Chapter 510 You're the One Who Is Jealous

Jessica, with a hint of ungratefulness, scratched his palm and said, "You were trying to lure Aaron out, but you almost sent your wife to others."

"Sent to whom? Keegan?"

Jessica opened her mouth, her fingers stopped scratching his palm and tried to pull away, but he held her tightly.

Gabriel pulled the retreating Jessica back. If it weren't for the device around her neck, she would have already been in his arms.

"I accidentally discovered the Chloe family's connection with Keegan while investigating Aaron, and it turns out Keegan's father is also involved in my mom's matter. That's why I had to meet him twice, but it was never in private. The first time was at an auto repair shop with staff around, and the second time was at Spring Villa, in the first-floor lounge with people all around!" Jessica explained loudly.

Gabriel brought her back to the bedside, letting her with the heavy neck brace sit down first. "Why are you explaining it in a rush? I haven't mention that Keegan waited outside the hospital all day to see you."

Jessica's heart skipped a beat. She remembered that when she had her accident, Keegan probably realized the two kidnappers weren't his men. Landon had also mentioned that when Samuel arrived, Keegan was already there.

They had broken up for years, yet when she had her accident, Gabriel's men arrived, and so did Keegan's. Luckily, she was unconscious at the time.

Feeling guilty, she averted her eyes. "Maybe it's because the car I was in was his, and he felt responsible, so he stayed. Should I go see him and explain?"

Gabriel glanced at her. "Explain what?"

"Just to clarify." Although she said that, there wasn't much left to discuss between her and Keegan. Everything about his father and Aaron had been explained, and her stance had always been clear.

Gabriel pressed a button on the neck brace and said, "No need. He left when he saw me."

Before Jessica could speak, the tingling sensation from the neck brace made her yelp, "Ah."

She incredulously grabbed the device around her neck and glared at him.

Gabriel calmly pressed the button twice more, increasing the intensity and heat of the electronic massage. "Focus on healing and stop thinking about useless things."

Jessica thought, 'You're the one who's jealous. When do I ever think about it?'

Taking advantage of her injury, Jessica didn't have to return to the Jenner family and spent her days idly lying in the hospital bed.

A few days later, when she was about to be discharged, Rebecca asked if she wanted to return to the Jenner family. Her villa had been quite lonely with just Rebecca living there.

Jessica used her injury as an excuse to stay at a hotel instead.

Everyone was waiting for Donald to pass away and for the Jenner family to fall into chaos. However, after Aaron's arrest, Donald's health surprisingly improved. He looked better and could occasionally eat some fruit and soup without needing a feeding tube.

With Aaron arrested, no one was paying attention to Jessica anymore. The internal struggles between Eugene, Donald, and other relatives were something she didn't want to get involved in.

The past few weeks had drained all of Jessica's energy. She needed rest, and Mackenzie and Lynn knew she was refusing all work under the guise of recovery, not even willing to take a call or do a video interview.

The Jenner family was already in chaos, and Jessica just slept endlessly in her hotel room. Her dreams were filled with Danielle taking her to the supermarket, standing outside the dessert section, pointing at the various chocolates with her big, wet eyes.

The Jenner family, the title of Best Actress—none of it mattered. She just wanted to go back to Xyleria to find Danielle!

It seemed like her dreams came true. After sleeping for an entire day, she woke up to find herself swaying in a car, still in her fluffy pajamas. She sat up and looked out the window curiously, then turned to the calm Gabriel beside her. "Wasn't I sleeping in the hotel? Where are we going?"

She couldn't imagine the scene of Gabriel carrying her out of the hotel and into the car in her thick pajamas like a bear. Not a pretty sight at all!

Seeing she was awake, Gabriel spoke, "We're going to the airport."

"What for?" Jessica, still groggy, was slow to react.

Gabriel chuckled, touching the gray bear ears on her pajama hood, then placing his hand on her messy hair. "You were crying in your sleep, calling out Danielle. Afraid that she'd cry with you, you didn't even dare to send a video. If I don't let you go back to Xyleria, you'll probably flood the hotel with your tears in your dreams."

For a moment, Jessica was in disbelief. After a while, she asked in surprise, "Can I really go back now? What about Mr. Jenner?"

"Mr. Jenner's health has improved, but he doesn't have much time left. The business circle in Washington changes every day. If you don't want to get involved, no one can force you. If you ever change your mind and decide to accept the shares Mr. Jenner left you, we can discuss it then. There will always be the best arrangement."

Gabriel could see the excitement and disbelief in her eyes. She probably thought she'd be stuck in Washington for a long time, forced onto an unfamiliar path.

But she was his wife. She didn't need to be forced into anything and she only needed to do whatever she wanted.

Gabriel pulled the fluffy-pajama-clad Jessica into his arms, comforting her like a child. "The Jenner family still has some loose ends to tie up. I've left Landon and Samuel in Washington; they know what to do."

After a moment, Jessica realized Gabriel was serious about his promise. As long as he was there, she didn't need to worry about anything. All she needed was him.

She didn't care about her current attire or her sleepy appearance. Leaning into his chest, she poked him and asked, "Do you really want to keep a lazy wife by your side?"

Gabriel replied, "I want to give you a peaceful home without any external disturbances."
