Chapter 436 Shocking the World of Six-Year-Old Danielle

Michael was dropping some serious hints that Jessica needed to pick a side and help out.

These two had been bickering forever, and Gabriel was too tired to get involved. How was Jessica supposed to jump in and take a side?

Just then, Sarah popped in from the side room. She'd already overheard a lot and asked, "Mrs. Harriman, are you staying for dinner? Do you still like the same stuff?"

Seraphina glanced at Sarah, surprised to see so many familiar faces in the Harriman family. She nodded and agreed to stay for dinner.

Sarah smiled and quickly ducked out.

Jessica grabbed Sarah's hand, saying she wanted to cut some fruit for Danielle, and followed her to the kitchen, looking for a way to escape the drama.

Seeing Jessica leave, Michael snorted, "Holding a grudge like this won't help!"

"Jessica's already being super generous. It's a big deal she even came back to the Harriman family, especially bringing the kid," Seraphina said. "Jessica's a smart girl. You, as an elder, should be smarter."

Michael rolled his eyes, "Can't you just save it and take a break?"

Seraphina chuckled, "We're not even in contact anymore. You still expect me to say nice things about you?"

Michael ignored her, looked down at Danielle in his arms, and suddenly asked, "Little Danielle, is it tough for Mommy to take care of you alone? Do you ever feel like you're missing out? If you need anything, you gotta tell Great-Grandpa!"

Danielle tilted her head, looking at her great-grandmother and Great-Grandpa, her big eyes blinking, "No, Mommy's amazing. Whatever other kids have, Danielle has too. Mommy makes a lot of money, and Danielle never feels left out."

"Jessica's a great mom," Seraphina said sincerely, hearing how sensible Danielle was. "Jessica might look pretty and gentle, but as a mom, she's strong and decisive. Raising a kid alone for so many years and doing such a good job shows she's clear-headed and responsible. This kid is way better than those so-called high-society girls. A girl who's been spoiled with everything and force-fed manners isn't as good as a genuinely good girl like Jessica."

Danielle, hearing her great-grandmother praise her mom, couldn't help but say in a small voice, "She's the best mommy, but not gentle at all."

Seraphina was amused, and even Michael couldn't help but smile.

Mommy was the best mommy, but not gentle at all.

Indeed.

Strong outside, and at home, she dared to kill cockroaches, which wasn't exactly gentle.

Gabriel totally agreed.

In the kitchen, Jessica, who was eagerly cutting fruit with Sarah, suddenly turned her head and sneezed.

When she brought the fruit platter back to the main hall, as soon as she walked in, three pairs of eyes were on her.

Jessica calmly said, "Danielle, don't stay in Great-Grandpa's arms all the time. Come here, sit, eat some fruit, and let Great-Grandpa and great-grandmother have a good chat."

As she spoke, she calmly put down the fruit platter and saw Gabriel looking at her. Gabriel had a soft smile on his lips, and even his cold-toned coat couldn't hide his warmth.

Maybe it was because she'd never seen such a warm and cozy scene before. That evening, when everyone was gathered in the main hall of the Harriman mansion for dinner, Danielle was bouncing between Michael and Seraphina, calling them Great-Grandpa and Great-Grandma. The two elders were so happy they forgot to argue.

Danielle's eyes sparkled, and she occasionally gave the elders little kisses.

Soon, it was storytime, and Danielle started sharing funny stories about her and her friends in kindergarten. Michael and Seraphina listened and laughed, occasionally catching each other's eyes but quickly looking away in disdain.

It was clear Gabriel had a plan bringing Seraphina back.

Gabriel kept his cool, always scheming. Who would've thought he could quietly bring the two elders together?

After dinner, Michael finally got a sense of Danielle's situation. Jessica didn't go into too many details, just saying it was a series of coincidences, but it still made Michael sigh, thinking about the child he'd been missing for so many years.

But Danielle was well-mannered, cute, sensible, and super enthusiastic. She loved sitting between Great-Grandpa and Great-Grandma, mediating their arguments. Whenever they bickered at the table, Danielle would be in the middle, lightening the mood and making them laugh.

She was truly a smart and lovable kid.

Finally, when Seraphina took Danielle outside to play, Michael looked at Jessica and softly said, "Jessica, you've been through a lot."

A short sentence, just like two years ago when he said the Harriman family is the Harriman family, was straightforward and brief, yet deeply meaningful.

Unexpectedly, Seraphina, standing at the main hall door watching Danielle for a while, suddenly turned back and said, "When's the wedding? Where will it be? What kind of wedding? I think traditional classic weddings are in now. How about that?"

Michael immediately shot her a look, "What does the wedding have to do with you? You've been divorced for years. You're not even part of the Harriman family. What right do you have to decide?"

"I'm Gabriel and Jessica's grandmother! I'm Danielle's great-grandmother! Why don't I have the right? I see your legs aren't very nimble. I'm afraid you won't even be able to stand at the wedding!"

"Who says I can't stand?" Michael stood up straight, "Standing tall!"

Seraphina glanced meaningfully at the cane in his hand.

"What are you looking at? The price of this cane could buy your shabby apartment abroad!"

Gabriel decisively took Jessica out of the main hall, leaving Danielle to act as the "bridge" between Great-Grandpa and Great-Grandma. Danielle stood at the main hall door, watching the two argue with a shocked expression, completely stunned by the scene.

Jessica followed Gabriel out of the main hall, looking back and uncertainly whispered, "Are you sure Danielle's presence can make them reconcile?"

"No, at least it won't make things worse."

Gabriel added, "She's six years old. It's time for her to contribute to this family."
