Chapter 313 Bring Your Brain Before You Talk to Me
Mr. Smith sobered up instantly, his face going pale as he stumbled back and collapsed into a chair. "Mr. Harriman?"
Gabriel stared at him, expressionless. "I'll ask you again, who are you drinking with?"
Jessica was in Gabriel's arms, clearly drunk but clinging to him in a way that left no doubt about their relationship. It was obvious to everyone: Jessica was Gabriel's woman.
One of the organizers shot a glare at Cherry, silently blaming her for unknow Jessica's situation and bringing her here.
Cherry had no choice but to step up and try to defuse the situation. "Mr. Harriman, Jessica is an entertainer. It's normal for her to socialize and drink with directors and advertisers. People in her position can't avoid it."
Gabriel's eyes cut to Cherry like a blade, silencing her. "Think before you speak to me." He held Jessica firmly as she wobbled in his arms.
His protective and intimate actions made everyone nervous. They couldn't tell if Jessica and Gabriel were just lovers or something more. But the fact that Gabriel had come personally to rescue her, kicking the door open, spoke volumes.
Mr. Smith was scared stiff, sitting there in silence, almost completely sobered up by the fright. After a while, he finally managed to speak, "It's a misunderstanding, a complete misunderstanding. Mr. Harriman, we have little get-togethers sometimes, invite a few minor celebs to spice things up, you know?We were just discussing a perfume endorsement with Jessica but we got carried away and drank too much. We had no idea Jessica was your woman. If we had known, we wouldn't have dared to push her to drink, not even with a hundred guts. But Mr. Harriman, I was drunk and confused, but I swear nothing happened. We... ah!"
Mr. Smith's rambling explanation was cut short as the chair he sat on was suddenly kicked out from under him, and he fell to the ground in a mess, both scared and in pain. He tried to get up but froze when he saw Gabriel's cold eyes, which seemed ready to chop off his hand.
Mr. Smith's legs gave out again, and he sat back on the ground, not daring to move, pleading with a pained expression. "Mr. Harriman, it's really a misunderstanding! A misunderstanding!"
Everyone else was terrified, wishing they could disappear from the room.
Cherry was also scared stiff, standing by the table, unable to speak, just staring blankly at Jessica being held. Her mind was filled with thoughts of what to do next. She shuddered, fear gripping her. What if she'd offended someone from the Harriman family? What then?
Gabriel's voice cut through the tension like ice. "My woman can choose whatever circle she wants; that's her freedom. The entertainment industry has many sides, but she doesn't need to touch the dirty ones. The traffic and resources she gets are earned by her talent and mutual achievements with investors. Remember Jessica's name. She doesn't need to socialize with drinks. If you want her endorsements, come with sincerity and respect."
"Yes, yes, Mr. Harriman is right. Today was really a misunderstanding. We had no idea Ms. Jenner was your woman. And we were really just drinking. You see, the drinks are clean, with nothing added," one of the organizers quickly chimed in, his face full of sincere apology and fear.
Cherry suddenly whispered, "But Jessica said she has a boyfriend at Blue Bay Apartments."
She didn't know why she risked saying that, but she instinctively hoped that Jessica's emotional stance might be unstable.
As soon as Cherry finished speaking, someone beside her tugged at her arm, signaling her to shut up. She fell silent, then mustered the courage to look at Gabriel. But Gabriel clearly didn't intend to look at someone as brainless as her. Amid Mr. Smith's trembling explanations and everyone's apologies, he held Jessica and left.
The door to the private room opened and closed. The person who had pulled Cherry earlier said, "Don't you know that Blue Bay Apartments are backed by the Harriman Group? That's Mr. Harriman's place!"
Cherry's face turned pale.
Everyone was still in a state of fear, thinking about how to save themselves, when the door to the private room suddenly opened again.
Jessica, who had just left, suddenly remembered her phone and kept muttering, "My phone, my phone is still with her, my phone."
When Gabriel re-entered, everyone held their breath, but they heard Jessica muttering about her phone. Gabriel looked expressionlessly in Cherry's direction.
Cherry trembled, remembering that she had confiscated Jessica's phone earlier. She quickly picked up the phone from the table and handed it over with trembling hands, trying to explain herself, "Mr. Harriman."
Gabriel took the phone and, as Cherry was about to speak, coldly said one word, "Get out."
Cherry immediately shut her mouth, standing there as if frozen, her blood turning to ice.
Jessica was helped out of the hotel elevator and to the car outside. Hearing the car door open, she clung tightly to Gabriel's clothes, looking up at his face, frowning. "Are you really Gabriel?"
Gabriel held the car door open with one hand and supported her waist with the other to keep her from falling backward. He looked down at the heavily drunk Jessica. "Who else do you want to go with?"
Jessica hiccuped and shook her head. "I don't want to go with anyone else. I only want to go with Gabriel. But I'm so drunk, I'm afraid I'll mistake someone else for you."
As she spoke, she continued to look up at the tall and handsome Gabriel, suddenly smiling and pressing her hands against his cheeks. When Gabriel frowned at her, she pouted and said, "I didn't need to get wasted tonight, but Cynthia, our dear Cynthia, went MIA. Figured she'd swoop in and save me, but you beat her to it.."
