Chapter 649 Sweet Extra of Couple Variety Show 134
Jessica shot a sideways glance at Kevin, then subtly nodded towards Amy with her chin and said, "If you wanna show off, go for it. You gotta grab the chance yourself, right?"
Kevin didn't respond right away, nor did he look directly at Amy, but he did put down his beer bottle.
He looked at Jessica as if to say, "If you have something to say, just say it."
Jessica chuckled to herself and was about to pick up her water bottle when Brent suddenly said, "Hey, Ms. Jenner, that's not fair. Just because Mr. Harriman's got your back doesn't mean you get to skip out on drinking."
Before Jessica could respond, Debra chimed in slowly, "There's nothing wrong with a woman drinking less. You guys can drink all you want, but leave Jessica out of it."
Brent backed off immediately, though his eyes still held a hint of challenge. He turned to Melissa and said, "Melissa, how about a bottle?"
"No way. I gotta get up early tomorrow. I'm gonna put on a face mask and hit the sack. It's rare to get a good night's sleep these days, and if I don't take care of my skin, my face will crack," Melissa replied, not bothering to entertain him.
Brent laughed and pretended to lean in for a kiss. "Let me see, which part of your skin is gonna crack?"
"Get away, get away!" Melissa jumped up from her seat, not wanting to sit next to him anymore, and moved over to sit next to Cindy.
Cindy watched them with amusement. "Out of all the guests here, Brent, you're the most playful. Only Melissa can put up with you."
"Who says I can put up with him? I don't have a choice," Melissa sighed dramatically, giving Brent a sideways glance.
Brent raised an eyebrow at her, one hand on his beer bottle. "No choice? There were plenty of guys chasing after you back then, but you ended up with me because you have good taste."
The table erupted in laughter, and the clinking of bottles continued.
Jessica quietly gave Debra a grateful look for speaking up for her earlier.
Debra smiled and didn't say much, but she did ladle a bowl of soup for Jessica and asked Cindy, who was sitting closer to Jessica, to pass it over.
Cindy took the soup, initially confused, but understood when she saw Debra's look. She placed the soup in front of Jessica, noticing that Jessica was still quietly sitting next to Gabriel, clearly not planning to drink any alcohol that night.
"You're really not drinking? Is your stomach still bothering you?" Cindy asked softly.
Jessica smiled and shook her head. "No, it's much better, but I just don't feel like drinking."
Clayton leaned over to look at Jessica and then suddenly said to Gabriel, "Is it because Mr. Harriman won't let Ms. Jenner drink? With her personality, she wouldn't usually avoid drinking at a gathering like this."
Jessica shot Clayton a warning look and played along, "You could say I'm under strict supervision."
"Exactly. Ms. Jenner not drinking at all tonight makes her stand out. Look, Cindy's already had two glasses," Brent chimed in, pointing at the empty glasses in front of Cindy.
Just as Jessica was about to speak, Gabriel calmly moved the glass of wine that had been placed in front of her away.
"See, it's Mr. Harriman who won't let her drink," Brent pointed out, indicating Gabriel's silent but firm action.
"Jessica's health isn't that bad, but she really shouldn't be drinking. How about this, I'll drink for her. Three glasses for every one she would have had," Gabriel said, pouring himself another glass.
