Chapter 388 Here to watch a movie?

Jessica was still munching on popcorn, occasionally interrupted by Kevin asking about the upcoming plot.

Jessica shook her head and said, "No spoilers. Carefully watch and keep quiet"

Kevin reached into the popcorn bucket in Jessica's arms, grabbed a piece, tossed it into his mouth, smiled and went on watching. But he still occasionally leaned close to Jessica's ear, asking if a particular scene was difficult to shoot or if a certain prop was real or fake. This time, he wasn't asking about the plot but was more interested in the actors and props in her crew.

Jessica chatted with him while eating popcorn. More than half an hour had passed quickly and the plot was entering a more intense and exciting phase. Most of the audience in the theater held their breath, and so did Jessica, as she had vivid memories of several scenes.

Wayne didn't notice what was happening in front of him. He was also holding a bucket of popcorn, which he had bought himself. When he bought it, he asked Mr. Harriman if he wanted some, but Mr. Harriman, who had invited him to the movie, hadn't touched his popcorn bucket at all, treating him like he was invisible.

Wayne had no choice but to eat his popcorn while following the plot. Every couple of minutes, he was amazed by Jessica's acting and couldn't help but want to discuss the plot with Mr. Harriman. After a few attempts without any responses, Wayne could only sulk and munch on his popcorn.

"No wonder this movie has been doing well at the box office since its release. The plot is really great, and Jessica's acting is simply excellent," Wayne said after a while, trying to make small talk.

He glanced at Mr. Harriman and instantly stopped smiling.

'Is this really watching a movie? Isn't this just overtime work?'

Mr. Harriman's expression was even colder than usual in the company. What bad luck did he have to be dragged to the cinema by Mr. Harriman?

Suddenly, a humorous scene appeared on the screen, causing the whole theater to burst into laughter. Kevin laughed and whispered something into Jessica's ear. Jessica laughed along and then pulled her hat down lower, afraid that the surrounding audience would recognize her as the woman in the funny scene.

Wayne finally noticed that Gabriel's gaze wasn't on the big screen. Following his line of sight, he saw two heads in the third-to-last row.

One of them looked familiar.

But no matter who it was, the person on the screen was Jessica. Why was Mr. Harriman, who had come to the cinema with an injury, staring at those two heads instead of watching Jessica? Shouldn't he be watching Jessica?

Wayne's eyelid twitched suddenly, and he took a closer look at one of the heads.

Wayne almost crushed the popcorn in his hand, sitting up straight in shock. He glanced at Jessica and then turned to Gabriel.

Who was the person next to Jessica? It was a man indeed.

"Mr. Harriman, are you really here to watch a movie?" Wayne muttered under his breath, stuffing the almost-crushed popcorn into his mouth.

An eerie silence filled the air. Wayne realized that his previous words were practically suicidal and quickly tried to think of something to say to save himself.

But the silence remained.

Wayne took the opportunity to go to the restroom, sneaking out but not daring to leave. He planned to return after a few minutes.

However, when he returned to the theater a few minutes later, Mr. Harriman was gone.

Looking carefully, he found that Mr. Harriman had moved to the second-to-last row, sitting directly behind Jessica.

Wayne quickly went over and sat next to him, lowering his voice to ask, "Mr. Harriman, why did you change seats?"

Gabriel didn't respond to him and said after seconds, "The back row is too far. I can't see clearly."

You chose the last row yourself. There are empty seats in the front rows; why don't you go there?

He didn't dare to say it out loud and could only sit with Mr. Harriman behind the two heads. This time, being closer, he could hear what they were saying.

Kevin said, "The director's visual composition is very professional. Among the new directors, he's one of the best. Choosing you from a bunch of TV actors to star in this movie shows he has a good eye. There aren't many young actors who could interpret this role as well as you did."

Jessica nodded. "Not bad, but this director has a much bigger temper than Sam .' He's very strict. A few actors who were late twice because of schedule conflicts were scolded badly in public, no matter how famous they were."

Kevin continued, "That's professional ethics. Having a major role but still taking on other gigs or variety show appearances isn't commendable. The industry has shifted to prioritize variety shows over filming in recent years. Directors who are dedicated to making good movies can't tolerate such behavior. It's understandable to give a lesson to them."

Jessica laughed and threw another piece of popcorn into her mouth. "You've watched it, so don't just praise it. Be honest, how do you feel about this movie?"

Kevin smiled. "It's beautiful."

Jessica was utterly baffled.

"Whether on or off the screen, in TV shows or on the big screen, you stand out," Kevin said with a smile.

Jessica paused, then turned back to the screen. "It's so wasteful to kiss my ass with your skills."

Kevin nodded in agreement. "Indeed, if I were flirting with other girls, I'd probably have kids by now."

Jessica chuckled, feeling her hands sticky from the popcorn. She decided to go to the restroom to wash up, handed the popcorn bucket back to him, and left the theater.

The restroom environment wasn't great, so Jessica quickly washed her hands and came out. There were people coming and going, and she realized she had forgotten to bring her mask. She could only keep her head down as she walked back.

Just as she was about to reach the theater door, she saw someone approaching and slowed down, waiting for them to pass. Unexpectedly, the person didn't move aside and she almost bumped into them.

Jessica was surprised and wanted to apologize but didn't want to be recognized without her mask. Just as she was about to step back, her hat was pressed down, almost covering half her face.

"Don't move."

As Jessica instinctively tried to lift her hat, the person quickly pulled her into their arms and moved to a dimly lit area by the theater door.

Jessica's mind went blank for a moment because the voice was Gabriel's.

With her vision blocked by the hat, she hadn't realized why he was there in the midnight. Then she noticed someone about ten feet away holding a phone, seemingly trying to take a picture of her.
