Chapter 27 Gabriel's Publicly Released Photo

When Jessica got home, she was completely exhausted. After practicing stunts all day, she had patiently hailed a cab on the road as there was no hurry at that hour. By the time she reached home, it was well past ten at night.

Fortunately, Danielle's preschool had a boarding facility. Although it wasn't advised to leave such young children overnight at the school, Jessica felt more comfortable knowing Danielle would be safe there when she couldn't make it back in time.

Upon entering her house, Jessica was so drained she didn't even have the energy to shower. She collapsed onto the couch and wished she could fall asleep immediately.

After lying with her eyes shut for a while, the discomfort of not showering before bed grew too much to bear. Resisting the urge to sleep, she forced her eyes open, fumbled around the couch for a while, and grabbed the remote to turn on the TV. She hoped the noise would keep her awake long enough to rest for a few minutes before getting up to bathe.

The TV turned on to Xyleria's Economic News Channel, a finance news channel she had never watched. Jessica had no idea why it was on that channel, but she listened with her eyes closed, half-hearing the news anchor discuss economic rises and falls and stock appreciation in various groups.

The more Jessica listened, the sleepier she became. Gathering the last bits of her energy, she sat up on the couch.. She rested slumped over on the sofa, succumbing to the weight of exhaustion.

Jessica heard the news in the fog of sleep, not fully awake. In a dream-like state, she mumbled to herself, "Twelve days in the water, a living person would be waterlogged... impossible to find..." As she finished speaking, her head lolled to the side, and she almost fell asleep on the couch.

The Harriman family seemed to have accepted Gabriel's death, no longer sending out their search teams. Mr. Harriman, stricken with illness since learning of his grandson's accident, had been discharged from the hospital just the day before. According to the scene reporters, Mr. Harriman still appeared to be in shock. Losing his beloved grandson was heart-wrenching, but clearly, the weight of family responsibilities meant that despite his frail health, he insisted on being discharged to take care of family affairs.

Pegasus Global Holdings, the largest group in Europe, was still being featured in detail in the news. Such a renowned group and family incident attracted widespread attention, and the event seemed to be broadcast almost around the clock.

On the screen at that moment was a photo of Gabriel at an international business conference, standing at the head of the conference table in conversation. This was the only publicly released photo of Gabriel, actually captured by a conference reporter, showing just a profile.

Although Gabriel was very well-known domestically, he rarely allowed photographs to be taken, keeping his private life well-protected. Online, personal information or photos of him were virtually impossible to find, except for his role as the Global Executive CEO of Pegasus Global Holdings. His photo could only be found in this one instance, and even then, his face was barely discernable.

Yet even such a side profile was enough to catch the eye of many, with a stature and appearance that were undeniably striking.

Gabriel, twenty-six years old, holds a Master's in Finance from Johns Hopkins University and a Master's in Business Administration from Harvard University. As the Global Executive CEO of Pegasus Global Holdings, he was part of one of the nation's top five families. Pegasus Global Holdings managed hundreds of subsidiaries spread throughout various regions of Europe, encompassing a wide range of businesses: network electronics, entertainment production, software, hardware, and real estate commerce.
