Chapter 550 Sweet Extras of Couple Variety Show 35
Gabriel still had fifteen bucks in his pocket! He was definitely the richest among all the guests in the group!
With that kind of cash, if he didn't keep a tight grip on it, Clayton, Brent, or even Lester might try to shake him down.
When Gabriel came back from his shower, he smelled like gardenia body wash from the guesthouse. It was a pleasant and inviting scent, stronger than the subtle, cool scent he was used to at home, but in the cool tent, it made people instinctively want to get closer.
Since it was already dark, Jessica had lowered all the ventilation flaps on the side of the tent facing the camera. The camera couldn't capture this area now, so she took advantage of the moment Gabriel lifted the tent flap and bent down to enter, and she pounced on him.
Gabriel was caught off guard by her sudden hug but managed to steady himself and catch her to prevent her from falling. He looked down at Jessica's bright, smiling eyes. "Weren't you saying you were really tired? Why aren't you asleep yet?"
"Waiting for you," Jessica said as she reached into the clothes Gabriel had changed out of and found a crumpled ten-dollar bill and a crumpled five-dollar bill. She whispered under her breath, "Ten bucks an hour, you really dared to do some under-the-table work, Mr. Harriman?"
Recognizing the teasing tone in Jessica's voice, Gabriel looked down at her and smiled, guessing she must have watched the playback footage. He didn't say much, just glanced at the box of ice in the tent. "Are you still hot?"
"No, it's cool and comfortable," Jessica murmured as she snuggled against Gabriel's chest. "Honestly, when I first planned to switch rooms with Maurice and the others, I was prepared for a rough night's sleep. This kind of show usually involves a lot of running around, and it's common to have several days of poor sleep. Although the director promised this isn't a challenge show, just a simple budget travel experience without high-risk activities, you don't need to worry too much about me. It's okay to be hot for a night. But you going to watch the supermarket for them, that's really too much."
"It's not too much," Gabriel chuckled, gently stroking Jessica's hair, which had already dried from the natural breeze. He sat down in front of her, keeping her close, and pressed the two layers of ground mats. "The ground is flat, no sharp edges, and with two layers, it shouldn't affect your sleep. Get some rest; we have to get up early tomorrow."
Marshall had mentioned that starting tomorrow, the show would no longer provide food. Each family would be limited to fifty dollars a day, which included travel expenses to the next location. So, how to save and spend the money was up to the guests to decide.
Moreover, the nearby supermarket had expensive and not-so-fresh food. The morning market had fresh and cheap ingredients, but it started at four or five in the morning and ended by six or seven. So, everyone needed to get up early and plan their day's needs, while the camera crew would follow each family and capture the process.
It was indeed a travel show, focused on eating, sleeping, traveling, and finding ways to earn a little extra money to supplement their budget. Unless the budget was really tight, the director would arrange tasks and games to create some show effects, offering extra budget rewards. The whole program was quite free, not too complicated, and without many restrictions, but the money given was indeed very little, forcing everyone to be frugal.
