Chapter 99 Promising to Repay a Hundredfold

"Mommy, do you really like my teddy bear?" Danielle looked up at Jessica with a happy smile.
Jessica didn't answer, stopping in her tracks. "What's going on?"
Danielle didn't understand why Jessica had such a serious expression, so she quickly replied obediently, "Today, a tall and cool uncle came to the kindergarten. He said Uncle Spencer had returned home and sent him to bring me some small gifts. Besides those, there were two big boxes of delicious candies and chocolates. The uncle said the candies and chocolates were for me and kids at the kindergarten, but he reminded me not to eat too much to avoid cavities. So I only brought back toy dolls and a teddy bear hair clip."
As Danielle spoke, her eyes sparkled as she looked at Jessica. "Mommy, has Uncle Spencer really left? He always kept his promise to me, saying goodbye properly before leaving, so is he really gone now?"
At this point, the joy in Danielle's eyes gradually faded, even in the face of many toys and dresses she loved. This sudden parting made it hard for her to adjust.
But since Uncle Spencer had kept his promise, Danielle also had to keep her word and not cry or make a fuss.
With slightly reddened eyes, Danielle held a doll in one hand, looked up at Jessica, and seemed to hope that Mommy would say that Uncle Spencer hadn't left yet, that he would leave tomorrow or the day after tomorrow.
"He has already left."
Though cruel, when Danielle returned home later and saw the empty main bedroom, she would still have to face reality.
Danielle's eyes welled up with tears, but she quickly lowered her head, not saying a word. She tightly grasped Jessica's sleeve with one hand and held the gifts Uncle Spencer had given her with the other. She quietly sobbed, trying hard not to cry out loud, and softly said, "I promised Uncle Spencer not to cry."
Jessica fell silent for a moment, then gently patted Danielle's head. "You've rescued so many little animals before and released them after keeping them at home for a few months. It's only been a month. What's there to cry about?"
After saying that, she patted Danielle's head again. "Let's go home. Mommy will make something delicious for you."
They walked home under the neighborhood's dim streetlights, a car stopping beside her.
Jessica didn't look back at first, but then someone got out of the driver's seat and respectfully called out, "Miss Jessica."
Jessica paused and turned her gaze.
Landon closed the car door and walked towards her. "I'm sorry to disturb you. I'm Mr. Harriman's assistant. My last name is Wilson."
"The tall and cool uncle!" Before Jessica could respond, Danielle, who was already excited, exclaimed at her side, "Mommy, this is the uncle who brought me many gifts at the kindergarten today! The tall and cool uncle I mentioned!"
Jessica held Danielle back, who was bouncing around in excitement, and then looked at him. "I'm sorry, the child is naive. I was just about to look for you. There's really no need to give these things to the child. You can take them back..."
She handed over the small white diamond teddy bear she was holding.
Landon immediately understood her intention and respectfully declined, saying, "This represents Mr. Harriman's affection towards Danielle. Miss Jessica, there's no need to be polite."
"I'm not being polite. I'll keep these dresses and dolls, but you need to take back the hair clip. Please tell Mr. Harriman." Jessica paused. "Tell him that I appreciate the goodwill."
Landon didn't say anything more. He took out an envelope from his pocket and handed it to her. "This is from Mr. Harriman for you."
Jessica glanced at the envelope, not sure what it contained, but it looked thin, so it probably wasn't something as common as cash.
She hesitated for a moment before accepting it, quickly opening and then closing the envelope. She seemed almost as if she had been burned and hurriedly tried to hand it back to Landon. "You take it back!"
Landon didn't take it, only saying, "Mr. Harriman said this is his promised repayment, a hundredfold."
Inside was a black card!
The holder of the black card could access any luxury high-end venue globally without restrictions and could easily enter the exclusive world of luxury appointments.
Moreover, there was no spending limit on the card, something that thousands of wealthy socialites in the country couldn't obtain. Especially in the country, it was difficult to apply for such a global privilege black card, with no more than three in the entire country!
Gabriel had been in her home for less than forty days, from treating injuries to daily necessities, and hadn't even spent ten thousand dollars yet. She couldn't dare to accept even a hair clip, let alone a black card!
Jessica suddenly smiled, turned her head, pointed to the place where she lived, a place without even property management or security, and then looked at Landon. "You see, Mr. Harriman and I are completely from two different worlds. We've had this brief intersection by chance for a few days. There's really no need to elevate me like this. Take it back to him."
Landon still didn't take the envelope, only saying, "Mr. Harriman is a man of his word."
Jessica smiled again, finding it absurd. "Even if it's a hundredfold repayment, there's no need for this!"
"Mr. Harriman's life is priceless, and a hundredfold repayment is only fitting," Landon said. Though he didn't take it, he gestured for her to keep it, then took a step back and said firmly, "Miss Jessica, please keep it."
"Are you unreasonable? What are you doing? Don't get in the car yet, you..."
Landon stepped back to the car, nodded politely to her, and decisively got into the car, closing the door. The car reversed and smoothly exited the neighborhood, quickly disappearing.
Jessica hurriedly followed to the front of the neighborhood gate. After the car left the neighborhood unchecked, it quickly disappeared into the distance.
"Does everyone at Harriman Group enjoy tossing money and running? Got so much cash you don't know where to spend it." Exhausted from running, Jessica stood at the neighborhood gate, hands on her hips, staring in the direction the car had disappeared, breathing heavily and looking at the envelope in her hand, then glanced down at Danielle, who was holding a doll and looking up at her with a puzzled expression.
"Mommy, who is this Mr. Harriman you're talking about? Is he Uncle Spencer?" Danielle asked curiously.
As Jessica caught her breath and walked back, she picked up the envelope in her hand, took a deep breath, and gritted her teeth. "From now on, don't call him Uncle Spencer. Let's just call him Sugar Daddy."
"Mommy, do you want Uncle Spencer to be my daddy?"
"That's not what I meant!"
"But you just said so!"
"I didn't!"
"You did! Mommy can't lie!"
"Danielle, are you asking for a beating?"
