someone like Gabriel.
There was a noise from the stairs as Cindy came down looking for Clayton. She ran into Rachel, who was taking selfies on the balcony upstairs. The two laughed and chatted as they descended the stairs. Seeing the three men on the sofa, Cindy politely nodded to Brent and Gabriel before heading straight to her husband, Clayton.
Rachel followed, unable to hold back her surprise, "Why are you guys smoking here? Is the production team okay with this? Aren't the rules strict about smoking on camera?"
Brent, with a cigarette in his mouth, pointed to the corner where the fixed camera was, "It's off now. Marshall will turn it back on after we're done. No cameras, no restrictions."
Upon hearing that the cameras were off, Rachel's expression relaxed. She didn't continue to play the good girl role, but her eyes showed a mix of emotions as she glanced at Gabriel, who had just set down a cup of coffee.
Cindy was chatting with Clayton about the hot water heater in their room. Brent didn't interrupt but turned to ask Rachel, "Where's Lester?"
Rachel replied flatly, "Probably sleeping in the room."
Hearing Rachel's tone, Brent took the cigarette out of his mouth and teased, "Did you guys have a fight?"
Rachel quickly denied, "No, no, he's just like that. He's slow to warm up and needs a few days to get comfortable. He stayed up late last night and is just tired. Don't worry about it."
