Chapter 439 Gabriel Shows Off His Wife
So, Gabriel suddenly popped up on his verified Instagram, and a bunch of fans and curious folks started checking out his profile. All they found was a pitch-black profile pic and a single like on Jessica's post.
But then, in just two minutes, the hashtag #GabrielShowingOffHisWife# shot up to the top three trending topics. Yeah, just two minutes.
Jessica, totally clueless about what was happening, clicked on the tag. She saw that fans had brightened and zoomed in on Gabriel's profile pic. Turns out, it was a photo of Jessica holding his phone, taking a shot out the window. It looked like a regular night scene, but you could see Jessica's reflection in the window.
This pic was from two years ago when Jessica set up Gabriel's Facebook profile pic. She thought he'd just use it on Facebook, but nope, he kept it and now it's on Instagram.

Just as the internet was losing its mind over this, Gabriel posted on Instagram:
[Jessica's work is public, but her family life isn't media fodder. Any baseless rumors or negative news have nothing to do with Jessica. Our young daughter is innocent and deserves to see the world as a kind and beautiful place. Public attacks on her are unacceptable. Please be mindful of your words and actions. Our daughter looks like both of us. Our family is happy and at peace. This is all we have to say on the matter.]
Kimberly, who had been glued to her computer for hours, was shocked to see Gabriel stepping into the online world to defend Jessica from all the public speculation and attacks.
But the posts she had made on Instagram were out there. She watched as her inbox filled with cold insults and doubts, transforming from curious inquiries just moments ago. She clenched her hands tightly, wishing she could delete her Instagram account in an instant, wishing none of this had ever happened.
Her parents had always said Gabriel was a cold and low-key guy, never getting involved in trivial stuff, especially not on Instagram. He supposedly hated it. Yet, he had an account for Jessica, with everything revolving around her.
He made an exception.
All his exceptions were for Jessica.
She couldn't believe Gabriel would ignore his parents' opinions and turn her heartfelt confession into a "disgraceful act of attacking a child." For a woman like Jessica, he didn't sugarcoat anything.
Meanwhile, Gabriel's parents saw a photo Michael had just posted on Facebook.
Michael's Facebook friends were just family and close friends, no random media, just some old acquaintances and former partners.
In the photo, Michael was holding a cute little girl, smiling broadly. To make Danielle happy, he posed with two fingers up, like saying "Yay," and Danielle copied him, smiling and posing with two fingers up. The old and the young faced the camera, grinning from ear to ear.
The angle and style of the photo made it clear it was Fred's handiwork.
When Michael posted the pic on Facebook, he added a caption: [My great-granddaughter! Little Danielle! Six years old! Kindergarten class president!]
Zooming in on the photo to get a better look at Danielle's face, Gabriel's parents exchanged glances, and the previously tense atmosphere turned silent.
Kimberly came out of her room, her eyes already red. Seeing her parents holding a phone with an enlarged photo of Danielle and noticing their slightly softened expressions and the particularly quiet atmosphere, Kimberly pressed her lips together, her face gradually turning pale.
On the other side, seeing Michael's recent Facebook post, especially the caption, Fred's eyelid twitched.
Michael had definitely been triggered last month.
Last month, an old friend of Michael's, whom he had known for decades, had just welcomed a great-grandson. The friend, beaming with joy, sent Michael a video with a photo of the less-than-a-month-old baby, praising the child's good looks and promising future. Michael had smiled and praised a few times.
After hanging up the video call, Michael's expression immediately fell. He cursed at the now-black screen, "Old geezer, eighty-something and still showing off. Just because you got to see your great-grandson while you're still alive, you have to rub it in my face? Just you wait, I'll have a great-grandson or great-granddaughter who's ten times cuter than yours!"
Fred glanced discreetly at Seraphina, who was sitting nearby drinking water, hoping she wouldn't get any trendy ideas and start a Facebook account. If she added Michael and saw the photos, Michael would definitely start cursing again. They had just stopped arguing and were resting. If they found another topic to argue about, no one would get any sleep tonight.
Michael had already put his phone down. Despite his leg issues, he kept rocking little Danielle in the recliner, patting her small shoulder and asking, "Danielle, what can you do? Jessica is usually quite busy and doesn't have much time to teach you, right?"
Danielle looked up at him, "Elder, I can draw!"
Michael patted her little head, pouting and coaxing her, "What did I just say? Not Grandpa, it's Great-Grandpa. I'm your real Great-Grandpa!"
"Great-Grandpa." Danielle giggled, hugging his neck, "Daddy said my drawings are really good. Do you want to see them, Great-Grandpa?"
"Really? Can you draw one for Great-Grandpa now?"
"Sure!"
Receiving Michael's look, Fred quickly called someone to bring paper and pens. Since there hadn't been any children in the house, they didn't even have crayons. They quickly sent someone to a nearby stationery store to buy some.
Danielle took the paper and crayons, climbed onto the chair opposite Michael, and started drawing on the table, looking at Michael seriously as she drew.
Michael felt like Danielle was drawing him, so he sat up straight, cleared his throat, and maintained a proper posture. He also glanced at Seraphina, feeling very proud.
