Majestic City was a popular coastal tourist destination that's become a trendy spot for young people in recent years.
Since they were heading to the island to film the next episode, and everything in the nearby malls and supermarkets was expensive, the group decided to buy essentials beforehand in Harmony City. The cost of living there was much lower, and the locals were still quite down-to-earth, making it a more budget-friendly option for their current tight financial situation.
First on the list were clothes for the island. Although the director had arranged matching outfits for each pair of guests, differentiated only by color for easy identification on camera, everyone wanted more comfortable clothes for their downtime.
Island wear typically came in a few styles. When the group agreed to go shopping, Jessica picked out a blue outfit with small palm tree prints and held it up for Gabriel to see.
Gabriel had never worn anything so flashy before. The matching outfits provided by the director were simple dark blue T-shirts and sweatpants with a small sponsor logo.
This island outfit seemed nice too, with a small, subtle pattern that Gabriel probably wouldn't mind.
Gabriel didn't seem to care what she chose, so Jessica picked out a matching set for them, a blue island dress for herself, and two large sun hats.
Surprisingly, the total cost for the outfits and hats was under fifty dollars. She decided to grab two pairs of flip-flops as well, thinking they could use them throughout the filming.
The director had insisted they couldn't use anything from home, aiming for a back-to-basics experience. They could only use items bought with the show's budget and occasionally check their phones.
Gabriel was already by the flip-flop rack when Jessica pushed the cart over to him. "I got the clothes and hats. They're a bit more colorful than what you usually wear, is that okay?"
She proudly showed him the items, all under fifty dollars.
Gabriel glanced at the things she bought, not commenting, but his eyes shifted from the black and white flip-flops to the blue ones.
"Any color is fine. Black and white are easy to match, and blue is close enough. As long as they're comfortable," Jessica said, testing the softness of the soles.
Brent came over to take a look. They didn't have much money left, so flip-flops weren't on their list. He stood by, watching and joking, "Mr. Harriman, did you ever think you'd spend this long deciding on $9.99 flip-flops?"
Gabriel looked at Brent, noticing his cart only had two sets of island clothes. Given Brent and Melissa's financial situation, this was the best they could do.
Gabriel picked up a pair of black sporty flip-flops and gave Brent a look. "Want a pair? I'll get you two."
