Chapter 474 Did you think I wouldn't make it in time?

Before Gabriel entered the hospital, he had already stationed his people outside.

Jessica, who had just calmed down, now appeared even more composed. She glanced at Gabriel as he put down the phone and met his gaze.

In that instant, she suddenly picked up her phone and turned off the emergency alert software that automatically contacted the police.

Gabriel noticed the software on her phone. "Supposing I wouldn't make it in time?"

"No..." She was just worried that if the Jenner family really made a move, they might try to hinder Gabriel.

Although she had indeed sent him her location, she wasn't sure how many people the Jenner family had mobilized. She thought that if the police could handle it, it would be better not to involve Gabriel.

But she had forgotten that Cynthia had once said Gabriel was not just a simple businessman . His experiences and relationship with Jimmy, and even Cynthia had served him for a long time. Gabriel was someone Cynthia respected greatly. His abilities were not confined to the business world, but she had never deliberately asked or tested him.

Moreover, she was here; it wouldn't make sense for Gabriel not to come.

Although Jessica had calmed down, her face was still much paler than usual. Gabriel didn't give her more time to worry in such a dangerous place. He put his arm around her shoulders and protected her in his embrace. "Let's go."

After leaving the hospital building, Jessica glanced back at Samuel, whose figure was no longer visible. She whispered, "The Jenner family's connections are so complicated that even I don't fully understand. I checked, and Mr. Jenner won't live long. So many people are staring at his position..."

"The most ambitious one is Eugene. To outsiders, you and I are rivals. To him, you and I are his biggest bargaining chips." Gabriel led Jessica out of the hospital and then put her in the car while taking a call.

After finishing the call and getting into the car, Jessica had already taken the water Landon handed her. The water was warm, and after drinking a few sips, she finally felt her scattered soul return to her body.

Sometimes, it was not the immediate danger that shocked people the most, but the period of evasion that amplified all fears to the point of forming a psychological shadow.

"Mr. Harriman." Landon, in the front passenger seat, showed Gabriel the items they had confiscated from those people.

Gabriel nodded and waved to indicate he understood.

Jessica hadn't seen clearly. When she saw Gabriel sitting next to her, she leaned closer to him, holding her cup, and whispered, "So many people are afraid of my arrival, the legitimate granddaughter, coming back. Eugene wants to find ways to keep me here. Am I caught in the middle?"

Gabriel hugged Jessica, who had leaned into him, kissed her forehead, and didn't answer directly. He only asked, "Scared?"

"Not really. I kept hiding instinctively, not knowing how long I had to hide. Just when I thought something was going to happen, you arrived." Jessica relaxed completely, closed her eyes, and said, "You are really a timely rain, coming just when I needed you."

Gabriel chuckled at her description, stroked her hair, and said, "I'll take you back to the hotel first, and then handle everything else. Washington is not Xyleria. Don't go out alone next time. No directors or agents. It is not the time to focus on work for now."

"Okay." Jessica thought of the look Nolan had when he kept glancing outside the security checkpoint. He probably noticed something and thought it was the media following them.

After experiencing the fear, people instinctively didn't want to be separated from their safest source. Jessica felt the same now, wanting to cling to Gabriel, not caring that there was a driver and Landon in the front seat.

But she just kept snuggling into his arms, seeking warmth and security.

Gabriel took the cup of water she had stopped drinking, covered it, and set it aside.

Jessica was enjoying the peace with her eyes closed when she suddenly felt a cold sting on her wrist. The smell of iodine filled the air. She instinctively tried to pull her wrist back but was held by Gabriel. She opened her eyes to see Gabriel turning her wrist over and applying iodine to a scratch she didn't remember getting.

She had no recollection of where she had scratched her wrist.

It might have happened while running back and forth in the emergency exit. Although Washington's big hospitals were authoritative and new, everyone used the elevators, and the stairs were not often used. Even with regular maintenance, there were still some old trash cans in the stairwells. She might have accidentally hit a rusty metal trash can while running, scratching her wrist in the process. She was in such a hurry that she didn't notice the pain.

Not only her wrist but also the back of her hand had some scrapes, which Gabriel also treated.

It hurt a bit, and Jessica instinctively wanted to pull away.

"Don't move. Let me disinfect it first. Checking when we get back to the hotel. If necessary, we'll go to the hospital to get it bandaged." Gabriel held her hand firmly, carefully applying the iodine to all the wounds on her hands and wrists. After checking both hands and her face and neck to ensure there were no other injuries, he put away the supplies and handed them to Landon.

Fortunately, it was winter, and Lindwood City was cold these days. Jessica was wearing long pants, not much skin was exposed. Otherwise, Gabriel would have checked her legs and other parts meticulously.

The car stopped in front of the hotel. Landon didn't get out, indicating he had other matters to attend to.

Jessica didn't have the energy to ask questions. She had been leaning against Gabriel the whole time in the car. Now, after getting out and taking a deep breath of Washington's cold air, she felt more alert. Just as she was about to enter the hotel, her phone rang. She looked down to see the same unknown number.

But the call ended after just two rings.

Jessica hesitated for a moment and called back. It had only been half a minute, but the other end had already turned off his phone.

Gabriel saw the confusion in her eyes, took her phone, and glanced at it, "Whose number is it?"

"I don't know. They called me at the hospital today, but I didn't answer. Now they suddenly turned off their phone," Jessica replied.

Hearing this, Gabriel's expression didn't change, but as he guided her into the hotel elevator, he glanced around the lobby, noticing a figure quickly leaving.
