Chapter 97 Isn't It Said That Gabriel Really Died
Michael sat in the chief seat, facing the direction of the meeting room door, and saw Gabriel returning at the door. In his old and godly eyes, there was an instant sense of relief and joy as if a heavy stone had been lifted from his heart.
"Mr. Harriman?"
All the directors and executives in the meeting room stood up.
Simon froze when he heard that voice, then turned his eyes abruptly and was shocked to see Gabriel's cool and tall figure walking in from the meeting room door.
How could it be?
Wasn't Gabriel supposed to be dead already?
If Gabriel was still alive, why hadn't he shown up for so long?
Clearly, the people he sent out to search had never found any trace of Gabriel.
A person who disappeared into thin air after an accident was usually considered dead.
Gabriel's figure was as tall and imposing as ever, with his brown eyes cold and sharp. Just standing there was enough to make people feel intimidated.
Simon's several allies in the board of directors were all stunned, and it took them a while to slowly stand up with the other directors.
"Go on." Gabriel's cold brown eyes glanced at Mr. Armstrong, then casually withdrew his gaze and looked towards Michael. "How do you plan to report the impeachment to the Department of Commerce?"
"Mr. Harriman." Mr. Armstrong's legs went weak in an instant, and he looked at Simon with a pleading look.
Didn't he say Gabriel was truly dead?
How was this perfectly healthy person standing in front of them?
Gabriel had always been decisive. Coming back at a time when they just revealed their cards, wasn't this like putting their lives in danger?
Michael slowly stood up, staring Gabriel. If there weren't so many people around the conference table, he would have definitely swung his cane directly at Gabriel.
Daring to stay away for over a month, if Nicholas hadn't quietly informed him in advance, he couldn't have withstood such a shock.
"Wayne, help Mr. Michael Harriman to rest." Gabriel walked slowly towards the direction of the chief seat at the conference table. As he passed by Simon, who was standing stiffly there, he didn't pause for a moment. Only a gaze full of undisguised coldness swept past Simon's side.
Simon's spine chilled, and he suddenly turned his eyes to look at Gabriel, but Gabriel had already retracted his gaze and walked straight ahead.
Mr. Armstrong and Mr. Phillips no longer dared to look towards Gabriel, lightly nudging each other at the table, figuring out how to protect themselves.
But it was clear that Gabriel was deliberately attacking their weaknesses today, aiming to expose all the overt and covert allies of Simon and catch them all.
At 3.00p.m.,, since Gabriel suddenly appeared in the company, the employees of Harriman Group received another major piece of news.
The company's intranet suddenly posted personnel change notices for dozens of senior executives and board members, including Simon, Mr. Armstrong, Mr. Phillips, and several board members who had quietly lurked in the meeting room competing for seats on the board through Simon.
It sounded like a personnel change, but to put it more bluntly, before the board meeting even ended, they had been directly dismissed. The news of the personnel changes spread quickly through the Harriman Group's intranet and all official channels that could receive the information.
After the meeting, outside the meeting room door, there were already two rows of black-clad bodyguards.
Several directors and senior executives who were suddenly dismissed in the meeting room smashed their computers, wanting to confront Gabriel directly. However, Gabriel not only ignored them, but also had those troublemaking high-level executives ruthlessly escorted out by the bodyguards and sent down the elevator, rather than being thrown out directly, thus granting them a semblance of dignity.
Some directors were so angry that they forgot their usual dignified image as directors, and after Gabriel left the meeting room, they wanted to rush directly to the CEO's office. When the elevator wouldn't let them in, they climbed up floor by floor, cursing and making a scene in front of the employees. The bodyguards watched all this, and when they were too tired to move, they were sent back to the first floor and kicked out of the company.
The Harriman Group was never soft when it came to firing employees. Anyone who lacked the ability or made major mistakes at work basically had no second chance and was directly expelled from the company.
But today, it was truly rare to see so many directors who had contributed to the Harriman Group being fired simultaneously .
The final person who had not yet been escorted out, with even the bodyguards hesitating to act immediately, was Simon.
He was blocked by the two rows of bodyguards, staring at them coldly, and directly asked to see Gabriel again.
The bodyguards were about to stop Simon, but at that moment, Landon came down and said in the elevator, "Mr. Harriman asked him to go up."
Only then did Simon enter the elevator, wanting to ask something, but Landon just stood on one side of the elevator, watching the numbers change inside the elevator, not revealing a word, not even a glance.
Just as he stepped into the CEO's office and saw Gabriel behind the huge desk, Simon didn't want to beat around the bush. He was about to reveal his final gambit to secure his last position within Harriman Group, including the layer of relationship he had as Gabriel's relative.
"Uncle Simon, please sit down."
Gabriel, unlike his cold and distant demeanor in the meeting room, politely invited him to take a seat.
Simon couldn't figure him out for a moment, finding it difficult to maintain his usual high and composed posture.
He stood straight, not sitting down, his voice full of displeasure. "There's no need to sit, nor dare I. I'm afraid Mr. Harriman and I have never had this uncle-nephew relationship from the beginning."
"Uncle Simon, what are you saying." Gabriel leisurely put down the tablet displaying a certain electronic document in his hand, leaned back a bit, and casually said, "If it weren't for your sake, how could I have let Paul enter Sherlock Valley Academy so smoothly? Paul is abroad without any supervision, behaving recklessly. I heard that he ran over an innocent pedestrian in Sherlock Valley two months ago, but you hushed it up with money. Shouldn't he be taught a lesson for his young and indulgent behavior?"
Paul, Simon's only son, had always been a rebellious individual, leveraging the Harriman family name as the grandson. He was of the same generation as Gabriel but had been expelled from the household by Mr. Michael Harriman long ago. Prior to studying abroad, Paul had engaged in relationships with numerous female students at his school, resulting in pregnancies and nearly causing a significant scandal. Simon did everything in his power to send his troublesome son abroad to conceal his actions.
Hearing Gabriel's words, Simon's face instantly tightened.
"What have you done to Paul?" his face grew even more tense, as if his throat had been instantly gripped, unable to hide his anxiety.
