Chapter 561 Sweet Extra of Couple Variety Show 46
As the group chatted, Rachel emerged from the bed and breakfast, looking around curiously. "Where? Who's got glasses? How good do they look? Is it Mr. Harriman?"
Rachel's eyes lit up when she spotted Gabriel. "Where are the glasses?"
Seeing them in his hand, Rachel's curiosity and excitement grew. "Why'd you take them off? Mr. Harriman, can you put them on again for me?"
Gabriel glanced at Rachel's inexplicable excitement for a moment before looking away, expressionless. He handed the glasses to Jessica, who had just come out of the tent, signaling her to put them away for him.
Jessica took the glasses and went back inside.
The scene was not just silent indifference but a cold rejection.
Rachel felt a bit awkward, and Brent, Melissa, Clayton, and Cindy all fell silent, avoiding the topic to prevent further embarrassment.
Once everyone was ready, the cameras had been rolling, but most of the footage would need post-production editing. Small actions, idle chatter, or sneaking a look at their phones were allowed during this time.
The director gave a detailed explanation about the tourism industry in Harmony City, the nearby ancient towns, and the tropical forest plants.
Then, he announced the first task of the day.
Collecting rubber.
The state where Harmony City is located is a major rubber producer, often exporting abroad.
Rubber trees are a typical tropical rainforest species, tall perennial trees with an economic lifespan of 30-40 years. The latex they secrete is a crucial industrial raw material, with most of the world's natural rubber coming from these trees. The wood is lightweight, has a beautiful grain, and is easy to process, making it suitable for high-end furniture, fiberboard, plywood, and pulp after chemical treatment.
Their next destination was Majestic City, which they planned to reach by tomorrow afternoon. The remaining budget was barely enough for a day's food and drink, let alone the travel and accommodation costs for Majestic City, including the first meal upon arrival.
So, they needed to collect and sell enough rubber to the nearby factory to earn the necessary funds.
This show wasn't exactly a survival challenge, but if they couldn't gather enough money for the next stop, camping outside was a real possibility. To enjoy better travel conditions, they had to earn it themselves.
Although the participants had somewhat anticipated this arrangement, the hot weather and harsh conditions made the tasks less appealing. However, for the show's exposure, to attract fans, and for the episode's pay, everyone wore enthusiastic and expectant smiles.
Only Amy muttered, "So, director, you've calculated everything so precisely that our initial budget for each episode is under a hundred bucks, right?"
Kevin, standing next to Amy, didn't respond to her complaint. Instead, he saw her thin arms and legs already reaching for the rubber collection tools and took them from her, ready to carry them himself.
