The production team had already arranged for a bus to pick up the guests, and while waiting, everyone was resting at the guesthouse.
Jessica counted the money left in her pocket. She still had over a hundred dollars, and once they arrived in Majestic City, she could decide what to buy based on the situation there.
Gabriel noticed Jessica repeatedly checking the amount of money left in her pocket and asked quietly, "You planning to buy something?"
"No, just making sure I know how much I have left. Gotta be careful with every penny these days," Jessica whispered back.
The other guests were sitting under the shade of the trees, waiting for the bus, and chatting quietly among themselves. Lester and Rachel, however, weren't talking to each other; they were clearly still not on good terms. Kevin and Amy were sitting a bit farther away, not saying much to each other either.
Amy was engrossed in her phone, scrolling through Instagram. Suddenly, her eyes widened, and she turned to look at Lester.
Lester, caught off guard by Amy's sudden glare, looked at her in confusion. Amy quickly looked away, visibly annoyed, and stared at her phone again. She seemed to want to type something but remembered they were still live streaming, so she put her phone down and moved over to Jessica and Gabriel to talk quietly.
"Aunt Jessica," Amy whispered, sneaking into the conversation between Gabriel and Jessica.
"Apparently, there were too many comments bashing Lester in the live stream, so his agency bought a trending topic to clear his name. They hinted that many reality shows use malicious editing and create conflicts to provoke the guests' emotions. They even implied that you're too smooth and scripted in the show," Amy said, handing her phone to Jessica.
Jessica took the phone and glanced at the trending topic. She saw that although Lester's agency had bought the trending topic to clear his name, the real-time comments were full of people criticizing him.
One comment read: [Stop trying to clear Lester's name. Gabriel is still on the show, and he hasn't said anything. The couple is very low-key. Trying to step on Jessica and Gabriel to climb the trending topic ladder? Lester's agency must be out of their minds.]
Gabriel didn't take the phone but looked at the screen over Jessica's hand.
Amy leaned in and said, "Lester's agency is Starlight Entertainment. They've always had resource conflicts with Harriman Entertainment, right?"
Gabriel didn't ignore her and responded calmly, "Yeah."
"They're taking advantage of you two being low-key and not bothering with trending topics, trying to clear Lester's name while stepping on you," Amy said, clearly displeased.
Gabriel didn't say anything, turning to see that Jessica had already opened the live stream.
Seeing fans bashing Lester even more because of the trending topic, almost turning all the show's fans into Lester's haters, Jessica quietly closed the live stream and turned to Amy. "Stay away from him. Don't let him cling to you. Other than that, there's nothing to worry about. Fans aren't stupid; they can see what's going on."
"I know what he's up to. There are plenty of jerks in the entertainment industry. I can see through this kind of trick," Amy said, sitting down next to Jessica, clearly not planning to go back to Kevin.
They continued chatting quietly for a while. Gabriel occasionally responded to Amy, which made her feel like a child who had just received candy. She clung to Jessica's arm and chatted away, refusing to leave.
