Chapter 450 The Damn Possessiveness

Hearing the noise, Jessica glanced over, then went back to packing her stuff. Suddenly, she froze. She whirled around to see Gabriel holding the shirt. Mortified, she rushed towards him.

Gabriel casually moved his arm to the side, dodging her grab. He gave the men's casual shirt a meaningful look, then turned to Jessica, whose face was now bright red. "You've kept this all this time?"

It was a shirt he'd worn during his convalescence at her old apartment. She'd bought it for him on a whim. Even though it was just some loungewear and this shirt for going out, she didn't feel right keeping his stuff after he left.

When she sold the old house, she had a ton of stuff to move and didn't take much with her. But she couldn't help but keep the clothes Gabriel had worn, hanging them neatly in her closet. For the past two years, they'd just sat there, untouched. Occasionally, she'd glance at them.

She never thought Gabriel would find them one day.

It made her feel like a crazy person, holding onto his old clothes.

"Just a keepsake, to prove you were here once," Jessica said, trying to sound casual. She stopped reaching for the clothes and went back to packing.

At that moment, Gabriel pulled her into his arms and kissed the corner of her lips. "If I knew you missed me this much, I would've come sooner."

"You know, even if you had come, I wouldn't have let you in," Jessica said, raising an eyebrow.

"Really? Then why did you let me in now?" Gabriel's lips brushed against hers, making her heart race.

Trying to keep a straight face, Jessica stepped back a few inches and, after a moment, said seriously, "I had no choice. Seven years ago, I accidentally took advantage of you. I have to take responsibility."

Seeing Gabriel's dangerous look, Jessica quickly smiled, kissed him on the lips, and broke free to continue packing.

She was worried she wouldn't have enough time and would be late for the set in the afternoon.

But when she glanced back, she saw Gabriel taking the clothes off the hanger, folding them neatly as if he planned to take them.

"What are you doing with that shirt?"

"Confiscating it."

Jessica's eyelid twitched. "You don't need clothes. Any random shirt of yours costs more than a few months' rent for most people. Why do you want this cheap shirt?"

Gabriel, holding the shirt, didn't even look up. "You're mine. Do I need to fight you for anything?"

Even though Gabriel said that, Jessica had kept those clothes for years, and they meant a lot to her. If he took them away and tried to erase the past when he was weak and injured at her place, that wouldn't fly!

She was about to argue with him over the clothes when the doorbell rang.

It rang again, urgently.

Jessica turned to look at the door.

Not many people knew she lived here. Olivia and Caroline knew she was moving and wouldn't just drop by. Even if they did, they knew the code and wouldn't need to ring the doorbell.

So, it could only be some close colleagues from her studio, or maybe Lynn, Mackenzie, or Zoey.

But no one had called her in advance.

Could it be the property management?

Jessica walked towards the bedroom door, then turned back to close it, glaring at Gabriel, who was still holding the clothes. "Don't come out!"

Even Jessica was puzzled after shouting that.

Why not let Gabriel come out?

He wasn't someone who needed to be hidden, and he was her legal husband.

But with the urgent doorbell, not knowing if it was some nosy reporter, a fan invading her privacy, or just property management, she instinctively didn't want anyone to see Gabriel.

Oh, this damned possessiveness, she had it too.

The doorbell was insistent. Jessica cautiously looked at the monitor and saw Daniel outside, immediately feeling exasperated.

She quietly thought, "How did this loser find me here?"

She didn't want to open the door, but her phone suddenly rang. She didn't have time to mute it. Just a door away, Daniel said, "Jessica, I know you're in there. Open the door!"

Jessica looked at the time, opened the door, and spoke before Daniel could. "How did you find me here? How did you get past security? I have to leave in about ten minutes. Make it quick."

Daniel, who had been angrily about to enter, was momentarily taken aback by Jessica's tone.

She still clearly remembered their first meeting in Washington, at a New Year's gathering arranged by Donald. Although it was a brief encounter, Jessica's quiet and enduring nature was memorable. But recently, Jessica had become less reserved with him and now she could directly scold him upon seeing him, not even bothering to maintain a facade of harmony.

Daniel paused for two seconds, then quickly walked in, slamming the door behind him. He glanced at Jessica's empty hands, confirming she had no bag or pepper spray or anything. His eyes narrowed. He advanced on her, all pretense of familial courtesy gone. "Security is just people," he sneered, "If others can't get in, they just didn't offer enough. I just paid them more."

Jessica expressionlessly stepped back two steps, glanced at the closed door, then at Daniel's aggressive demeanor, seeing his bloodshot, fierce eyes as if he hadn't slept for several nights. She immediately understood. "What happened to the Jenner family?"
