Chapter 477 I Have Such a Big Wife

Eugene finally made the call. Jessica was at the gym, just increasing the speed on the treadmill. She was a bit out of breath and didn't speak. After listening to the content on the other end, she hung up the phone without much expression.

He said that Donald had suddenly woken up and didn't want to stay in the hospital. He wanted to go back to the Jenner Villa. When Donald became stubborn, no one could change his mind. There were too many people present, and no one dared to pretend they didn't hear his request. In the end, they had to comply with Donald's requirement, deciding to observe him in the hospital for one more night and send him back to the Jenner Villa in the next morning.

Since Jessica had already returned to Washington, she was also asked to go back to the Jenner Villa.

Jessica couldn't avoid this, even though she really didn't like that place.

In the next morning, at the Jenner Estate in Washington. Although Donald was critically ill and didn't want to stay in the hospital, preferring to come home, the number of people coming and going in the estate seemed higher than ever.

As the car drove in, Jessica looked out from inside. 'Everyone's eyes are filled with cunning and predatory intent. It seems like they all can't wait to devour me whole."

"If they want you back, they should own that capacity to do so." As Gabriel finished speaking, the car had already come to a stop.

The car door opened, and Jessica followed Gabriel out. The two of them appearing at the Jenner Estate was an especially eye-catching scene.

Many friends and relatives had just come to the Jenner Villa to visit Donald, who had returned from the hospital. They were still whispering about how many days Donald had left. Suddenly, they saw Jessica appear, along with the Gabriel. Everyone's eyes were glued to them.

Some even hurried over to greet, "Mr. Harriman, long time no see. The last time we met was at the business summit in S City. I was sitting right across from you..."

Gabriel glanced coldly at the person who came over . His gaze was indifferent, and the people around him felt a clear sense of oppression. They immediately didn't dare to speak in such a setting and just stood aside, smiling and nodding .

After Donald returned, he was sent to a room at the back of the Jenner Estate to rest. Although he wasn't very conscious, sometimes opening his eyes and sometimes dazed, he was sitting in a wheelchair but couldn't sit up straight, almost slumped over.

When Jessica went over, she saw Donald leaning back in the wheelchair with his eyes closed, covered with a blanket. His withered, sallow face didn't look much different from yesterday. Sitting there, it was unclear whether he was asleep or not, but no one dared to disturb him.

Jessica went to the restroom just now. When she came back, she saw Gabriel waiting for her not far away.

There were many people coming and going, each with their own thoughts. Many couldn't help but glance at him, but because Gabriel was so cold and unapproachable, no one dared to go over and bother him.

As Jessica walked towards Gabriel, she thought to herself how Gabriel could be so good-looking.

Gabriel glanced at her and, as she approached, took her hand. His fingers held a certain strength, pulling her close to him. His deep voice whispered in her ear, "What's up?"

"When I went to the restroom just now, I ran into two people. They told me that Aaron, Daniel's father, didn't come back today. They saw me and asked a few questions about Daniel in Xyleria, asking what I thought about sending my cousin to jail."

Gabriel held her with one arm, standing with her in front of a snow-covered fence in the Jenner Estate. His other hand rested on the fence. Hearing Jessica's words, his face remained cold and his expression calm. "There will be no shortage of such probing attempts."

"Indeed, but I guess because Eugene stirred things up, the Jenner family would think I came back with a purpose. They believe I came back for the Jenner family's legacy, starting with putting Daniel in jail and now with Donald's condition," Jessica added.

Gabriel didn't say anything more. He looked around the Jenner Estate and said softly, almost unintentionally, "Sometimes, when a person is placed at a certain height, he gradually find himself with many things beyond his control."

Was he thinking about how he had originally started a company abroad but returned because of Michael's wishes, and stayed in Xyleria to take over the Harriman family business?

Jessica had heard Nicholas mention it briefly before. Although Gabriel was much more stable and outstanding in many ways, he was also someone who didn't like to be constrained. But in the end, he respected Michael's wishes and returned, taking on the responsibility of the Harriman family.

That lofty position was something many people could only dream of.

But Gabriel said that when a person standed at a certain height, they inevitably saw some atrocities.

Not everyone had the sense of duty and responsibility.

Samuel also came back with Eugene today. Jessica really didn't want to see them. Since Donald was still resting and many people were gathered around his room, she decided not to go over.

This large Jenner Estate was somewhere she had never walked around before. Now, with Gabriel taking the time to accompany her, they strolled leisurely through the snow-covered courtyard, passing the side hall and dining room, and heading to the back.

Although it was cold in Washington, the temperature was slightly warmer now. Jessica, who was wearing a particularly thick down jacket and a large woolen scarf, felt hot and took off the scarf. Gabriel took it from her and held it.

Many of the buildings in the Jenner Estate had an old-fashioned style. It was unclear whether some of the halls were genuinely passed down through generations and renovated or built later to resemble the estates of many wealthy families in Washington.

The garden at the back had a large lotus pond, now being covered with a thick layer of ice. The surrounding rockeries and corridors were also covered with white snow.

Although it occasionally snowed in Xyleria, it had never snowed so heavily.

Jessica stepped on the snow, hearing the crunch under her feet. She looked down at the snow within reach and suddenly grabbed a handful, throwing it mercilessly at Gabriel.
