Chapter 466 Gabriel Actually Knelt Before Her One Day to Propose
Jessica had grown accustomed to Gabriel's patience and love for her. She never thought he was the type to go all out with grand gestures.
He was always calm and collected, doing what needed to be done without any fuss. That was just his way.
So, Jessica was caught off guard when Gabriel got down on one knee, flowers and ring in hand, proposing to her.
Jessica stared at the diamond ring in the velvet box he held. It was the clearest diamond she had ever seen, set in a simple band with no extra frills—elegant and classy.
Gabriel looked up at her, seeing her shocked expression.
While composed and graceful in public, Jessica was simple and charming in private.
Today, she had spent the whole day chilling at the hotel, her hair casually tied back, wearing a mint-colored island dress. When she looked totally relaxed on vacation, the proposal caught her off guard.
"The night I took you to the city hall, I wanted to quickly give you and Danielle a real home, so you wouldn't have to wander anymore. You'd have a husband to rely on, and Danielle would have the father she always wanted. Everything was rushed. Now, we're living happily, looking forward to our future together. Regardless of our differences, I want a peaceful happiness undisturbed by others. At the beginning of our marriage, I owed you many things, including the wedding ring, which I'd been preparing for a long time and just received from an overseas designer."
Gabriel's voice was calm and slow, like the quiet sea at night, clear and far-reaching. Every word touched her heart, and even the way he spoke was gentle and attractive, making her heart flutter.
"Love doesn't need to be spoken out, but I know you understand. You and Danielle are the unexpected joys of my life, deeply rooted in my heart and connected to me. Our destiny began seven years ago. Will you marry me?"
Jessica rarely heard Gabriel say so much, especially the sweet words.
She stood there, stunned, not reacting for a long time, just staring at him blankly. She wanted to speak several times but didn't know how to respond.
They were already married; she couldn't say no.
She wanted to tease Gabriel by saying, "Gabriel, you can be so cheesy," but seeing him kneeling before her, she couldn't say a word of mockery. Her eyes even felt a bit warm.
Crying would be too dramatic and sentimental. Jessica tried to hold back her tears, hugged the flowers tightly with one hand, and extended the other hand to him, waiting for the ring.
Seeing Gabriel smile at her action, she held back her tears and said with a playful smile, "Of course I'll marry you! I'll always need you. Once you put this ring on my finger, you'll be my husband for life, and my forever love."
Gabriel stayed on one knee, took out the ring, and gently slid it onto Jessica's finger.
Jessica watched him, her heart racing. Even though they were already married, this felt different.
The ring was stunning, a large but not overly flashy diamond, sparkling under the lights.
Gabriel didn't let go of her hand right away. He held it tight, not giving her a chance to pull away.
He intertwined his fingers with hers, his voice soft and deep, "As long as you don't run away, it's enough. I shouldn't have let you escape from the car seven years ago. I should have locked you in, whether by tying you up or knocking you out."
If she had stayed in the car back then, Gabriel might have done something drastic in his rage.
Gabriel stood up, satisfied with the ring on her hand. Jessica looked down, wondering if the ring would attract robbers. Gabriel's voice came from above, "Don't think about taking it off. If it's inconvenient to wear it out, there's a smaller matching ring in the hotel room. I'll give it to you later."
He even knew what she was thinking.
The wedding ring was indeed beautiful and suitable for many occasions, but it was a bit large for everyday wear. She had just been thinking that a smaller diamond would be perfect for daily use.
So Gabriel meant that whether it was the large diamond or the smaller matching ring, she should wear one of them. She shouldn't think about taking it off.
Jessica secretly smiled but pouted and said, "So bossy."
Seeing her struggling with the flowers, Gabriel took them from her and handed them to a waiter who had come over from the private beach. Then he took Jessica's hand and led her towards the beach.
"I know you like barbecue, but it's not healthy. Once in a while is fine. Tonight, enjoy yourself, but no more barbecue for a month after this." Gabriel pointed to the various delicious foods being grilled.
Jessica did have a thing for barbecue, but she hadn't shown it much. She didn't know when Gabriel had noticed it.
Maybe it was because when he suggested talking, she chose a barbecue place without thinking. Even when she was on the verge of tears, she still ate a lot of skewers.
Still in hotel slippers, Jessica felt even shorter next to Gabriel. She had to look up at him as they walked towards the beach. "It's the end of the year, and your company must be super busy. Can you take some time off early next year to join me on a show?"
"You really want to sign me?" Gabriel asked.
"Not really. I can't afford to sign you. My studio's annual revenue is less than one of your company's small subsidiaries. I wouldn't dare sign you. But I want to mentor some newcomers in my studio, and I might need to participate in some reality shows. There's a couples show. Can you spare the time..." Jessica asked cautiously.
