Around ten o'clock, Jessica returned to the tent. She had just finished setting everything up inside when she noticed Gabriel coming back with another foam box, just like the one from last night.
Jessica was about to lie down when she caught sight of the box in Gabriel's hands. She was immediately surprised, "Did you go work at the local mini-mart again?"
Gabriel saw that Jessica was already prepared to sleep in the heat, her hair tied up in a high bun on top of her head, her eyes filled with excitement at the prospect of having ice to cool down with tonight.
"Work at the mini-mart? Nah, Marshall's team orders their drinks from that store. The owner recognized me when she delivered the drinks tonight and came over to say hi. I took the opportunity to ask for the box she uses to chill the drinks," Gabriel explained as he set the box down. "I just made myself known yesterday."
Jessica happily opened the foam box, finding it full of ice, and teased, "You didn't just make yourself known to the owner; her daughter must be smitten with you."
Gabriel chuckled softly, "Really? If my charm works that well, should I go back and work some more to make you sleep even better tonight?"
"Try it and see what happens!" Jessica immediately put the box down and extended her leg to trip him.
Gabriel saw her intention. They couldn't stand upright in the tent, and Jessica was already sitting. He sat down and pulled Jessica into his arms, glancing around the tent.
During dinner, Jessica had asked the director for the tent's rain cover, which could completely block out the surroundings. Though the tent was somewhat lit, shadows were still visible from outside. Gabriel didn't move much, just held Jessica's waist and lightly tapped her forehead with his finger. "I just want you to sleep comfortably, and now you're jealous. You weren't this jealous in the rubber forest this afternoon."
"Not jealous? I almost wanted to punch a hole in Rachel's chest," Jessica said, pretending to shoot at the air with a fierce expression.
Gabriel laughed softly in her ear.
"And you're laughing? Always attracting attention wherever you go. I think the safest place for you is locked up in the office building, where all your staff are men and none of them are flirting with you," Jessica said, pouting.
Gabriel suddenly looked thoughtful and said, "Not necessarily."
Jessica was shocked.
"Who? Who would flirt with you? Don't tell me it's Wayne?" she asked, wide-eyed.
Gabriel didn't respond, making Jessica's eyes widen even more. "It can't be Landon, right?"
Gabriel raised an eyebrow and looked at Jessica, holding her firmly on his lap. "What are you thinking?"
"I'm thinking that maybe one or two of your staff might not be straight," Jessica said.
Gabriel's eyebrows twitched. "The entertainment industry has really corrupted your mind."
"Corrupted? It's a normal thought. You and Jimmy... I even suspected you two had something going on..."
Jessica didn't finish her sentence before Gabriel playfully bit her ear, not hard but enough to make her shiver. She quickly glanced around the tent's rain cover, suddenly feeling very aware of their surroundings.
